  1. I'm gonna throw things at you!
  2. Anyone watch this yet? I managed to make it through two episodes and so far I'm not very impressed. Not 2 minutes into the show and the "president" is harping on about wealthy people. It's saturated with liberal view points. Not to mention the weak plot points... some unknown threat destroys the capital building in an instant, but the remainder of the US government has no problem keeping the new president in the white house a few blocks away. Meanwhile, the police are racial profiling/beating middle easterners in the streets and the military wants to attack some random terror group just to prove a point.
  3. It's a real shame to see rust on that colt....
  4. This is probably because they're remaking "IT". we all float down here.....
  5. Oh I'll take vmware over hyperv any day, I just mean against cloud providers...it's on the decline. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  6. Depending on the age of the AS400, your dumpster might not be substantial enough for it. Especially if you're ditching DASD along with it! I'll never forget the time an old employer sent me to configure a disaster recovery site in Orange County CA. Along side our vmware servers, NAS and switch, we had to power up a 400. the DASD cabinet was on rollers which worried the VP at that office because of quakes. About that time I look up and notice that they had sprinklers in their datacenter. I asked him about it and found out that Halon was illegal in CA. News to me.... At about 1am I finally got around to plugging up the 400. I hook up that monochrome monitor and plug in my RJ11 connector, curly cord keyboard. lol I've got my headphones on, jamming out to some metal and i hear this "craaaaaacccccckkkkk" over the music. I look up and the monochrome monitor literally burps a mushroom cloud of smoke, spews some sparks and then bursts into flames. Total. Bleeping. Panic. The monitor was sitting on top of the DASD cabinet and the flames were damn near the sprinkler head. I didn't know where a fire extinguisher was so I boot the door open, grab the monitor and take off sprinting. Notice I didn't say I unplugged it first.... Me, the monitor, the steel girders they call cabling, the keyboard and the 400 go flying out the door. I spotted a fire extinguisher about 7 cubes down. The 400 caught on the door frame so I just jerked as hard as possible and ripped the cable. Chucked it on the floor and hammer this thing with the extinguisher. After it was out, i realized their 3rd shift crew is just standing there staring at me like prairie dogs. the VP tried to give me a safety speech the next day. I cut him off and said "look, it wasn't pretty, but I saved your DC from becoming a swimming pool. I'm embarrassed enough about it without a lecture". To my surprise, he just nodded and said "sure".

  8. I barely even pay attention to what vmware is doing these days. They're losing the race pretty handily..stinks, I really liked them. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  9. As an infrastructure guy I certainly see this coming. I see it with older generations in my field as well. Those who refused to learn anything beyond the AS400 or never picked up AD after Novell. Virtualization scared off a lot of my breed and now it's IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. It's like that with anything IT related. You either get current and see distant or you find some backward thinking shop that hates the cloud and make the same paycheck until the day they shut down.
  10. That's just the starter achievement you get for participation. Later on it gets difficult.. Wait till you get to the 360 no scope....

  15. Just outside of downtown Nashvegas it was $2.29 today. Complete crap considering that gas was already sitting in the tank at the station......
  16. Hey wait a minute.... ShamelEss plug... One of the nice things that I intentionally designed into the TGO decals is the fact that at a casual glance, they don't looK like a gun-RelateD decal. TheRe are So many Tennessee trI-star deals out theRe that people just see it as one of those unleSs they are really paying attention. EOKRDERSTIRS ORDER STICKERS
  17. Think you'll need 300mbps? I have a family of 4 who live on streaming sites and 90 serves us fine. I ask because you could possibly save some money. I don't know your expertise in the field but a common misconception is "I need as much speed as possible". 300mbps is the size of the pipe coming to your house. It doesn't mean you'll be downloading videos, games, etc at 300. If you download a video from a remote server and they limit their bandwidth to 30mbps, you get it somewhere around 30mbps. Almost every business that serves up content is going to have a bandwidth cap, otherwise their pipe would be eat up constantly and we would move back to the days of dialup speed. You may know all this, just food for thought.
  18. I think what he's saying is that he's buying the normal tactical and wants to know who can mod it to look like the one in his photo. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  19. I hate Comcast. No no... I LOATHE Comcast. I hate their support, I hate their ever changing bill. I hate their misc fees. I hate their on site service. I hate their ever changing acceptable use policy, I even hate people that I know who work for them. Outside of that, the service itself isn't bad. The X1 package is pretty slick. Just don't expect them to ever handle your account properly. I currently have 2 Comcast accounts. I don't know why, they can't explain why and they can't seem to get rid of the second one. They charged me for a set-top box for 3 years that I didn't have. I had to get a replacement DVR and they sent me 4 and said I needed to pay a month for them as well as the cost to ship them back. I use my own modem and for whatever reason, they won't delete my old ones. If I call in for an issue I have to grill the rep to verify they are checking the correct modem. You can expect almost every call to get a Philippine female who reads from the script and knows almost nothing about basic networking. If you ask for a manager, they are usually transferring the call to the gal in the seat next to them who doesn't provide any more insight. A few rules of thumb 1.) When it comes to equipment, try to deal with your local office. The people on the phone will screw it up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. 2.) You're going to be paying your bill a month in advance. Don't let their website fool you. If it says your bill is $300, you probably only owe $150 for the month you used 3.) Escalate immediately. I find its best if you can get someone in billing. They seem to have just as much capability as the phone rep, and they can work on your account 4.) If you have problems, you can pretty well get a $20 credit on every call. You'll need it because your bill will change on the wind. Just say "I want some compensation" and they'll usually give it to you. 5.) NEVER TAKE THE DEAL. If they tell you about some package that is going to give you more and cost you less....there are strings attached. Usually it's for 6 months, maybe even less and then your bill will skyrocket 6.) Sometimes they will offer you something like 1 year of free HBO to make you feel like you're getting something of value. It's a lie, I've been through this 3 times and the billing people have told me over and over that the MOST they can even give is 3 months. A lot of those reps will lie to get you off the phone. There's no accountability for the reps, I've tried to get them in trouble and the lies just keep coming. 7.) Contrary to #5, Threaten to cancel with Billing and billing only at least once a year. You'll suddenly pay less and have better service. It's never permanent but you can relax for awhile. 8.) ALWAYS check your bill. it will change (already said this, but it's important enough to mention again) 9.) Buy your own modem/router. They charge you monthly for a crap modem and a crap router. Ask @BigK. I moved him to an AC router and his signal strenght went through the roof! 10.) Always remember this video (bad language)
  20. You mean it was just a ost about " the boys" with no photo????? Bwahahhahaha Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
