Oh for sure. This just happened to be a 2011 thread. I'm definitely not knocking people for liking what they like and for paying what they can afford. More power to them. I'm sure there are also people who scoff at a $600 pistol because you can get a Hi-point for sub $200

I feel for her. Just gotta keep on keeping on I suppose. Or push for those better jobs and promotions. At least she's 24 so she's got plenty of runway to catch up. She's doing better than most just by having a place of her own.

I, like numerous other parents, have a child that's just graduated. It scares the heck out of me that he can't afford to live anywhere around me. Single bedroom apartments are charging rent that's as high as my house payment. So unless he buckles down and makes well over 6 figures (impossible at his age), he's gonna be living with me or shacked up with 2-3 friends 'house poor' in some crummy apartment.

I'm gonna get picked apart for this, but I just can't imagine spending the price tag for these firearms. I get the precision and craftsmanship. In fact I want one, but when i see some of these $4000+ pistols I have to ask myself "what kind of unobtainium is this made out of?" I'm sure there's a 'how it's made' episode out there that would dispel my thoughts, but nothing is gonna dispel the price. But hey.. wealth is all relative, right?

Wouldn't this technically be the Southern Lights? I got to see a few fleeting moments of it while driving. It was very cool but I couldn't shake the idea that we're only seeing that because a massive celestial entity bombarded our planet with a massive radiation ejection. Reminded me of the families in Pripyat who watched Chernobyl burn from a bridge and played in the falling ashes. *Supposedly*

I think I preferred calling them Locusts like back in my younger days. I don't think I even heard the name Cicada until I was much older. That being said... anything is good with Frank's Red Hot!

A year or two ago i was opening some driveway sealer. It had one of those plastic seal caps on it. I gave it a nice hard yank and the contents erupted like a kids baking soda volcano. luckily I was wearing a pair of sunglasses and had my mouth shut. I looked like Slimer got me from Ghostbusters. At first i was just shocked and then suddenly it started burning! I don't think i've run faster than I did to the garden hose. Took a fair amount of work to get it off and it tingled for probably a good hour or two afterward.

That got passed around in our safety team chat this morning. I don't know the backstory here, but it sounds like divine intervention to me!

I'm with you @Rainsford. I've had my safety education completed since 1996 and I've never been. I don't have close friends that hunt or own land. I don't own land and asking random folks if i can go shoot wildlife on their property seems unlikely. Plus i don't feel like getting shot by a moron on public land.
