  1. when you get to the above ^^^ addy look up the Tennessee site you scroll down to it then sign up for the group.  Like Wiljo said not much traffice this year, you can see where they are in the make ready stage looks like some people already there setting things up.  My youngest son is going to try and get Friday off so that we can go Friday and Saturday.  If not then I hope to go with my oldest son for 1 day.
  2. who's going to go Joe, Dave? anyone interested in going, we have never been, but want to go. My understanding is that it is held by FINS N FUR, We have the LBL permit already and sounds like fun, I guess they have some sort of gathering on Saturday night where everyone gathers round and tells lies. I have my request in to join the web group and waiting for a response to find out what all in envolved.
  3. it will end up with an adjustable gas block most likely before it gets fired for the first time.
  4. Not sure how many know so I thought I would pass it along, jp offers vets a 30% discount on items that are bought from them, I had bought the spring from them and it arrived today and did get the discount, I ordered it with the tungsten weights due to it going in a pistol build and want to tame the recoil as mutch as I can. I also ordered the Devil Dog hard charger and they give a 10% discount to vets and other public servants, that should be in my hands by the end of the week along with the phase 5 bolt catch and then it will be ready to get broken in, the only other thing I will add next month is the SD tacticle muzzle device that works with their version of a flaming pig. once everthing is complete i will then contact rifle works for one of their trusts so that I can build a can for it and the carbine. SD tacticle also offers a 10% discount on their items as well, the discounts are there for the taking you only need to ask, it can add up to a few bucks saved for relaoding or other items, I find myself ordering more from companies and small businesses that offer the VET discount than those that don't.
  5. I'll be there with my son, looking forward to some open minded converstions.
  6. I wouldnt use him regardless when there is someone in Clarksville that does them for 250.00. :)
  7. I never said I would buy an nfa item, however I might be able to spend a FEW bucks each Month, to buy the parts, to build an nfa item that would need to have a serial number in order for it to be legal. As I have mentioned in another thread it may take me months to build an AR pistol. And if all the hoopla about a arm brace continues I may have a need to make it an sbr, then I would have to scrounge the cash to pay the 200.00. But I think that this whole converstaion has taken a twist that it shouldnt, the idea is that there are options out there for a person to take if one so chooses, I understand that the lawyers help keep this site going and am thankfull for that. I also understand that they are not going to like the fact that there are companies that are selling a product that interfers with their bottom line. There is enough info on the internet and outernet to be able determine if what is being sold is valid. If a person wanted to picky they might even want to know what law school these people went to. but again that is not the focus of this thread, the original question was about the trust that rifle works sells. There are hundreds out there if a person searches for it, that also come with an attorney if needed, and there is. They question has been answered maybe not to the liking of some but answered, and again it comes down to economics of what one can afford, os it is up to each person to determine what is best for them without hate, more engery should be spent thinking about the jake booted thugs, or the training sell in Dover.
  8. As much as I would like to ba able to support one of the vendors here I cannot due to my level of income, so when the time comes for me to do a trust I most likely will go with coyote rifle works unless one of the 2 gentlemen here would be willing to do some probono work. I spent several minutes on the phone with the gentilman from coyote on Thursday evening discussing the whole situation that had been discussed here as well as the same exact type of conversations that has and will go on, on other boards. He does indicated that in no uncertain terms does not give leagal advice, they are attemping to reach all those that are in a situation just like myself that have to watch every penny that comes in from our sources of income, and in my case it is Social Security Disability income. out of my income I have a need to cover all of my meds food rent and other needed necessities, I dont ask for nor do I qualify for any other type of assistance. Yet that doesnt mean that I dont like to go out and shoot I reload all my own ammo and always look for the best price I can get and If it isnt from david here on the board I look till I can find a better deal. Again I am not opposed to paying for premium service when I can afford it. I was no where ready to retire when I was forced to persue SSDI when I did, and it is tough going from making a month to what I used to make in a week. Now I hope that this entry does not pee in anyones wheaties, but not everyone can go out and afford the attorney regardless of how cheap the services might cost, in fact while I was out this weekend I was glancing around to see if I could find a copy of will maker that might cost me less and i would be going that route to prepare the documents myself, the people at coyote again saw a need for a service that would allow people like myself to be able to reach the same dream or need of having a trust at cost that could meet the needs, particularly in my case I suffer from extreem loos of hear in my left ear and considerable loss in my right ear, all related to military service but the V.A. says it is not signficant enough to warnt anything above a zero rating. I have no doulbt have said more than I should have and have no intentions of being diparaging to anyone on this board, JMHO. Thanks
  9. The cable we have did not work with chirp even after downloading a different driver, so we spoke with a few different guys that helped write the software, and thier opinion was that baofeng might have changed that firm wware, now that was with the 1st set of radios those have been sent back the ones we have. we still need to try the newest radios with the cable and chirp to see if they will program or just figure that we will have to program them manualy
  10. Yes yes very true :) it was late thats my excuse and I am sticking to
  11. we might have to look in to another cable to get these to program.
  12. we might have to look in to another cable to get these to program.
  13. we might have to look in to another cable to get these to program.
  14. we might have to look in to another cable to get these to program.
  15. what we dicovered is that chrip doesnt always work depending what firm ware the radio was built with, we sent back some because they would not work with chirp The ones we have now were able to program the manual way, however they were not talikng radio to radio, but that a very short period of time spent with them today giving them the go over right after taking out of the box. So hopefully over the weekend we will be able to spend some time trying to program with chirp and see how it goes.
  16. it would be nice if there was a bunch of guys that we could set a ham chat, if there were high enough repeaters that could handle the traffic. Then maybe hunting info for the verious seasons could be shared, just a thinking out load kind of thing.
  17. it has been somewhat problamatic getting them programed let alone working there have been about 8 radios sent out and still not sure if they are working ok. the 2 we were testing today are hitting the repeater ok, but were not being able to talk radio to radio so not sure yet what is going on. It will probably be over the weekend before we can spend more time, I will post the freq numbers later gotta run right now.
  18. We did get the baofeng set up to hit the repeater out by Dover today and from the reports they are doing ok. They were freah out of the box with out the battery being charged and the stock antenna, so with some work we can start working that for a while. That my Christmas present from my so. I use to be on 27 mhz a few times myself as the years went by, being a former truck driver that is what we used to run, later in years the handle was truck doc ron, when I drove it used to be the muff d!ver my wife never did like that handle but that was then this is now.
  19. Bert, I would like to hear more about what type of equipment you are or were using when making some of your comments. unfortunatly I had to sell all my stuff so I will be starting over but have to do it on the low end, and i hadnt been in it all that long when I was getting rid of my stuff and still had lots to learn. Thanks
  20. cool thanks for the response, what about fit up any problems mounting it to the upper at all?
  21. I am hoping to get back in to the HF area some time in the near future, a thought that just crossed my mined is that if a some repeaters could be set up, by and for the use of the guys here here especially for use when out hunting in the event of an emergency.  Just thinking out loud but an interesting thought none the less.
  22. What makes it so tough is the equipment is dog gone expensive, you would not think so but it is, even the USA made stuff is way up there in cost, but in an area like this where for the most part it is rural, you would think that there would be more operators.  I am always on the look out for HF towers and antennas as I travel around but seldom see them.
  23. It is not that difficult to do now and with out the need to know code it has made it even easier, if your not sure where teating is done or where meetings are held you can go to qrz.com and look up a lot of info including the practice exams, it another way to meet and greet others, and in the event of a major emergency ham radio operators will be some of the only ones to reach out to others to not only help, but offer assistance to those in need, something to think about, the airways will still be open even though the gobment trys to get their hands on it as well.
  24. I had looked a the Icoms, they are nice radios, I used other types along with a variety of antennas, but most were mobile.  I never did get a base station set up where it worked real well, but the mobile with antenna set up I had would talk cost to cost without a kicker on it, I was almost considering sell my rifles to get a nice base station set again, but I dont think I want to do that.
