It's either in my holster, or literally within arm's length 24/7..unless on the rare occasion I must go inside a location where prohibited. Then it is locked down.

Do people ask YOU for information to get a HCP?
homeagain replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Those that need to know I'm carrying know, those that don't do not. I conceal well, so I'm not approached. I typically don't approach complete strangers and ask "would you like to know how to get a handgun carry permit?"...for various reasons. I've never been asked when carrying....I guess I'm not tacticool enough for assumptions. I may get asked by complete strangers in the grocery/whatever store: "do you have [insert product here] in stock?" so I guess I usually look more like a grocery clerk or store management than someone who is 'obviously' packing....mission accomplished. -
NY state has started to take firearms.

This is going to sound a bit odd, maybe. But here goes. The population rate in the U.S. among those of us that are productive members of society has drastically fallen since WWII. The population rate of those that are NOT productive members of society, or those that do not espouse our ideals has increased somewhat in that same time. Our overall fertility rate is lower than the standard sustaining replacement rate. What this kind of tells me is that since we are experiencing an overall population growth, that growth comes from segments of our overall society that are not strongly linked to our constitutional viewpoint. Immigration rates far surpass those of reproduction, and the major reproductive contributors within our nation seem to be the ones being subsidized by the government. Those of us work for a living seem to have 'learned' to reproduce fewer offspring because of the lower 'need' for offspring and the higher 'cost' of offspring. All of this has shifted as we have become less agrarian and more urban/industrial. It's only going to get worse as we further shift from a production economy to a service economy. Since WWII the 'New Deal' and subsequent 'social leveling' initiatives have really served to create a 'class' within society that insures perpetuity of socialistic ideals. It is simply a game of numbers and attrition that is fueled by larger government (greed, hubris), and a larger segment of society that are basically subsidized sheep. It seems to me that we are on the natural course to our nadir that great societies of the past have experienced. We may be able to delay the inevitable, but we may already be past the point of no return. I think we may be seeing the beginning of the end where we really are overtaken from within. I don't see how we have the leverage or the position to reverse and restore. We don't have the numbers advantage anymore, nor the access to the power and resources required for peaceful change. -
I usually carry a either G19 or Para LDA CCO both in Bladetech kydex OWB. When I pocket carry, I carry the G19 in a pocket holster that has good trigger coverage. Don't want to 'Glockass'...or, actually 'Glockberries' myself, so that mode does warrant care. I'm interested in getting either the King Tuc or another tuckable for the Glock, though.

I discovered Pepe's when we lived up there. Insane how good they are....simple old brick oven tomato pie. Down here if you say tomato pie, people will look at you funny and say 'mater pie? what the heyull's a 'mater pie? I thought that wuz a peetzuh.' Reins is the best NY Kosher Deli not in NYC. Nardelli's grinders are awesome! I'll have to disagree on the wings...wife's from Buffalo and she'd kill me if I didn't defend the honor of the Anchor Bar, where Buffalo Wings originated. Camino Real is really good mex, but you won't have trouble finding good mex here. Now if you want good old fashioned BBQ, check out Baldwin's in Springfield, TN when you get here. Been around since about 1927 and still family owned 4th generation 'Cue slingers. Crazy good stuff.

I third, fourth and fifth the Pepe's. That pizza ain't no joke! No lie, best pizza I've ever had...even the wife (from Niagara Falls, NY) says so. While you're at it, see if you can head up to Vernon to Rein's Deli and bring a fresser Reuben (or thirty). Don't forget some lobster rolls, either. Only thing good about CT was the feedbags they'd let ya strap on.

That looks awesome. Here's my recipe, too: Brine the breasts in half gallon water with half cup sea salt over nite. Filet into 1' strips Marinade strips in freezer bags for 6-8 hours: (Marinade) -1/4 c. Olive Oil -1/4 c. white wine -1/8 c. lemon juice -1/2 c. apple juice -4 cloves garlic (pressed) -1 tsp. ground black pepper -1/2 tsp. onion powder -2 tbsp. soy or teriyake sauce Heat a seasoned cast-iron skillet to sear meat When seared on both sides and well-caramelized, turn heat down, add some saved marinade to deglaze, ad some salt and black pepper, cover and simmer until tender and barely done in middle (about 15-20 mins or so)

Well, I was skunked last weekend hunting a new farm locally. Hadn't seen much sign there, so I decided to go back to my honey hole. Now, I haven't hunted in TN in four years because I moved up north so it was no real surprise (disappointment, yes) when I saw a couple of trucks parked on the farm when I got there. It's an hour drive, but worth it so I began the hike the half mile into where my spot is. About 1/3 the way through the woods (got there a bit later than planned) I spotted the top of 3 strutters' fans, so I set up on 'em. They were already henned up and headed away from me. I circled wide on 'em heading to my 'spot' only to find a popup blind about 50 yards from where I wanted to set up. Had to hunt back in the woods further than I like. Next couple hours spent hearing other hunters shoot. In total heard 8 shots....some pretty close by. Lot's of gobbling, just couldn't get 'em to come my way. Everybody seemed have the 'gobble, gobble bang' luck except me. I set up about 200 yards from the guys in the popup and stayed quiet and let them call, hoping I may have a stray walk by on the way to check 'em out. More gobbling, but no bangs. About 10:00 I backtracked to see if the trucks were still there, and luckily I fainally had the woods to myself. I made a beeline to my 'spot' to check it out. Pretty grown up. The old groundblind I had 4 years ago was pretty much wasted, so I figured I'd tear it out and start to reconstruct it for a midweek hunt. Made a ton of noise, so I figured any Tom that was nearby was gone. Looked in my pack and couldn't find my favorite all-weather striker. Must've lost it, so I figured I'd practice a bit with this old graphite striker that I can't use worth a flip....always sound like crackhead mallard for some reason. Yup, sounded like crap....but first cutt I was cut off by a fairly close gobble. Soooo....I plop my but down in my 'spot', put my gloves and mask on and start making more ridiculously heinous noise with the slate. He keeps cutting me off gobbling hard! Before long I see a big ole white softball head Tom coming my way about 100+ yards out. Coming kinda slow at first, then he made his mind up that he had himself a nooner in the making and beelined it to me in a darn near run. Waited til he went behind a cedar and set the sight on the opening, and boom at about 35 yards. Didn't know it until I shot, but there were 2....the second one took flight. They must've been racing each other. I run down and flop on him so he doesn't mess his fan up from flopping around. After he 'seems' dead, I pick him up by the feet. Only thing is this sucker's far from dead! Evidently this bird's turned into a 'walker.' Couldn't get his neck wrung, so I had to club him with a rock...got blood all over my hands, my gun, my gear....kinda squirted out the side like a zit! Anywho.....here's the bird. 22 pounds, 8 inch beard, 1 inch spurs.

Was in Frankllin KY Wallyworld this morning by 5:15 for a 7:00 sale of .22 555 bulk. Got there and there was already a line of 6. Needless to say, when the 7 boxes came out, I didn't get any. Geez. One guy had been there since 4:00am!

Actually, if passed by Ordinance it would be municipal 'law.' Whether they choose to enforce that law is discretionary [granted not the wisest apprach]. If passed by Resolution it would have been merely a 'statement' of their sympathy with the cause.
