Calif judge tells Lowes quit playin w my wood
npgunner replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
What I've gotten from this thread is ... Many people over estimate the size of their wood ... And The size of you're wood shouldn't be an issue if you know what you're doing with it ... -
Where did you find it so cheap? I say "cheap" because I finally found it at the liquor store off exit 398 and they want $299! :stunned: I don't feel like driving to Lynchburg for it.... tho it would be a good excuse to take a tour.
If you ever make it to Nashville I can tell you a place that still has several of last years Sinatra's sitting on the shelf. Same price $149.
Picked up a bottle of Elijah Craig 12 yr several months ago but only recently opened it. It's really good. Nice and smooth without much bite. Not as much burn as I expected for 94 proof either. Moderately priced... I think I got it on sale for about $32.
One of my favorites and always have a bottle on hand. If you ever get to try the barrel proof version it's also delicious. The bottles I have are 134 proof so it's got some burn, but still full of flavor.

Wife and I have been looking for a new church in Hermitage/MJ area as well. Tried a few in Herm and were in-impressed. Tried one other in MJ and it was too "old-school." We've been to Joy the last 4 weeks and have really enjoyed. Everyone seems really friendly, but we haven't tried anything else to connect with other people just besides going to the service. They have several groups we plan to attend at some point when our schedule allows. Music: pretty "modern" ... no piano, organ, and choir here; praise team band with several singers Service length: 1.0 - 1.5 hours; kind of a "typical" planned service ... singing, stand and welcome, announcements, tithe, sermon, invocation Preaching: the guy is a good speaker and can hold your attention, sometimes gets a little off point telling stories; doesn't hold back and will tell you things straight, but one gripe I have is often when he tells you something that might make people uncomfortable, he'll quickly cover it with something more light-hearted (a joke or something) ... which to me sometimes draws attention away from the point he just made. As someone who knows a thing or two about presenting to groups, he follows a good "prescription" to his sermons ... 6-10 minutes of talking, then a distraction (video, demonstration, etc.), then more talking ... this helps hold attention over a long period Topics/Beliefs: right now doing a series on parenting, which is good for is as were new parents ... doesn't just tell you "what" you need to do, but practical ways to accomplish those things ... General feelings: congregation can sometimes be a bit charismatic ("amen-ing" things or clapping for things that I don't know why there doing such); but as a whole it's a really nice place, friendly people Service times: Sat night and Sunday morning. We've only been Sunday morning. They also have a Wednesday night offering of some sorts. Outreach: they have a lot going on from a mobile food truck they feed people with a few times a season to a very in depth and involved ministry to local police forces. I know they seem to do a lot with MJPD and MJ Swat (may have something to do with selling their old building to MJPD), but also some Metro stuff also. Financial: they preach to be debt free and also are debt free, paid for current building cash outright (may not be a big deal to everyone, but I appreciate this aspect) Kids: new children's minister hired (their first to serve on a full-time basis), fairly well developed children's ministry on-going I'd say give it a go. We've enJOYed (see what I did there?) the times we've gone and plan to go back. Also, as a first time guest you get special parking (they'll put a candy bar on your window during service) and a coupon for free coffee at their coffee shop. Our family really likes Brentwood Baptist and their Tuesday night Kairos offering. For us, this is closer and Dailey equivalent so this is where we will probably land long-term. Oh with regards to carrying ... it's not posted. I've always carried and never had an issue (although I conceal). You're likely to run into several uniformed and un-uniformed officers at the church, they have all been very friendly to me. Sorry to be long-winded. It's probably the whiskey starting to talk.

Haha. Didn't mean to offend! Just googled "awkward pants" or something like that and chuckled at the pic.

I mean I'm just sayin' ... this guy doesn't look to be in peak physical condition and he was able to runaway from an FBI SWAT team? Maybe they should stop worrying about the preppers and hit the treadmill ...

I got a bunch of 1950s $20 bills from the bank a few months ago, that looked just like those (with a 20 obviously). They were all cut just a little bit wrong (margins weren't correct). I always ask for "old" at the bank and spend to circulate it around (gets lots of funny looks from the 16 year olds at chic-fil-a handing them a $2). Anyway ... I got $120 worth. Tried to spend it somewhere and got told it was fake. Tried to go a different place, they used one of them markers on it; told me it was fake. Went back to the bank and they laughed. They said it was all real money and the markers aren't good for checking the older bills (something about the paper). Anyway, they traded me for new bills to avoid the hassle. I guess I'll stick to passing $2 bills and $1 coins to the young'ens.

Picked up a couple new ones today. Orphan Barrel Barterhouse and a store select barrel proof single barrel OESO Four Roses. Had a chance to pick up the Orphan Barrel Old Blowhard, but passed. Thinking I may have made a mistake. Anyone had a sample of this?

Going with a standard tonight. One bottle closer to completing the stopper collection.

22 lr in stock cheap Gander Mountain Mount Juliet
npgunner replied to wileecoyote's topic in General Chat
Went this afternoon (around 330) and they had no 22LR out. Overheard someone say they had sold their stock for the day much earlier (didn't say what time though). I looked around and left empty handed. Store was nice and clean, lots of guns, shirts, etc. Seemingly friendly staff. Was really hoping for some .22 but I guess I was kidding myself. Kind of a shame you have to be there before they open to get any. Puts the workin' man with "normal" business/work hours at a disadvantage I'd say. -

Haven't gotten much into Rye Whiskey (besides the occasional crown, which is Canadian). What would be a good one to start with? Have heard good things about W-Pig, but at $75 a bottle locally it doesn't seem like what I'd start with.
