  1. vocabulary and spelling are different things ... knowing a word, and being able to spell it are WAY diffurnt
  2. I'll echo the sentiment that he is extremely tall and extremely nice.  I've ran into him several times in Greenbrier.   He also has a pretty cool belt buckle.
  3. can you guys see my pics above?  they won't load on my computer for some reason ... i can see them on my phone though. sorry for such a random thought in an otherwise awesome thread!
  4. I've heard this before, thought about it, and wish this is the way it was done.  As is now, most people don't "notice" exactly how much they pay in taxes, especially if at the end of the year they get money back.  If they had to write a check for the amount they pay in a year, they would "feel" it in a much different way.  This is why people hated the tax collectors so much back in the day.  I've also heard that the % tax rates that ultimately resulted in things like the Boston Tea Party where SIGNIFICANTLY less than what people pay now a days.  I think if there was a way for people to really feel the overwhelmingly burdensome tax rate we have now a days, we would stand a fighting chance at some real change in America.
  5. Holy WOW! Talk about being spoiled by my Secret Santa!! One of the benefits of working night shift is being home when the UPS man makes his early deliveries, and today's came around 0900. I shuffled out of bed to get the packages (we received several today). Figuring they were all for my wife, I put them all on the table and went back to bed (am working tonight). I awoke to find that all but one box had been opened. I asked her why she hadn't opened it to find out "oh, that one is for you honey, it's your secret santa gift from TGO." I thought to myself, that box is huge! :stunned: Being slightly frustrated that I hadn't noticed this earlier, I quickly ran for my trusty knife to open the package with. I took a few pics along the way from start to finish. The monstrous box. Opened it and pulled out all the packing paper to find a Drago Tracker backpack. I was totally pumped about that since I have been looking for a 3-day pack for sometime now. :woohoo: Pulled it out to look through the pockets and thought to myself "this thing feels kind of heavy." Got the big pocket opened to find a bunch more goodies! 2 Blackhawk mag pouches, 2 G19 mags, 2 G23 mags, a Drago 16" expandable baton, and some 5.11 socks! What an awesome Secret Santa!! The wife and I argued whether the baton was an appropriate means of discipline for our soon-to-be son (due in April), but I think we both agreed there are probably better options. My carry guns are the the G19 or the G23, so the mags and pouches are awesome. And the socks (which I've worn to work tonight) are really comfortable and warm, but not too thick to make your shoe feel full. Thanks Santa for such an awesome gift!  :woohoo: :hat:
  6. I have some of all. Fenix, 4sevens, Surefire, Streamlight, Jetbeam (well, used too anyway), even an old Leatherman flashlight. I like them all. Sometime I prefer the simplicity of the on/off high/low Surefire, and sometimes I like the lumens/options on the others. My standard carry is a 4sevens quark tactical (love the super low) and my little Leatherman single AAA. Funny thing is, I used to make fun of my buddy for carrying lights all the time. Once I started carrying them I found out how useful they are and I never knew it!
  7. The G21 is a great shooting gun. Couldn't recommend it more. Then again ... I could say that about any Glock!
  8. Take the order, make a really awful tasting cake.  Or tell them you can't make the cake because you're too busy.  I get that the tolerance issue in America is well beyond out-of-control, but why would you invite such a scenario on yourself by telling them you won't serve because they are gay.  There's been enough of this crap in the news lately to know how it will play out.
  9. Only thing I'll add is that my mindset is: "shoot to stop the threat" and not "shoot to kill."  Stopping the threat may mean the threat is dead, it may also mean the threat is incapacitated and there is no longer a reasonable fear for my life.  The difference in those mindsets may be the difference in a justifiable shoot, or a manslaughter/homicide charge.
  10. So what you're saying is its possible for the gov' to come back in a wheel chair with Carol's help?!
  11. They'll never do it, but I wish e-tailers like Amazon would just stop doing business with ANYONE in states like this. It might give the populace something to gripe to their representatives about. Put out some TV ads saying that "we aren't selling to anyone on NY because of this law passed by these people (name them)." I realize they're probably contractually obligated to some stuff in the state and blah blah blah, but in a perfect world that would be such a beautiful response to crap like this.
  12. I'm imagining this to be like in the hunger games when the sponsors send gifts. All of us out in our yards waiting for amazon packages dropping from the sky with parachutes.
  13. I've often wondered how low their viewership would be if every gym in America didn't have their channel running 24-7 in the cardio section.
  14. Ya know ... kieefer could have said the same thing about that 20-something blonde until he "looked under the hood" and found gonorrhea or herpes. No way it's worth the money then. An un-declared rebuilt title, flood car, or all around shady deal is likely to result in "carpes" ... a pesky booger of a car disease where you can't fix it and you can't get it to go away. I wouldn't feel bad if I were you. You practiced safe car buying by pulling out before you got ahold of something that might require long-term treatment.
  15. Whalberg is also known to be pretty strongly anti-gun, at least so says Guns-n-Ammo. http://www.gunsandammo.com/2012/02/24/8-surprising-anti-gun-celebrities/ Don't get me wrong. I appreciate his willingness to stand up for the military in front of these Hollywood p****s. Just wish he had his head screwed on right all the way.
  16. Umm ... if the "redskins" is an offensive NFL team name, then I take offense to being called a "redneck." All my ancestors buried in the hills back there didn't live their lives making moonshine for y'all to disrespect them with derogatory names like "redneck". Now y'all thank about that while I go fiddle with my guns.
  17. What the **** is wrong with the future of America that this sort of thing is "ok?" The thing is, those of us who carry and believe in self-defense, there's nothing you would likely be able to do to prevent this (besides not being in the wrong part of town, etc.). http://www.kisscleveland.com/pages/java.html?article=11815092&desktop=true&desktopviewduration=72000
  18. I had the same thought. She was like "why are they making fun of this? That program is helping so many!"
  19. The Sinatra was priced at $149.99. I had essentially a "we pay tax coupon" so actually paid $149.99 for it. Hopefully that wasn't a rip off?
  20. I'll have to look for the VW line. I just picked up a bottle of the JD Sinatra tonight. Haven't opened it and won't until something special comes up. Also got some of the Prichard's double chocolate and will open in a few minutes (have never had this). Also found some JD Winterjack. Hadn't heard/seen this before but supposed to be cider-ish. Anyone tried it before?
  21. Union says the street sweepers should have been asked to sweep before painters told to paint. Not the fault of the painters. Management and taxpayers clearly at fault. Will be suing for emotional damages because of news story calling them "lazy." Also, will demand raise if expected to move branches in the future.
