I'm about to be 45, so our ages aren't close, but this kinda thing gives me pause because we have at least one case of alzheimers in the family. If you're anything like me, if any medication has a side effect, i'm sure to experience it. I think the key for a lot of folks in my family has been to keep moving. It's very obvious the difference between folks in their 70s who are "out and about" vs the ones who sit most of their day. While not direct family (and genetics also play a role) my father-in-law starts each morning with a few sit ups and pushups. I won't say that they're text book, but the guy is 72 and still very spry. He also walks their dog 4-5 times a day. He keeps moving I know what you're thinking, what's that got to do with memory? but being engaged in something like a hobby, taking a walk, reading a book etc. forces you to think on your feet. Obviously you have to limit that to what you can do in your present condition, but just getting out of the house and engaging with others may help that. I fully plan to be that guy at the local Hardees drinking coffee and having a biscuit once I retire (Lord willing). If you don't use it, you lose it.. my wife reminds me of that all the time.

I had buddies who would go to Shoney's all you can eat breakfast and sit all day so they rolled into lunch. Speaking of all you can eat. I sure do miss the all you can eat ribeye -

Keeping with the TV theme. When your console TV (which was a piece of furniture nobody wanted to do away with) died, so you put a TV on your TV. -

My great aunt had old school sulfur water. Gah that was awful. I'll never forget that taste. -

Sometimes you put a condom on the banana, some times the 380 thunder goes in your mouth... Proof positive that sex can be dangerous. -

It sounds like your grandson is a productive member of society and he values you enough to catch up often and is introducing his lady friend to you... most kids grandparents are an afterthought. As for your ex... well... that's her loss. -
This is me. My construction ability can be best described as "janky"

I got lucky because my grandfather never made me cut tobacco. But I did spend a lot of time picking strawberry's and almost every weekend I sat on the tailgate of my poppa's truck at the farmers market. Sure wish I had that farm! Now it's a sub division.... -

That has to be tough sir. It made me think hard because just as i finished reading it I heard my son yell "bye dad, i'm going to meet up with Grant". Made my stomach knot up a bit, not gonna lie. How cool though that your grandson still checks on you weekly! You must have made a good impact on him.
