Maybe nowadays, but not when my dad was a coonhunter. He bred Black and Tans for over 50 years, hunted from Iowa to Louisiana to Maine. High placers and winners in the world, little world, autumn oaks, St. Jude's and the 1972 TN champ. Nothing like a sooner or 'tick bawl, for sure. The cooners I met as a kid traveling with him back in the day were sometimes a little rough around the edges, but not asspimples like the one that this dog is thankfully shed of. Good on Mrs.Monkey! That's a kind lady, right there.

Periodic Physical Fitness Standards for Police & Firefighters

Here is some info that may help: http://www.mtas.tennessee.edu/KnowledgeBase.nsf/59a744563d09d561852574590055cdfc/78cbbcc38eff4e4b85257e960066dc4d/$FILE/Survey%20Results%20-%20Physical%20Agility%20Testing.pdf Mt. Juliet apparently tests all public safety periodically. May be able to call HR there and request policy copies. Also, here are some jurisdictions across the country. http://www.mtas.tennessee.edu/Knowledgebase.nsf/0/AC14C0A8CEB3AC488525773D00664D50/$FILE/09_07_10_FITNESS_TESTING_%20SURVEY_IPMALISTSERV_2010.pdf I know White House also has PD test annually on their obstacle course. May want to request a policy copy there, too. -

Long Island DA bans prosecutors from owning guns.
homeagain replied to 94user's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
TCA 50-1-304(e)(1) No employee shall be discharged or terminated solely for participating or engaging in the use of an agricultural product not regulated by the alcoholic beverage commission that is not otherwise proscribed by law, if the employee participates or engages in the use in a manner that complies with all applicable employer policies regarding the use during times at which the employee is working. This seems to make it a right regarding private, non work-related use of tobacco in TN for an 'employee.' I suppose there may be wiggle room in that statute for pre-employment. I do wonder what the legal situation would be if Chattanooga Memorial hired a non tobacco user that later took up the habit, and then subsequently terminated employment solely based on tobacco use. -

Interesting. I know employers can legally incent employees through health plan premium cost reductions for participation in wellness programs, but I'm pretty sure they can't legally outright ban tobacco use and terminate (solely) for such if used 'off work/premise': TCA 50-1-304(e)(1) No employee shall be discharged or terminated solely for participating or engaging in the use of an agricultural product not regulated by the alcoholic beverage commission that is not otherwise proscribed by law, if the employee participates or engages in the use in a manner that complies with all applicable employer policies regarding the use during times at which the employee is working. -

I In NY? Employers can't reach that far in TN. -
That's awesome news! Having been canned before several years back, I can relate to the stress it dumps on you. Glad you're in a better gig all the way around. Oh, and not all HR people are evil. Been one for 25+ myself. Admittedly there are a lot of idiots in the profession, but some of us are pretty normal.

Typically day-ranging chickens are pretty safe except for the occasional hawk as long as they are paddocked. I keep mine in a moveable paddock by day in 6' fencing, but at night (typical fox, coon, possum, yote, etc. hunting hours) they are cooped in cluckingham palace....caulked, reinforced plywood structure with carabiner latches, double layered hardware cloth vents/sides overlaid with 1x2 trim, and a double layer of hardware cloth bottom buried 6" underground. Maybe more like chickenriverbend?

Colubrids (excepting a couple that don't live in this part of the world) can be quite tame and cuddly once you handle 'em a bit.

Actually it's an at-will state in absence of property rights (which your CBA grants). Right to work simply means that collectively bargained employers can't force union membership as a condition of employment. The question I have is how would they know that you have a HCP and are storing a firearm in your vehicle per the law? I'm not so convinced that an employer has a right to know who does and who does not possess a HCP. It isn't job-related, as would be a valid driver license, for example, if one of your essential functions was to operate a company vehicle.

Permit holder arrested for carrying in school...
homeagain replied to homeagain's topic in General Chat
Update. Apparently his wife hung him out. Don't know what he did to piss her off, but she feigns her own illness and sends him on an errand to pick up the kid at school. She then calls the PD to inform them that he's in the school with a gun (apparently she knew of his penchant for "concealed means concealed"). They arrive while he's in the building, check him, and sure enough he's packing. Wow. Creative revenge on her part, I reckon. -
Yesterday, a permit holder entered Gateview Elementary in Portland to pick up his child carrying his pistol. PD was called, and he was arrested. How stupid are some people?

I agree. Granted, I don't have a lot of disposable income, and $135 (or potentially $166) is something that I have to 'budget' for each year. However, it is something that provides ROI in my annual budget. It puts 4-5 self-butchered deer in the freezer, which at a direct cost (excluding sunk costs like rifle, truck, gas spent, etc. - which would be expended anyway) of about $0.66/lb at 4-5 deer and about $1.22/lb at 2-3 (roughly) is frankly cheaper and more fun than beef. Not to mention the 3-4 turkeys a year, many shellcracker/bream, multiple trout, rabbits, squirrels, etc. Others have likened it to a 'progressive tax,' and I don't exactly agree. It's more of an access or 'user' fee much like trash pickup in municipalities. Some cities have solid waste pickup that is part of their general fund (property tax driven) and some have a monthly flat fee. The flat fee is most fair, because for 96 gallons of trash per week each resident (regardless of income level) pays $17/mo. Same volume trash, same fee. Under the property tax driven, general fund model the guy in the $500K McMansion pays more to have his 96 gallons of refuse picked up than the guy in the $75K mini-ranch....unfair to the guy that has done well for himself. And there are income-based relief programs out there. With that said, I would be willing to pay $200/year for a sportsman license with the provision that free doe-only (say limit of 4/year) and small game/fishing licenses be provided to low income families with a limit of 3 free accesses in 5 years (or some other rational limit) based on household income levels. They could even check 'em in on their Obamaphone. 'Course the administration costs for the program would have fiscal note attached.
