homeagain replied to a topic in New Member Introductions
Hi Jessirae. Welcome to TGO and the South. LIved not too far from Rochester for a while....pretty area, but not gun friendly enough for my liking. I'm sure you'll like it here (forum ) as people are friendly, helpful, and very knowledgable. -

Obama rated 5th best president ever
homeagain replied to Volzfan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think we would have to count David Rice Atchison's alleged 'President for a Day' term of March 4th, 1849 as better. That, in my mind, moves him to 45th. -
Awesome!!! Pics next of some joystick-controlled miniguns?

Hot chicken is awesome! Anybody remember Mr. Boo's (Bouglea's) on Donelson Pike near the airport? Hate that is closed.

H&R Huntsman .45 cal Muzzleloader
homeagain replied to ncldwell's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I hunt with a T/C Hawken in .45 that I've had for about 30 years. I usually shoot 90g (volume, not weight) of Pyrodex P (rough equiv of FFFg black powder). I also usualy shoot T/C Maxi Hunter or BreakAway Sabots when hunting. http://www.muzzleloader.com/shooting/shooting6.htm For target/plinking I use pillow ticking and a .440 ball over 50g P. Not much is more fun than smokepole shooting. Maybe smokepole hunting. -
I'm with ya on the brake check. Not prudent. I agree on left lane for passing. If I'm in a 2-lane and being tailgated, I reduce to a bit slower speed to let them around at the first chance they get. It is a speed 'limit,' not a speed 'requirement.'

I've got some that I keep shiny clean and fingerprint free......and then I have Glocks. My 1911's are my 'Sunday best' and my Glocks are my Carhartts. And then there's the Para LDA that's somewhere in between. It's the oddball that looks pretty good, gets carried alot, has some wear, but I just can't bring myself to throw it around like a Glock. I guess it's kinda my golfshirt and khakis.

Nope.....CC there, too. Hard to get hired in my profession with tatts showing. Shouldn't be, but sadly a fact of life. If it weren't for the job situation, I'd have sleeves.

Explosions at Boston Marathon finish line
homeagain replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Sad day indeed. One comment that made it into the media coverage is this: ''They can give me a cavity search right now and I'd be perfectly happy,'' said Daniel Wood, a video producer from New York City who was waiting for a train. It's amazing how people are so willing to give up freedom for security. If a cellphone was used to detonate, maybe they'll ban cellphones. After all they don't cause the explosion, they simply facilitate efficiency as a tool. My bet is they leverage this into background checks for reloading supplies. -
And I won't sterotype you either....my tatts are hidden, at least you have the balls to show yours to the world....lol.

I did think about taking donuts and coffee next time....or just sleeping in the aisle :snore:

Hah! All I know is I experienced a bit of shrinkage when I looked up from leaning into my cart to see his muzzle staring right back at me.

G19 for utility, 1911 for looking pretty.

Good belt, good holster, responsible carry mode.....classy. Tatts, jeans/boots.....nothing wrong with that. I don't care if you've got David Allen Coe beard dreads, if you carry like a responsible person it's still understated stylishness. By the same token, if someone looks like Ward Cleaver but hangs a weapon (Hi Point or not) in a big, floppy rig with a muzzle sticking out that sweeps everybody in the checkout line when reaching for a candy bar.....not classy. So, I do agree very much....don't ever judge a book by its cover, just by actions and deeds.

I wouldn't say 'desperate'.....I'm just frugal. I'll occasionally give up a couple hours of sleep before work starts to get .22's at $0.04 per if I think I have a shot. Didn't cost me to be there, wouldn't have profited me to sleep in, so I think the benefit/cost analysis shakes out on the side of taking the 'risk.' However, paying the inflated prices would cause me to have to offset the cost with more income (not always possible), or to give up something else (i'm stubborn). Time is free (unless it's time taken away from profitable endeavors), money isn't. Yup....I'm sure he was. I absolutely refuse to buy from gougers.

Understated stylishness. I may not have even noticed him either. Even though we as 'carriers' are more aware and likely to notice others carrying (I typically can see someone 'printing' in a Wal Mart about every trip) I'd be willing to bet even OC when done in a classy manner goes under the radar more often than not.

Man! I didn't think of that. I was too busy trying to stay away from his muzzle pointing back at me sticking out of his shoulder rig.

At the moment I'm lucky. My employer provides an I Phone and I actually have a second I Phone paid for by my former employer (I do some occasional consulting work for them so when I left they let me keep the phone and they pay for my plan so they can reach me). However, we pay for my wife's phone. We use Boost Mobile (Sprint network) with one of their lower level Android phones. With the 'shrinkage' we're paying $35/month unlimited everything and she's happy with it. Has the typical 'smartphone' stuff like GPS, various apps, etc. for low cost. We rooted the phone so we use it as a hotspot, also. Not bad for $35.

Great stuff. The 9 year old daughter and I went on youth weekend for a couple of hours to see if she would enjoy it.....she did. That first morning we sat in a popup blind and didn't see anything, but she still had fun. This past weekend, we went to a 100+ acre woods where I usually kill. We didn't kill, but had a blast. She used the box call and push button to 'talk' to a bunch of hens moving through, and even got a jake to half-gobble at her from a distance. We couldn't get anything to come in, but she had a blast 'talking' back and forth a bit. This time we were running and gunning, and she liked that much better (she's ADHD like dear ole dad). She got to see hawks and lots of squirrels, hear some crows and even found a den hole to explore around. Spent the afternoon pointing out what 'turkey poop' looks like and other turkey sign, identifying different 'woods noises,' picking flowers, eating a packed supper and having a blast. She was so into it she didn't want to leave the woods.

I'm with you there. I don't OC, but don't mind when others do. It does amaze me sometimes how they 'present' themselves. Most of the time when I see someone doing so, they are dressed up all tacticool or looking kinda like a nutjob. Most often OCers that I see are wearing their black BDU pants and some sort of logo T. I was behind a guy in the grocery line once who was OCing his Hi Point in a nylon shoulder rig with a few extra mags and a couple of 'Handgun Permit' badges dangling from it. Whatever happened to understated stylishness?

Welcome. Dunkirk, huh. I lived in Youngstown for a while. You'll be glad to get down here!
