  1. I got ya. This rifle will probably be a great shooter for someone, but you're right, I am interested in something more original with a little history.   Thanks guys.
  2. All the band had on it was MKIII and FR stamped below that on the side opposite the bolt. The bolt side where you usually see the crown and and what I thought should be a SMLE and 1918 stamp was just blank.
  3. Problem was I only saw a number on the muzzle piece and the bolt and they didn't match.
  4. Hey guys, I was looking at an Enfield today and was hoping for some help. It's a Mk III and best I can tell it's a 52 Aussie. Thing is, it doesn't have the zillions of stamps I've seen on others. it just has a bunch of crossed flags. The stock looks refinished and it doesn't have any stamps either. it's not hacked up or missing parts. It's $220. Should I pass on it? Thanks.
  5. I guess that's a silly question, I'm sure some of you are. I'm not real hip on rifle powders and was wondering what folk's favorite brews are. Even though I have a press, I'm thinking about the Lee whack-a-mole kit. I wouldn't want to pound out a 1000 handgun rounds with it. But for the relatively few rifle round I would make, it seems like neat all-in-one idea.
  6. I was wondering what popped this thread back up. I think I've run about 500 rounds through my G17 with SRP primers and I have never had a fail to fire. Maybe the Glock has just a tad heavier striker spring. I finally scared up some SPP pretty soon after writing this and just used the SRP for FMJ bullets and reduced loads. I did run 20 rounds each of the same powder charge with each primer and then Crony'd it and surprisingly there was very little difference. I know 20 of each isn't conclusive, it did show me not to worry. It was surprising that the SRP had a smaller Sd.    That said, the "your mileage may vary" holds true.
  7. Dang my elbow hurts. I can barley extend my arm out fully and of course it's my strong shooting hand. My big question is it tennis elbow or golfer's elbow? One's the inside pointy bone and one's the outside pointy bone. Their are a couple of treatment exercises but you need to which one.   Anybody else worn their arm out on the press?
  8. I've ordered A LOT reloading supplies from Cabela's this year and they have always been top notch. I wouldn't throw them under the bus for one glitch when half the U.S. tries to order a brick of 22 simultaneously.
  9. I wonder if it is a mechanical issue or ignition materials? LawVol said he had a hard time with high primers and I would wonder if that doesn't complete the seating of the anvil in the cup t get the two close enough together. I've been using a lot of small rifle primers in place and my striker fired guns never fall to ignite them so surely the Wolf SPP aren't guilty of thick cups.
  10. Shoot a few, go to the press and make a few. Lather, rinse, repeat.  Man, I miss talkin' about reloading.
  11. My 22's can sit and rust before I pay anything above retail on 22 ammo. If retail goes up, so be it.    You're probably preachin' to the choir for a lot of folks here.
  12. Did you see the high tech shop picture? I think I have the same Harbor Freight bench grinder. Notice the garage door and tactical plywood tables.
  13. I've cleaned it both times now after I shot it. If they weren't corrosive, I might get lazy with the cleaning. Like my poor 22's.   Hopefully it doesn't make too weird that I like cleaning my guns.
  14. ASP in Joelton has the Ruger that you can rent on the range. Greenbrier Guns and Leather has a Sig but I'm not 100% sure it is that one. I have shot them both and the Ruger is my absolute favorite. Since you're in Nashville you could check them both out in one Saturday.
  15. I was hedging my bet towards yes and spent some quality time with the Hoppes right after shooting it to make sure. Thanks guys.
  16. Hey guys, I got some good ol' surplus ammo for my Mosin and the LGS said it wasn't corrosive but I've read that it all pretty much is. It's copper washed with a steel core bullet and has the headstamp 52 on top and 80 on bottom. It's also berdan primed with red lacquer sealer on the mouth and primer.   So would you reckon it is corrosive?
  17. That's what I've always done if a particular brand of plated bullet wasn't in my manual. I'll play it safe and use the lead load and then Chrony 10 of them. My Rainier's seem to be right around the same powder charge as lead but Berry's seem like they can take more powder than lead like Frank and Caster said.
  18. Thanks guys. No my bayonet number is different, but I kinda figured it would be. I'll also have to do some light "polishing" inside it to fit. Don't think I'll be running around much with on any way. Hopefully the next time I shoot it, I'll keep my eyes open.
  19. Hey guys, I picked up a "new" Mosin on Sunday. I'm really stoked about it being my first WWII-type relic. Sure, I'd love to have a Garand but those are a little out of my price range. I think this 1942 Izzy is in really good shape. The bore looks great and it came with all the goodies. It may not matter to everybody, but all the numbers match right down to the buttplate. Curiously though, it isn't a laminated stock. It's just the 2 piece with the dovetail on the bottom piece. Do the stocks get replaced in the refurbishment process? After a little chamfering of the bolt rim, it locks right in and I sent 5 rounds through the yard. Just got done with the quality time with the Hoppes.
  20. Mine is having the problem with the bolt in the first part as well. I polished the extractor and it got better. I'm definitely going to chamfer the bolt face next.
  21. I rented one at the range yesterday and it was great! It was solid as a rock and it ran about 80 rounds without a hiccup. Just as accurate as I was. The problem is, since it is still scarce in some areas, prices are all over the place.
  22. Don't hear a lot of Primus in shooting vids!
  23. You're a benefactor so you can post a wanted in the classified section.
  24. I used that same die set for my 9mm for a while. I ended up getting a Lee turret press and needing the powder through expander. I backed the crimp off the Hornady die so it wouldn't crimp. I ended up getting the Lee Taper crimp as well.
  25. Cool, I was about 2 nanoseconds away from asking you if there was a match tonight.
