Camping (usually in a popup): 870 12 ga. in camper and G19 on hip - SW BG .380 in pocket Hiking: G19 on hip SW BG.380 in pocket I actually encountered more bears in CT in 2 years than the other 47 in TN....was at a friend's house in Barkhamstead and one was casually wandering through their blueberry bushes, and in Woodstock while fishing had one swing in to take a look. Even if you move to East TN you likely won't see one unless it's in Cade's Cove.

I found a .pdf that's downloadable. Googled it. Pretty interesting.

Hah. Didn't mean it to be left handed. Usually when I want the quick answer to a question I have come up, I just search through your posts. OSapedia, sort of. -
Sweet. I can't even think of anything else to add. Just. Sweet.

I've got a G19 and G26 that I can't even find half the time because the wife's got 'em strapped on. Had to tell her if she must have two guns with her, please leave me at least one Glock for me! probably gonna have to expand my plastic herd from a mere 2.

What Georgia's 'Extreme' New Gun Law Allows
homeagain replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yup. But probably no more facile than the suggestions of some that the gubment should further erode at-will employment by restricting an employer's ability to terminate employees and telling them what is/is not allowable on their property. -

I'm writing this in my calendar! OS with a question.....usually has the answers for the rest of us. Of course, I had no idea either.....I just thought it noteworthy that there was a piece of information that had evaded OS. Rare info, indeed! -
Aaand again. Had one working.... Hung up and went off property. Pesky little critter didn't like my sexy talk today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I got to the woods just before sun up. Four does watch me put on my leafy suit about 100 yds away in the open field like I ain't no biggie to em. Shut the door......gobble. Walk toward ole tom and crunch a stick....gobble. Owl hoot.....gobble. Get set up, let the sun come , fly down cackle and hat....gobble. This dang bird gobbled at me calling, coughing, everything....cutting me off like it was prom night in turkey town.....had I farted the bird probably woulda gobbled at that. I bet I followed this one for a mile trying to set up ahead of him, the whole time he was gobbling like crazy....probably gobbled a hundred times. No dice but a whole lot of fun

Hah. Was loading shells and the darn spring got bound...shells rattling around loose in the mag and all. Didn't want a single shot pump for the day, so not leaving well enough alone I had one for a couple weeks. Sucks being ADD......look, a chicken.

Great customer service experience with Mossberg today. Stupid me lost my mag spring and retainer in the woods tinkering with the old 835 in the dark. Shot right past my head into the pre-dawn darkness, so I've been relegated to a single shot pump for the last week or so. Finally got around to calling Mossberg today to order parts, and I wasn't sure what to call the retainer, so I described it. Just to make sure what I was describing was what she was sending, she went and got an 835, and disassembled it whilst we were talking on the phone. She also tried like the dickens to figure a way to give it to me under warranty, but just couldn't since I didn't have my serial #....BUT sent it as complimentary anyway just because she said I shouldn't have had to mess with a sticky spring in the first place. Their customer service call center is in the great state of TX and not in Commienetticut, so that was also nice to hear.

I hunt maybe 2x a year with a buddy. Get swept no telling how many times by his muzzle, and he's very safety conscious. That's why I usually hunt alone. Get more accomplished, and don't get Cheneyed that way. Sucks dragging deer by yourself, but worth it not to get swept (or dead).

24/7/365 here, too. Most often 2 on + 1 within reach. At home no more than two steps away, even while showering. Not that I'm paranoid, it's just that I've had to really develop simple protocols for everything from where my keys go, to where my computer glasses sit on my desk, to where my cellphone is placed, to where my weapons stay, or I become forgetful. It's about creating routine that is unbroken, which makes the repeatability and reliability of life's functions safer and more predictable for me. Guess that kinda sounds a bit Adrian Monk, huh.

Just make sure there ain't no nearsighted, desperate hunters near ya. :stalk:

I know people that strap a fan on top of their shotgun barrel and crawl up on 'em.

I hate 'em too. I had 'em gobbling on roost 3 days in a row, but they keep flying down, shutting up and running to their harem. Saw some running and gunning mid day each day, but they were quiet and henned up and didn't come to my sexy-talk. Yesterday I set up mid day at the bottom of a ridge overlooking a nice plowed field next to a creek. Called and heard a gobble. So I get set up for some action. Few minutes later a tractor comes through plowing and off flies old Tom and a hen. So....decided to just go to my fishing hole (no hunting allowed, just fishing). Get there and hit the call just for giggles to see if I heard a gobble.....quiet....kinda surprised as this place is loaded with turkey....so I go ahead and fish for an hour. Come back up the hill, load up my vehicle and get ready to leave. Get in, start up, and start to pull out and a dang Tom flies up 20 feet to the left. Guess they're being hush-mouthed for a bit.+ I guess I've worked 5 birds, seen a half dozen more and no luck over the weekend. Still beats working.

Had one hot at fly down but darn hen led him off. Quiet now. Waiting for the 9:00 speed dating round. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice! I'm gonna strap a fan on my gun barrel and do some field crawlin' tomorrow morning! Hear much gobbling?

When I carry (which is dang near 24/7) I am 100x more polite to others than I ever imagined I could have been. No more angry stares while driving, no confrontational body language, no outward expression of any level of frustration with other humans that may trigger any level of argument.....nothing. Not going to risk any level of escalation accusation. My first pathway to safety is to create and keep as much distance as possible. In the highly unlikely event that I encountered force-on-force aggression against me, I would look like the biggest sissy on the face of the earth trying to get away. Not because I'm afraid of them, but because I'm afraid of the outcomes associated with having to get involved with any type of conflict when armed. Get in a fight with a gun on ya, and nothing good ever happens to anyone. That said, if I ever did have to lay hands on someone it would be to create distance and escape harm up to, and including, the use of deadly force to protect me and mine. Key things that I've learned from 40+ years of martial arts is that distance is our friend, and that you NEVER lay hands on someone unless they absolutely give you no choice...you just don't know what they know, and they may just stomp a mudhole in your a$$ and walk it dry. And, to boot, I just avoid places most likely to harbor confrontational types that like to tangle. piercedan, on 17 Apr 2014 - 1:43 PM, said: And I agree.....'cept I carry two. Even more reason to avoid conflict at all costs. More guns to inventory in the melee, and some lawyer will surely make a claim that since I double strapped I was 'looking for trouble.'

No doubt. I should be working on my third, but I'll be trying for # 2 myself. Gonna be sittin' waiting for fly down next 3 days myself.
