  1.   I have to fathom they view it almost like a drug. Those who do are less useful for society.
  2. Well, one redditor seems to have a different take on it. Seems like it's some form of "internet credit".   The article is written irresponsibly. Since the source it based on is a fabricated story. "open sesame" will open the door of hidden treasures for "Ali baba" (the company name behind it) based on Arabia fairy tales. Isn't it obvious this is at best a marketing stunt? "Sesame Credit System" is a 3rd party online reputation (called Credit but not really) evaluation and tracking system run within the boundary of services provided by "Alibaba", the giant internet company in China equivalent of Amazon+Ebay(Paypal)+Facebook. While this system is based on big data, it takes in user's internet posts, the product you bought, etc into account, then produces a credit score, which is used if you want to apply loan from the same company, all this happens within the boundaries of services provided by one company, Alibaba. So it is not too different from Amazon reputation, or Reddit karma. The difference is the sesame score is cleverly named "Credit Score" and it has a range between 0 and 900, to confuse people, especially those who lives in the US "Credit China" is a government run business complaint/case history tracking system, similar to BBB. It claims it also tracks 900k individuals, or 0.08% of the total population, however these individuals are most likely business representatives. This system does NOT generate a credit score as result. Unlike what the article claimed. The two systems are not linked in any way. So, the foundation of the article is based on a frictional, "would-be" story. The article assumes Ali's credit system is the ultimate version of government credit system. It's easy to see that is unlikely and not feasible because government does not have access to the intimate details of buyer-seller relation, among other information. They may attempt to obtain that information in a secret way (or through excuses like "state secret"), somehow. However, will they use secret info in a public credit score? My guess is unlikely. You must realize no matter how big Alibaba is, they still have competitors (in fact, many huge companies as competitors), and China also have anti-monopoly laws. Alibaba's system is not implementable at the State level, because it requires a virtual monopoly of e-commerce, online communication, phone, etc by ONE company. Be it private or state-owned, that is the end of Chinese economy. So even if the government will build a social credit system, it will be likely NOT based on online communications, your message on discussion forums, or buying/selling records. Those are still within each private company's database (like Alibaba). More likely, (and this is just my speculation) the government system is based on record of debt collection, loan, tax etc just like the US credit system today. The difference might be that it will be a government department, not three independent organizations, that keep credit scores. Then, there is the question of if your credit score needs to be accessible by other people. In most countries, you can pay a fee to get to know other people's credit score, for example, as part of background check. How easy/difficult Chinese government will make this process be, I can not predict.
  3. http://www.computerworld.com/article/2990203/security/aclu-orwellian-citizen-score-chinas-credit-score-system-is-a-warning-for-americans.html   From the article:   "In China, every citizen is being assigned a credit score that drops if a person buys and plays video games, or posts political comments online “without prior permission," or even if social media "friends" do so. The ACLU said the credit rating system, an Orwellian nightmare, should serve as a warning to Americans."
  4.   I'm sure 3 seasons from now they'll have a rewind of them leaving and the dad at the head of the table as they drove out will reappear. His entire family will have died and now he's a lunatic cannibal rapist who is seeking revenge.....
  5. Anyone notice that they drove off and left the gate to the neighborhood open? I know they mentioned the neighbors never helped them.... but that's a low blow.   Overall I'm unimpressed. The writing isn't very clever. It's like the writers decided ahead of time that everyone in this universe is a bad person (besides the main cast). They're either a cannibal, a rapist, a murderer, or a crazy person. Is it so hard to fathom that there might be normal people left in the world? I guess it's easier to write in a villain than to come up with something clever. Why not introduce some variations on the zombie? Maybe fast ones or something.
  6. If you'll read it again, I said I like him. I'm also keeping that fondness at face value so I don't accidentally learn that perhaps he's a Jimmy Carey type.
  7. This is the EXACT photo I had in my head when I posted above :D
  8.   Well someone had to figure out that you can suck spray paint fumes out of a bag to get high.......
  9.     I was yelling at the TV during this scene! LOLOLOL
  10. Fenix PD35 2014 here. I love my light. 1000 lumens on new batteries, 960 typical use on "turbo mode". Be prepared for it to get hot though if you run it on full for awhile. Oh and by hot I mean... HOT HOT.
  11. 3rd. If i'm able to attend, I would be driving from Nashville... that's a hump in rush hour.
  12.   I read an article yesterday that said people are getting vertigo watching it in 3d and more than a few people have lost their lunch. I've like JGL since he was on Third Rock from the Sun. He seems like a pretty alright guy. That being said, I will never look up his personality or political views so I can stay in fantasy land and not have him ruin it for me :D   Found the article https://www.gq.com/story/the-walk-audiences-vertigo
  13. I get American Rifleman, but the most I do is skim and rarely wind up reading any of it.     Oh how I wish I got the mailers. They call me constantly wanting money, sometimes multiple times a week... I'm all for the cause but I eventually had to threaten that I wouldn't renew if they didn't stop calling. I asked politely on multiple occasions to just be notified when my membership was going to expire but they still kept calling, so I had to get my feathers ruffled and take it out on some poor gal to make sure it happened.
  14. If you want a place to walk around with the Mrs., you could go to Opryland Hotel. I usually recommend it for out of town folks because it's not everyday you see a hotel that size. Plenty of walkways to get lost in the indoor gardens.   I don't suggest the mall next door however, unless you go to bass pro.. just don't buy anything since it's overpriced :)   If you're going to be around during a weekday. get to Gabby's by 10:50am (yes, 10:50.. don't show up there at 11-12,and expect to get a seat) and have arguably the best hamburger in town.
  15. That popup just shows you what the link is you're about to click. It's handy for when people try to mask a URL and trick you into going to www.google.com <----hover

I've done the same with my SKS and a T-53. Full refinish including reblue. I love doing it. It's fun!

  19.   I've read this version of the story from multiple accounts saying that the handicapped boy wasn't as handicapped as presumed and that the "hero" sucker punched the kid defending himself.
  20. I don't feel like he's a real conservative. In fact I think it's an act. I really hope I'm wrong... but it just seems like such a put on.    Everyone changes their opinions or stance at some point in life.. but Don here seems to have changed his stance on just about EVERYTHING, even in the last few years. Seems fishy to me.
  21.   This, is accurate. But expect to see leftist responses like "do you expect a war to break out at the burger hut"?
  22.   You're thinking about tapco   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEHMZZdSjCg
  23.   Experimentation perhaps? ala "we're only using the weak/sick so we're being ethical"   Maybe they've figured out that anyone who dies comes back, so they're taking away the potential risk.   But, knowing the walking dead writers.. it's probably because they're bad people motivated by nothing except power.
  24. I've met several TGO'ites over the last few years and thus far not a strange one in the bunch. Well.... I guess that depends on how you define strange :)   Met Rugerla just this weekend. Nice guy
  25. So I left out that I found a new Jeep and i'm picking it up tomorrow.   This left me with the task of cleaning out my 14 year old Ranger. I've complained about driving it for years. It's beat up and not much to look at. Frankly I'm surprised I can trade it in While cleaning it out I found the original booklets in the glove box and that sparked the memory of how I got it. I was 22 years old and I was getting married in July. The only credit I had was when I bought my fiance an engagement ring. I didn't even have a career. My first car from when I was a teenager was falling apart. My Dad told me that I needed to get a new car. Something that would last me awhile. My fiance was scared to death that I was taking on a car payment right before the wedding. But my dad insisted, did the haggling and co-signed for me.   I lost my dad back in 2006 to a massive heart attack. So here I am, at 36, just now preparing to trade off this truck that my dad helped me buy. He was always there for me, but that was the last major thing that he helped me with before I went off to learn what adulthood meant.    It's time to move ahead and while I know it's just a truck,.. it's like I'm giving away a piece of my history.   Thanks dad, I miss you.
