  1. ya a tarp would work and can make a stand out of pvc, ya that would work.
  2. cool thanks for letting me know, I was thinking about buying one of those big brass catcher thingies that are held on a tripod, so that when we go out we can catch all of our brass, as I also make my own 300blk and don't really want to lose much of that.
  3. yes just over the bridge outside of cadiz, the last time I was there it was covered in snow so now way to compare, but from the looks of it, it could use a cleaning, it is a drive for us but still well worth it. The few times I have been there it has been occupied by a lot of active duty people shooting their own weapons, but not saying that they are the sole problem but?
  4. using David's powder, but have a few dumb questions. How many reloads can a person get out of a case before it needs to go away? Now I like to reload on the conservative side of things just because I don't want to push my luck with any of the weapons that I have, I Dolo sees this I am sure that he as well as a bunch of others will chime in. In addition to the powder I got a few once fired and primed cases from David and some extreme 230gr round nose to brake in my RIA 45 and the ATI 45 that I got right after the NRA convention. TIA for all those that will give me some input. Ron
  5. this topic has gone over well hope more contribute   Thanks
  6. Thanks for the responses, hoping for a lot more responses, I am of the sme mind thought as both of you, I do carry when going to church it does hot and has not in the past stopped deadly shooting from taking place, and not sure that they sign would deter a staunch carrier from carrying while attending church.. I can see where if a church wanted to post it could do so out in the parking area somewhere so that they would then be able to ask someone that they think does not fit their idel picture of a member of the congregation and then ask the person to leave if found to be packing.. I am starting to nod off hope that we get more input tomorrow.
  7. I have been asked to do some research on this, and would like to know if anyone attends any where in the state that has it posted and members not allowed to carry, or for the most part all those that might answer are you allowed to sort of an unspoken code of silence? If not allowed is it plainly posted where all can see the signs and are all of the legal type os signs being used. Thanks to all those that will respond, and would like to hear pros and cons about carrying to church, or not and if not why not.
  8. I was 12 when living in so cal when the watts riots broke out, I worked in L.A when the Rodney King riots broke out and now here at 62 and not much has changed like mentioned above, the more they seem to change the more they stay the same and no real progress is made so sad.
  9. Oh ok cool thanks for the heads up
  10. In the end I think the one I have will make a great gun I anticipated in the beginning that I would need to go through it so for the price point thst you mention is not bad
  11. I'll have to wait a mon to gather the parts to change out, in the mean time I can get the RIA somewhat brole in and see how that goes, Thanks for all the advice.
  12. no not a lefty, but they came straight back hitting me in the head and not ejecting to the right like a person would expect them to,  and i either read or was told that even though that they are seperatly owned companies they are made in the same plant. the last part might not be accurate but not uncommen when dealing with something made in the pacific rim or china, I know of 2 well known welder manufactoring companies that sell welders that come out of the same factory look identicle but some of the innerds are different, the President of one of the companies even admitted it to me but try justifing it by saying that better parts were used in their welders Vs the competition and off of different lines in the same plant.  so it wouldnt again suprise me if works that way, that allows them to keep prices down for one maker and the other maker claiming that the the parts they use are better justifing a higher price. and yes ATI RIA and if you look athe mags they use they are the same maker
  13. I lived there for 58.5 more or less cept for the time i was in the Army ans a short stint in Alaska and Kali has had several water problems.  There was talk of a plant several years ago that was going to be built off of the coast out near Ventura if I recall correctly, had that been done there might not have been as big a problem today as there is.  But back then like now the tree huggers got in the way of doing it, if you have seen the Kali water duct it is truly something to see it travels from nother to southern kali and zigzags along the san joaquin valley, and if not mistaken there is also another pipeline that goes over the mountain from the coast to bakersfield, is that is a waterline then they could be doing more there for water.  Back in the late 70's and early 80's I drove truck everynight through the SJV during the summer and the humidity was terrible, think its bad here this is only a smiggen of what it was like back then in that valley.  To think of all the walnut trees and other fruit trees that the farmers are going to kill of intentionly because they cant water them is unthinkable, something has to be done and could have been done years ago but as usual politics got in the way.
  14. Well the ATI is on its way back and should be here tomorrow, and from the short conversation I had with the CSR on the phone I dont think they did much.  They adjusted the rear sight and from the converstion I was able to gather that they used several mags to test for failure to lock back and it tested well well with their mags.  so I thin they are returning the same mag, it would also eject up and straight in my forehead area and dont think they realized or did anything about that.  they also commented on my using a lot of lub on the gun and that it would run better without so much, if that is all that took place then the only good that came out of it is that they paid shipping and only took 2 weeks. So if that is the case then I got what i thought I got a gun that I will have to go through and rebuild.  On another note I also bought a RIA that I have yet to fire but the quality in the build is liek night and day, so for comming out of the same factory it is ammazing what goes on and it isnt even a China build.
  15. I do want to stay with all leather for my selections
  16. the Rock Island is a railed gun and I am looking for a nice leather holster for it, I am having a tough time deciding if I want an IWB or an IWB can some of you let me know what ya'll have and what you think, thanks in advance   Ron
  17. to add another question to the above, where would one fing a bcg for 7.62*39 for an ar configuration.  I am thinking of getting one for either my ar pistol or carbine.   thanks
  18. thanks i am still undecided as to which one but gonna get one of them
  19. so cat you have a benchsource I take it that you like it alot
  20. seems like a lot of choices and I am sure there must be more out there, Giraud has the advantage of loading several then sitting back and watch or doing something else.  The others load them 1 at a time and stay with the machine to load and watch, however I understand that some have been able to modify some of the others so that a case feeder can feed it.  For me what I have read although they are older posts is that Giraud has a few issues with shorter cases and the potential of them falling out or even jamming the machine, and if that happens there is the down time while a new motor is sent out, along with the build time and some comments on the speed adjuster not being as good as it could be and some spending more to change it out, although these were older posts.    The Ken Light needs water to run, seems like a pain to have to go through that step?  The other 2, Bench source, and Ballistic edge are similar yet Ballistice edge has 2 models, the higher end one seems like a nicer build, they are all very close in price point.  I know that there are some here who have the Giraud, I dont know if my volume would be such that I would need to load a tray like that along with the issue of shorter cases ( 300blk).  I know that I dont like the tool on a drill method that leaves me with a tough choice to make or so it seems, I like the ballistice edge higher end model and the twin tourch for faster in heat time.  Let me know what ya'll would decide on if you dont have the need to load a few hundred at a time in to the try.  I know it seems like going over the same old subject time and time again want to make the best choice 1 time with buyers remorse.   thanks
  21. Looking in to it ti see if they offer a vet discount
  22. So far so good shipped back on their dime on Monday got an email today that they received it today, hopefull they resolve all the problems that I brought.  Now that they have left N.Y. maybe their attitude will be a little better.
