  4. i wasnt sure and bought some of the nicer orange vests at grandpas over the weekend, as they were having a 50% off sale, but the ones i got have the silver reflective strip on them,  will that make a difference in distracting deer I know I know we cant think what the deer are thinking didnt know if anyone might have a clew from past tests being done.  Thanks   I will now go bakc in the corner with my dunce hat.  :)
  5. Ya the photo is sqwished if you click on it, it will open up and then you can see the actual image proportions, as for how I did it, it was much like of the other members here did his.  We were at 1st going to find some paterns that had already been created, but then dicided to go out and cut some pieces off of the bushes out front to use to creat the line and seperation between the firn stems.  we didnot use new ones we kept usig the same piece during the entire paint job.  The other thing that we discovered was that you just want to give a very lite spritzing of the paint or you have to much paint and penatrate the leafes and stem to much.  we just kept doing that all over till we got the effect we liked, we did start by sprying on a heavy base coat of the light tan or sand color. all of the colors we used were black, dark green, sand stone and a matt clear coat finish, the matt clear coat, had several coats applied to ensure it would protect the finish, we would also use a hair dryer between each coat of what ever color to help dry it and hopefuly back it on a little better again hoping that it will help adhear and not chip or peal.  if it does we will just reshot it.  As for what paint i used, I looked several times and the lowes near us and did not see any camo paint, then I looked at walmart of all places and found it there, it is rust oleum camo paint, the clear coat is krylon matt clear coat.  I will probably do the upper and lower but after going at what is there now for a day and a half it will probably be a few days before I get that done, as when we were do the 300blk we also did a streamlight and that added to the time and I got kinda burnt out.  Thanks for the feed back and sorry for not answering right away for some reason I am not getting the emails that there has been a response
  6. huweee, that was a tough one, havent done that much puter work to get a photo posted in years, forgot how to gitter done, but I gotter now so let me know what you fellers think and if I should do the upper and lower, cant believe how long it took, it was a about a day and a half.  There are several coats of paint if i didnt mention that and then a few coats of matt clear coat to protect it.  Thanks in advance for all input.
  7. well that didnt work let me try again   http://ronald_padilla.86371@uploads.photobucket.com
  8. I had a hogue rail in the begining as I couldnt afford the keymod I wanted to went the hogue route, then I saw this rail on FT Campbell yard sail, so i picked it upand of course it was the standard black, I did several coats of paint including several coats of matt clear coating let me know what yall think and if i should do the upper and lower. now I hope I can upload photos be back shortly with the photos.  http://ronald_padilla.86371.photobucket.com and should I paint the upper and lower yes no let me know.   Thanks
  9. well, I did say that I would report back after the few issues that I had with the fresh build I had with the 300blk.  Come to find out that I did not have the shoulder set back far enough Dolomite as well 173rd indicated that might be the problem, and that is exactly what the problem was, it take several frustrating hours to get the die set just right and several stuck pieces of brass as well.we did get er done.  The rifle shoots just fine I now have about 50 rounds down the pipe and painstakingly cleaning between each first few rounds then after a series of rounds.  The only thing to do now is make some upgrades as time and money allows before deer season, and figuring out where to find some lancer mags as the new G.I, issue and the new magpul that I have would not feed properly after the 1st few rounds so the saga continues.  see ya'll
  10. Got together with dolomite and I think I have a handle on the problem, I will be addressing the issue in the next few days when I load some more ammo, once done and test is completed I will get back and give a report.  thanks
  11. 173rd I was just speaking with my son and I think that the failure to chamber was occurring using both methods when charging the fresh round in the chamber, what type of die are you using in your set up?  I understand what you are saying about adjusting the shoulder on the round, I just can t see it in my minds eye, if the die is adjusted according to mfg specs. I still have about 15 rounds of the new formed rounds and the one's from today that have now been fire formed to reload before our next outing hopefully in the next few days to try and chamber to see how it goes.
  12. I got to test fire the 300 blk today and for the most part everything looked it good it was extracting at about 3:00 o'clock and we were working on trying to zero in the scope at the same time, and I know I have read somewhere the answer to this question, just don't recall the answer.  I was using 168gr amax with brass that I cut, formed and loaded myself.  when releasing the bolt it would not fully chamber the round at first I thought it was the magazine.     I was using a magpul 40 round mag but only loaded with one round as I was going to clean between each round, so then we went to another 20 round magpul mag and the same thing occurred, with the 40 round the bolt would not lock back, with the other 2 magpul 20 round mags it would.  I also began to think that maybe it was the brass and maybe I did not prep it correctly?  Or is it something with the gun, when we would began to load and fire 2 then 3 and 4 rounds it would cycle fine, but still experienced the problem with it not wanting chamber the 1st round and thinking about it we were charging and releasing the bolt manually and it would not fully charge the 1st round.  as I mentioned this is a brand new fresh build from the ground up and the 1st for me, I have modified others but have not done a complete build.   I am sure that there is something that I am overlooking and there is a solution to the problem, just not sure where to look, if it seems that I have not explained something well let me know, I am trying to see this out in my mind the steps we were taking to go through the process today and don't think I left anything out, let me know what I am overlooking I sure I will hear from Dolomite and others on this, and thanks in advance.
  13. na all fines paid going to traffic school, the still pulled the dl for no ins so got to go through to deal to get it back even though my wife does 90 % of the driving
  14. it was for speeding in a school zone but I honestly did not know that at the time as I am still fairly new here to Tn, of course the question of insurance came and it had been lapsed for a short time dumb part on my part, so now it has reflected on my drivers license being pulled till I can correct the issue.  But does that have any impact on my carry permit, I wouldn't think so but not sure.   thanks
  15. I had a conversation with the owner of one of the shops here in town yesterday, and his comments were along the lines of Whiskey, it takes time and practice to master the bow, along with the fact that I am not a young man, (61) snuck up real quick, along like others have mentioned, bad knees, over weight, so I decided that I would go with the cross bow, I took 2 shots in the shop and put both in the eye, I don't think I would have done that with a compound right out of the gate.  So being that the local shop runs a Christmas in July special I put one on layaway and look forward to bow season.
  16. MikeG what powder are you using to load the Nosler with?
  17. I had 2 primary reasons for building it, one for the short range knock down power, and hope it works well during deer season for 200 yards and less hits, and the request of my youngest son, he thought it would be cool to own one, so I didn't have a problem with it.  so come deer season I hope that it will bring us some food to eat, as for the ammo I just obtained one of the mini saws along with a jig yesterday and can start to cut and work my own brass.   Thanks and keep the responses coming.
  18. have any off you found that the interest in the 300blk, has not taken off, and possibly even dropped since it was 1st introduced.  I know that David offers brass, and of course all of the options to cut and form your own brass, I myself just completed a 300blk build and will probably continue to change it with better trigger, and other items I could not afford during the build, but wanted to find out how others see the trend for the round and weapon.   Thanks
  19. Thanks for in for the info, as more money is available, I will probably get another lower to build out so that it is 2 dedicated rifles or get another scope, which ever I can afford 1st.
  20. I am in the process of building the 300blk upper, the lower is complete, last week I had to make a few things happen to come up with some money and sold my 308 for some cash a upper and a 9mil.  So my question is, will the scope stay in relative closeness to zero when going from one AR upper to another or is the general consensus that I will have to re-zero going from one upper to the other.  Thanks in advance.
