  1. I'm sorry, but this is all i can see
  2. IT is like that some places. Luckily, tech support/administration is everywhere. So if you aren't happy, just find another gig. Especially if you've been there a few years. You're likely on the yearly nickel and dime raise routine. You may interview and figure out you're worth 20% more than what they're paying you.   Oh, and NEVER accept a counter offer from your current gig for 2 reasons   1.) why did it take me walking out the door to get a raise? 2.) they're already looking for someone to replace you. You're 1 foot out the door, so you'll likely just spend your time documenting and then being phased out.

    scary gun

A long time ago a buddy of mine asked me to identify a gun he said his grandfather brought home from WWII. The first thing I noticed was the broken plastic grip... he either made up the story or was told a lie. It's one of those Rohm .22lr revolvers. Worth a whopping $75 if you could find someone to pay full price for it.   Years later, I call him every now and then to ask when he's going to get the thing.. he still hasn't done so. If I ever see a gun buyback, i'm going to trade it in. $25 at Kroger would be waaaay more useful.
  4. My wife isn't a gun gal. If we went shopping, this would literally be the one she would choose. Even if it was inoperable.
  5. Talk about handgun...    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CdVTCDdEwI
  6. I'd like a do-over on the "Alien" series with Sigourney Weaver... Getting it right this time. The first one was great, part 2 will always be a top pick.. 3 wasn't even bad. But man, from there....   The whole universe... games, books, movies was pooped on. Timelines out of sync, characters die in one and not the other only to be renamed in a vain attempt to keep things in order.   Let's rewind, spread the infestation, get more colonial marine action and scrap anything else!
  7.   I run adblock plus and disconnect.me   I also still like the MVPS host file http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
  8.   My personal favorites are the out of state check-ins. My wife still uses it and we see her friends posting that they are at the beach currently. I've been tempted to go to their house and take a mock picture of me with a crowbar at their back door, but it would be my luck some turd would break in and then I would get the blame.
  9. It's been discussed on the news a few times and countless places online, but I just got off the phone with another scammer, so I wanted to tell the non-technical folks here that:   MICROSOFT DOES NOT CALL TO LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A VIRUS!!!!!   Twice this month I've had a scammer call me to say they work for "Windows" and that they have been informed that my computer has a virus. I'm an IT guy by trade. Yeah, not falling for it.. but we'll play the game to see what they want.   The scammer asks you to open the eventviewer, go to your system logs, filter it so that it only shows error messages and then proceeds to tell you that every error here indicates a virus. There will always be error messages here, that's normal, don't fall for it.    The scammer then requests you to go to a website, perhaps teamviewer, to have you establish a remote connection for them. If you follow these directions, you'll be handing your computer over to them. (Teamviewer is legit btw, just not in this instance).   The best thing you can do is simply hang up. They have your number, they know it works... don't give them a reason to continue to call it. You'll likely be unable to trace them back.
  10.   I'm a Trend fan as well. I've administrated Officescan servers for years. As long as you stay on top of keeping it current, it does the job. And, it's a lightweight client....
  11.   Norton advised a reset? As in a system restore or reformat? Odd either way.   Honestly, you're probably better off just factory restoring anyways. There's no telling what kind of breadcrumbs an infection can leave behind.   -PSA-   You see, the thing is, Antiviruses are a lot like doctors. Every time a new infection appears, people will catch it until they come up with a fix. It also doesn't help if the doctor is behind on his education (I.E. you're behind on updates). Granted that most of them have "patterns" they look for and most of them know how to look for suspicious behavior, but it's not foolproof. The idea is to blanket catch as MUCH as possible and patch in the rest over time.   Install any antivirus and you'll find they will ALL allow SOMETHING to get in. Oh, and don't think that means you need to install more than one.. that's a horrible idea :)   A common misconception is that you have to "download" an infection. Or "click" something. That's not the case at all. I often hear "I didn't download anything!". Yes you did! In fact, everything you view on the internet is downloaded to your computer! Did you know that even reputable websites can serve up an infection via advertising? I've seen MSN do it.    Quick scenario:  MSN (yes I know.. who goes there) has advertising. When you visit the site, the page is served up to you and they pull an advert from vendor X. Unbeknownst to MSN, vendor X has been compromised, so the add that MSN pulls serves you up a nice slice of malware pie. Suddenly you've got popups telling you that "Windows" has detected that you are infected and you need to download superspyblasterwebremover44pewpew! So it looks like MSN just gave you an infection. That's commonly referred to as a Drive By.   TL;DR - no antivirus is foolproof, but the idea is.... do you go into the storm wearing a raincoat and risk your shoes getting wet? Or do you just go without one and hope you don't get soaked.
  12. Yeah because that's what a high point needs.... more weight... ***edit*** On a side note.. i've always made jokes about using them as a hammer if the situation called for it. it would appear this owner realized this same potential :D
  13.   If they are anti-gun enough to post, which tells me they want to make a statement, they aren't likely to view it this way. They would likely just spin the story to say that had you never owned it in the first place, a criminal would have never gotten it.
  14. I'll miss the gaming social group. Though somewhat limited, it was active from time to time. However, if its departure makes way for additional forum improvements, all I can say is:
  15. LIES!!!!!!!
  16. I'm going to add his vocabulary to mine:   wife: Stan! Dinner is ready me: It's gettin hot!   Boss: We need to talk about your work performance me: It's gettin hot!   Police: You in the tac vest, put the weapon down, place your hands behind your head and turn around slowly!! me: It's gettin hot!
  17. I lost my 14 year old Shelty a few months back. He was my first child and we miss him dearly...   We're just now getting to the point where we would be comfortable with another dog. I don't really want another shelty as I think it would cheapen his memory. Looking into a Welsh Corgi but they are hard to come by and expensive if you do. Rescue versions seem to be mostly mixed which is fine but they look less corgi and more like the other breed.
  18.   if you like that, you should read some of the email chains here. Hilarious http://www.27bslash6.com/
  19. I had a good time hanging out. Was nice to meet folks and shoot the breeze. Makes the forum feel more "community".   Would have been more fun with some range time attached... but beggars cannot be choosers!
  20. Someone needed to operate that catwalk... I saw this a few days ago and cringed through it. But, it is Japan. He likely made a boatload of cash doing it. A lot of celebs go overseas to do commericals. Ever see the Arnie commericals? Those are just damned creepy.
  21. Ah cool. Count me in for 1
  22. Personally... that guy deserved every hole he got....   http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=869_1420833044   I'm also surprised they didn't shoot each other...
  23. But if I had me one of these, I'd start
