  1. I was thinking more about firearms that my girlfriend could use without getting terribly intimidated.   In particular, shotgun type firearms.   At first, I was thinking I'd get a 20 gauge.... but what about a 12 gauge with lighter loads?   Don't want a huge menagerie of firearms all over the place... I like to keep it simple.   If I could just go with one gauge, that would be best.   *complete newb with regard to shotguns and shotgun shells*   Got my eye on a mossberg 590a1
  2. Acceptable: shotguns ....especially with wood furniture... And other hunting looking rifles
  3. Interesting I am thinking of selling my"controversial" firearms and acquiring good self defense type firearms that are likely to be more freely accepted.
  4. I would be amazed if we avoid serious bans/controls that are far stiffer than the Clinton ban.   So, if I resign myself to that distinct possibility, here is the question.   Is it likely that owning an AR or an AK is going to be a massive hassle?..... or downright profitable?   If we are unable to sell the things person to person.... if if they make it a major pain to own one (making you pay special fees, check in every year with an inspector, accountable for it's whereabout at all times according to their regulations, etc. etc...... it may not be worth it to keep them and it might be difficult to sell them with or without a profit.   What do you think?   Is your potentially "banned" rifle or magazine going to be a treasure?..... or a burden?
  5. Honestly, I've never noticed what is included on the FFL records.   Does it actually ask for the specific type of weapon?
  6. Unfortunately, if someone tried to "shoot any man who take their guns away".... that would be all our government needs to invoke even more draconian anti-gun, anti-self defense controls.   Just one or two of those shootings, and the public would support such additional regulations, too!   I fear that our nation is populated by a totally new demographic.... dependent upon government and happy with that.
  7. Interesting, but if they are "filed away", they are still accessible.   I'm asking because I am wondering how they might enforce gun controls on specific types of weapons.   On the one hand, if they do not know what you have.... not knowing if you've got a revolver or a cache of AK-47's... it seems that they'd need people to voluntarily register their naughty firearms along with some sort of legal threat if a person fails to do so.
  8. I was wondering if the local or national government keeps track of what we buy.   Now, I know we do the paperwork when we buy a firearm, but I was told that all record of the affair is purged within 24 hours.   So, according to that, does the government have no idea about who owns what?   Thanks Ohbehave
