  1. Most of the 'tourist' spots are, I think.  Was there a couple months back and some weren't.  Tootsies was posted and had a security guy frisking at the door.
  2. Thomas Sowell is awesome.  Read his book: Basic Economics: A Common Sense Guide to the Economy.  He's a rare combination of intellect and common sense.
  3. Welcome back to the South!  I spent a couple years in CT so I can relate.  I fit there like a Clampett on Rodeo drive.
  4. Nice birds!  I got skunked but that's why it's turkey huntin', not turkey killin'.  Better than working.
  5.   Grant them amnesty!  I'll harbor all for free and provide a path to range equality!
  6. Center mass.  Likely reaction would be low center mass (hopefully) and work up to high center mass as that's how I train.  First five rounds are loaded with Glasers followed by Golden Sabre (.45), extra mag Golden Sabre.  Would create distance and continue til threat stops (that's the 'plan' anyway).  Then speed dial my attorney.
  7. I think he may be forced to come down here to get enough 'shots.'  I hear NY has limited photographers to 35mm SLRs instead of the digital 'assault' SLRs, and also limited their film capacity to 7 exposures.
  8.   No doubt 2014 is gonna be a shocker.  Think about this:  with the 2014 mandate of pay-or-play for employees with 30+ hours average, more employers are going to hire 'part-time' staff instead of full-time workers.  Gonna pad the employment numbers as far as bodies at work for the Obama administration so he'll claim a 'victory' for the poor, huddled masses; but the reality is that more people will be underemployed and be hand-to-mouth.  I think it's a shrewd left move to make more and more people dependent on the government dole, crush the middle class and further create a nanny state.
  9. Walmart Franklin KY has the same 3 box limit.  Nice bunch there, though.  Checked walmart.com last night and it showed 555 Winchester white box in stock, so I called.  The gentleman who answered said they got a case in on the truck and would be out at 7:00am today, but to be early.  Got there at 6:15 (first in line) and shortly afterward several regulars showed up and joined the wait.  Sure enough, at 7:00 they walked up to the counter with a case.  There were only 10 per case, so I took (2) instead of (3) so at least the 4th guy could get a box.  The case was full, so no 'employee privelege' stockpiling apparently.
  10.   Wow.  Now THAT warrants a  .  I'm in total agreement OS!  92FS ain't my cup 'o tea, but darn fine implements they are.
  11. For me it simply came down to defensive application and combat load weight so I voted AR.  I like 'em both pretty equally for their strengths, so I see your dilemma.  In an absolute worst case, SHTF scenario, I'd have confidence that if I had an AR and someone else had a bolt, the odds would be pretty good that I'd have an AR and a bolt (depending upon the tactical advantages/disadvantages of the parties' positions, of course).  For game gathering the 5.56/.223 seems to have a bit broader bell curve for application. also.  Add in a .22 conversion that curve just gets bigger; and I doubt the hunting would necessarily occur within the 'typical' TWRA rules set (night hunting, opportunism, etc.).....headshot freezer-meat deer go down pretty reliably from either .22 or 5.56/.223.  I just feel like the weapon would make you a better 'weapon collector' in a SHTF scenario.

  13. Will be visiting with Diane Black (speaking at the Chamber luncheon) on 3/25.  Good opportunity for facetime. Also got to know her Field Rep Mike Correia recently.  They're pretty good about listening, and Diane seems to be on our side.
  14. “It’s about getting people to think, really, about how much <<insert liberal agenda here>> they need,” Gibson said. The bottom line is, these ID10T's feel like they can 'manage' our thought processes for us, make decisions for us, and restrict our ability to do so on our own by legislating 'their' thought modeling into our lives.  You could insert anything in that bracket: money, food, water, house, land, oxygen, etc.  They really do think they are smarter!  They think they're the parents, and we're the kids!  Absolutely intolerable!
  15.   It's a combination empty chamber indicator/liberal camoflage device for Glocks.  If placed in the chamber it will ingeniously shapeshift the Glock to a Sig, giving liberals the false sense of security that it can actually be picked up on a metal detector, and that it isn't in reality an evil ceramic gun that shoots invisiboolits.

    Papoose

Got my dad's old Marlin Papoose the other day.  Pretty worse for the wear....was his throwaway 'coon hunting gun for 'dog training season', so it got lobbed more than an Army practice grenade.  The rear of the plastic trigger guard is broken off but it still attaches via the screw (just can't tighten too much or it won't cycle).    Got a new Marlin mag and new ejector/mag release and took it out for a test drive.  Cycles, but seems to have extraction problems maybe: won't eject spent shell and the next round in mag gets partially inserted into the chamber and bent downward.  Spent shell ends up stacked on top of the next round in, so jams like crazy every shot.  Any ideas on what to do?  Replace extractor? Extractor spring worn out?  Loose trigger guard the problem?  Use as a club?  I don't know much about the Marlin 60/70 actions and how to jam-proof them.
  17. Would be nice to get a TGO shoot together just for the kids sometime somewhere.  Don't know if any ranges around here would tolerate the cat-herding required for that (definitely some serious rangemastering would have to happen).  But would be fun to have a bunch of kids all together enjoying the shooting sports.
  18.   Thanks.  Can't wait to finhear that she 'talked about it' at school and gets suspended.  Hopefully our schools here haven't lost their minds to that degree yet.
  19.   Now that's photo-worthy!
  20.   Good on you!  Gotta keep up the family tradition!
  21.  Wish I'd have gotten the 22/45.  Either that or the SR22 is next.
  22.  Great little rifle.  My daughter started on the pink one when she was 6.
  23. No doubt.  The kid loves to shoot!  In addition, she also started with the Rossi .410/22 and worked up to the H&R 20Ga and 1100LT today.  Getting ready for youth turkey hunt.  Cool thing is she wants to shoot the G19 next weekend.  She just may be hooked!  Will say the 20 single made her take a step back, but she was still grinning from ear to ear!
  24. Here's my 9YO daughter working on grip and trigger squeeze today.  Pretty soon gonna dial in her breathing and sight picture, but she's picking up very quickly!   Photo redacted.....don't want to leave it up endlessly.
  25.   Hah!  Just before Y2K I heard a guy say "if I've got a .45, and you've got a ham sandwich, I've got a .45 AND a ham sandwich."
