that's a really great set up. love the ak. You should consider adding: cash and maybe gold/silver- credit cards might not work. couple bucks for fuel might save you some walking water carrier - I have a few life straws but you cant rely on a water source to be near you at all times. 25 miles aint noting to laugh at and hydration is the key. a metal canteen will allow you to boil water/cook as well. tinder - cotton balls in vasaline work great. I've started fires in pouring rain with cotton balls and a flint aluminum foil - can use it to cook with or provide a semi sterile surface. fold up a few square feet and wont take up much room. space blanket - cheap, light weight, and works. can supplement a sleeping bag in extreme cold spork bug spray meds - aspirin and Phenergan Maybe swap a few items out: electrical tape for duct tape - e tape is terrible if theres even a little moisture present. d tape has more uses. not too sure if you can get a really small roll of it though. tools for a good multi tool. - reduce weight and keep them centralized flashlight for a head lamp - hands free and most have a red lens built in recommendations: chain knot the 550 chord. once you take the tape off it will knot up and be a general pain in the ass. the chain knot will make it more manageable and wont tangle up as bad. prep you cat tourniquet. take the plastic off and loop one end through the buckle. its a bad day if that thing needs to see daylight and time will be a factor if it does. please don't underestimate lack of hydration. guys die from that all the time and ive seen it twice.

wouldn't be too difficult to reproduce from scratch. probably cost you in the $200 range to make it with the glass. the markings would be simple to do as well. all you would really need is a saw, drill, sander, and some time. drop me a line if you go that route if you have any questions.

Needing Holster Recommendations
whiterx replied to wvglockguy's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
not too clear on the requirements but if you need a retention system look to safari land. ive owned and used both the ALS and SLS systems and they work great and are very fast with a little practice. -
http://larue.com/larue-tranquilo-sound-suppressor-m308 While they didn't release too many specs I do know that Larue doesn't do anything half assed. The TranQuilo claims to reduce gas blowback and is repeatable. Watching the video, the locking system seems well thought out and made. Introductory price is $699 and you get one adapter for $50. If history repeats itself the regular price will be in the 1K+ range after the initial offering. My order is in....I'll let you know how it is in 4-6 months

I totally agree with you guys. I came really close to being burned by a company going bankrupt (legion firearms). should I wait to see what happens to colt or send it to someone like doug turnbull? I'm concerned with preserving the integrity of the gun. having a classic refinished by the manufacturer so I have paperwork showing the lineage really appeals to me. even more so if I ever get the archive letter. looking over the paper target, I found that the original owner had a colt 1911 I wouldn't mind having too.

Just picked up this sexy thing in a trade. Its pretty beat up but looks damn good to me. 1962 Colt Python with the original box and test target!! I think the plating is a bad refinish. The box claims that this one was born blue and I tend to agree. Called Colt and they couldn't tell me the original finish so I had to pay $100 for them to dig through the archives. In 100 days I should know then I can send it to Colt for them to restore to factory. The turnaround for that is around 9 months. So a year from now I should be getting a pristine python......hopefully they'll still be in business. Took it out last weekend and shot the hell out of it. And it shoots like a dream. Even convinced my son to take a turn after I mentioned the Walking Dead....go figure

Sadly I'm sure if you check gunbroker or eBay you'll find plenty of them. That's the nature of the beast

LaRue is running a sale on their triggers. $125 shipped maked down from $230. I don't have any experience with the trigger but I own several of their rifles, mounts, and other gear. Their stuff is always top notch and their triggers have been getting good reviews. I just ordered one and figured I'd pass the info on to the next guy. Below is their advertisement: http://larue.com/larue-tactical-mbt-2s-trigger Re: Advertising dollars and launching a new AR product. As many of you know. we've built a World-Class 2-Stage trigger in-house ... our MBT. As with all new items, one must get solidly established in the marketplace. And how is that done - with money. ... The marketing folks said we can go 2 ways ... 1) Throw money into print ads and wait very patiently for effect 2) Divide same money between 1,000 units, subtracting that amount off each one, sell them and let word of mouth do the talking. For this product, we've opted for #2. We know that fathers that follow our company are making some fine kids, so consider this a Father's Day rebate. For Father's Day, we're offering our slicker'n greased owl stuff MBT triggers, and a special MBT version of our renowned LaRue cap in Olive Drab for $125 total ... real close to half off. And we're kicking in a few days of free shipping too. What do we ask in return for this smokin' deal ? We want you to put our MBT trigger into your favorite AR, slap the cap on your head, then head to the range and try it out. That's all. Happy Father's Day, and as always, thanks for helping us hang near the top spot in our industry. Mark and Team LaRue

The price on these things have come down quite a bit. MSRP is still around $2300 but they are selling for $1500. Still a big chunk of change but hurts a little less.

Been wanting this since it was announced and I finally picked one up. <Insert happy dance>

There's a few on gunbroker in the $800 range

Well happy day to both of us Larry. Have you figured out how to get a sling on it with the brace?

It was $830 before tax.

Went in to pick up a rugger 22/45 and saw a CZ EVO just sitting there. Tried my best to leave without it but stuff happens. Sigbrace adapter is in the mail already. :woohoo:

FYSA I already have one but figured someone on here might find this info useful. Fill the rest of us in if you go through them. --from their site-- FACT: An NFA Gun Trust is the best way to purchase silencers and other NFA-regulated items. A properly-prepared gun trust has significant advantages for gun owners. It enables the use of NFA-regulated firearms and accessories among trustees, protects against potential future regulatory restrictions, and provides for the orderly transition of ownership upon death. It also tends to speed up the process for obtaining NFA items, eliminating the need for a Chief Law Enforcement Officer’s signature, fingerprints cards, etc. The EasyTrust is 50-state legal. The process of ratification will differ by state, but we’ll send you a document detailing the processes you’ll need to follow. We priced the EasyTrust at $129.99 – a fraction of the cost of typical gun trusts – to make it accessible to everyone. Reject the idea that a trust is a luxury item. In reality, it’s a must-have for anyone looking to #FightTheNoise. Once the purchase is complete, instructions will be sent to the email address entered during the checkout process. Please allow up to 30 min. for the instructional email to be sent. If you do not receive an email, please Contact us. http://www.store.silencerco.com/products/easytrust/

reading into it it looks more like a range with a few automatic weapons than a theme park. meh.

Walked into a local gun shop today and was looking to get a Silencer Co Sparrow. The guy behind the counter showed me and let me shoot a PTP Tactical 19D can. I shot 5 rounds and it did what it was supposed to do. Although the point of impact was about 4 inches low at 10 yards. Not sure if this is normal being that I'm green when it comes to suppressors. They didn't have a demo for the sparrow so I didn't have anything to compare it to. The main difference between the two besides the design that I could tell was the price (Sparrow uses a monolithic baffle and the 19D had interlocking cones). White SS Sparrow was about $425 and the 19D was going for $168. If there wasn't a $200 tax stamp (that I absolutely loathe paying) and months of waiting involved I would have picked up the cheaper 19D without hesitation and figured it out myself. A google search on PTP Tactical didn't turn up much besides their webpage. Does anyone have any experience with these guys? I do know they are based out of Kentucky and probably is a vet due to the naming of the can. Would anyone take the chance on this?
