Where do you shoot at? I have a Barrett 82A1, I shoot at Terrys in Manchester and a freinds farm in Moore county, longest shot is 400yrd+/- I luv spotting for my 14yr old son, I can't ever see the bullet impact because the shock wave scares the hell out of me AND he gives me a 5 second warning for when he is about to pull the trigger...He shoots from the prone position and I'm in a chair 10' behind him.. I should give up the spoting scope and buy some APIT and use binoculars...LOL
When we farmed we had several fields I could reach out to 1500 yards. The problem with owning and shooting a 50 is the the back drop what's back there to stop the bullet? I shot into the woods which were about 400 yards deep but then I thought one day what if someone was there and I didn't know it? Now the rifle is mostly a safe queen and only time I do shoot it is when I meet up with my buddies in Milan GA where we shoot it out past a mile.

Boy Scouts of America close to changing membership requirements
jphillips63 replied to daddyo's topic in General Chat
Well I guess they are caving in unfortunately kids can be cruel and I'm sure if they find out there's a gay member in the unit they will deal with them personally. -
I use google checkout myself

I'm not sponsored in any way, typically to have a custom rifle built from time the order is placed and time for delivery is about a year wait. So I make a decent deposit to get the project started and save my pocket change for the time frame on wait. During that time I'm buying my reloading supplies my scopes my rings and what ever gear needed. That helps the so called out of pocket expense at one time. My 50 BMG is built on a McMillan single shot action KP barrel clam shell break Jewell trigger and McMillan LG stock the rifle weighs 37 # and is legal for FCSA competition. Cost of this rifle alone when built 4800.00 original scope was a mark 4 with premier boost to 32x now it has a NF 12-42 NXS I'll get some pics uploaded soon for you guys.

When I go down to Ga and meet up with some of my friends in Milan I normally take the 338 Lapua and my 50 BMG and put on a show of shooting Gallon jugs and 3 Liter coke bottles at a mile. There are a few cotton fields down there that allows to get to that distance. Longest kill on a PD was North of Sturgis and that shot was 2200 yards.

Ah ok. I can think of a few why nots, but I've always been different than most. I've never followed the pack on the "in" thing I've always taken the more challenging routes in competition shooting. It's had it's up and downs but once mastered it's self rewarding. Here's an example... http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek030.html

Those are 10 shot groups as well.

The 30 Boo Boo is based of an 8x68 RWS case resized and fire formed it's a design Dave Tooley came up with and is very accurate
-
It's a solid Billet stock highly polished and the action is a Bat the barrel is 1.5" and is set in a barrel block, the rifle was built by Bruce Baer and the rest also built by Baer, the rest is a two piece to be legal in IBS and is fully adjustable front and rear wind age and elevation. I'm the second owner of the rifle and I had it redone and balanced a bit better for my liking. As for accuracy yes it's very accurate it has shot 4" at 1000 yards and sub 2" at 600 yards. I currently have it chambered in 30 boo boo and a 22 dasher with two different bolts for each caliber. It's a work of art and a job in itself to keep polished.

Thought I would share my reloading setup. I'm a bit partial to Dillon but I do have a few custom arbor presses and other goodies inside the cabinets.

You instill in them just as I was taught and I taught my son they are not toys and they are very dangerous. It's about parenting and if your kids arent disciplined correctly then you fail as a parent. Yes kids are curious but they also have fear of punishment and what can happen if they are shown properly what damage a firearm can do.
I mean, I fully support legislation which stiffens the penalty for criminally negligent parents who don't secure their firearms and let their thug kids use them for crime. .
Ok now you saying that a parent is negligent if they don't secure there firearms in a safe or apply some sort of lock on them if they have kids in the home? It's a bit funny if this is the case then I must of been a bad parent and so were my parents. Growing up there were firearms all over the home and loaded. I never took one or even touched them nor did my kid when I was raising him. I find that comment a bit harsh and biased and out of line for parents who have kids and firearms in the home.

Sponsors pulling out of Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show
jphillips63 replied to KahrMan's topic in General Chat
The public also needs to not support the show by spending there money at the local gun shops or vendors who pulled out instead paying to enter. -
Sounds like sour grapes rather than price gouging. :bored: This thread doesn't even deserve to exist. Closing it and editing the title. It's not fair to that business for some pissed-off non-customer to come here and gripe about them when the price is within current market range for that item. We're not Craigslist. Drive-by mud slingings aren't welcome here.
I've purchased many items from this business in the past and recently purchased 2 handguns so in reality I'm no drive by mud slinger nor am I pissed. I was just passing along what I thought was price gouging on magazines when dealer cost is 10.00 and less per mag. and they were recently 15.00 cheaper. Anyhow it appears its acceptable for such pricing here and my apologies.
-
I agree shops are entitled to make profit and they have the right to price items as they see fit. 3x over dealer cost is a bit on the gouging side when before the panic he had them 15.00 less. I've always felt that you treat others as you want t be treated.
-
Went by the gun shop the other day and he had a few brownells 30 rnd mags on the shelf I asked the price and he said 35.00 each I said my peace and walked out. James

CZ makes a good bolt action rifle worth looking into. Marlin makes nice cheap 22LR and ruger has some nice 22LR handguns and yea even the 10/22 is a nice rifle. I'm not up much on all the shotguns I bought yrs ago the Winchester Defender and it sits right next to my bed loaded with 00 buckshot. I think if I were to choose an inexpensive handgun I'd choose the Kahr over a high point or the likes. They just seem to be smoother and feel better in my hand. There really are many choices out there and right now in reality is don't buy wait till the craze is over. I see the ar's are now dropping in price so soon the market will be flooded with them. Glad to see you're coming back into the sport. I myself took a break for a few years sold off my benchrest rifles and kept a few to. Now I regret selling anything it's gonna cost me 1/2 again over what I got for mine to replace them. James
