  1. REI is like an over priced Bass Pro and Cabella's for Hipsters and Millennials. Chattanooga is getting one thanks to this I know not to waste my time.
  2. It's been a while since I've been to a gun show in Knoxville but they usually have a really big selection of everything. Knoxville is unlike the complete joke that are called Gun Shows in Chattanooga.
  3. Why are people OK with the minimum age of buying a hand gun being 21 but get upset if a long rifle minimum age is raised to match? It seems that the people that are against changing the long gun age to 21 should be fighting to have the hand gun age lowered to 18. I might take this guy a little more seriously if he was looking to raise the minimum age to 21 for ALL guns not just one that's black and scary. If you just raise the age for an AR-15 then this is what will happen. Deranged 18 Year Old: I want to buy that AR-15 Gun Store Clerk: Sorry you have to be 21 to buy that gun. Deranged 18 Year Old: Ok, what about that Mini-14? Gun Store Clerk: Sure, will that be cash or charge?
  4. I'm surprised that bump stocks have flown this long under the radar. While they technically do not make a gun full auto it's close enough that I've always thought someone would eventually do something that brought attention to them. Well that finally happened in Las Vegas. It's kind of like the guys at the gun show that sell the "adaptor" to capture all of that cleaning solvent in an oil filter. They look cool but I just know that eventually someone is going to do something stupid with one and put it on the radar.
  5. "properly installed safe" I don't understand why people resist this little bit. Why wouldn't you want a properly installed gun safe and keep your guns (except for your carry and self defense guns) in them? Then for the guns you keep out of that safe why wouldn't you want some kind of secure storage for them? I kind of like the idea of keeping my guns from being stolen so this little part of that is something I have no issues with because I'm already doing that.
  6. I bet it's someone's carry bag that was stolen out of their car and when the thief saw what was in it they found a place to dump the entire bag. I have a bag that's almost like that that's filled with all kinds of goodies that I keep in my truck. I do keep a couple of magazines in it but never the gun that goes with it. The idea was to have a bag in the truck mostly for the winter incase I got stuck for hours in the snow when I had to commute from Chattanooga to Nashville or Chattanooga to Atlanta. 4
  7. So there is this on Form 4473... "Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance? Warning: The use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful under Federal law regardless of whether it has been legalized or decriminalized for medicinal or recreational purposes in the state where you reside." If you have a medical marijuana it's pretty much a given you use that card to buy and use marijuana. Therefore you would have been disqualified form buying that firearm if you answered the question truthfully. If you lied and said no on that question you broke the law because you lied on form 4473. All that being said this is something that the BATF would enforce and prosecute and not the Honolulu PD.
  8. I'm still not hurting for 22LR but I would like to resume my buying habits I had years ago. Around here it's plentiful and if you are willing to pay a high price you can have all you want.
  9. So DJT has been in office for roughly nine months. In that time .22LR has made it's way back on to the shelves just about everywhere. I've been places and seen cases and cases of .22LR on display for sale. Clearly the shortage is no longer there. That being said the price of a brick of cheep plinking .22LR is still above $25-30 in most places. I know that seeing $15 bricks is a thing of the past but what's keeping the price so high? Is it the manufactures, the wholesalers, or retailers?
  10. It's a skilled job that probably takes an hour or two from start to finish. If it was a job done right I wouldn't hesitate to pay it.
  11. That's a good placement because it's pretty much impossible to get any kind of leverage on that door. Make sure you bolt it to the foundation so it can't be flipped out on it's back and someone can go do work on it.
  12. If you are following the rules of gun safety this is a non issue.
  13. It might motivate those people to vote the ones responsible out of office.
  14. "It seems we are in the unfortunate predicament in that Tennessee honors a Puerto Rico permit but Puerto Rico does not honor any other state or territory's permit." I wish the State of Tennessee would extend the middle finger to those states that refuse to honor our permit and stop accepting their permits.
  15. I've cussed William Ruger and wished very bad things alone him and the next 100 generations of his descendants many times over this God awful design.
  16. I suspect they were waiting to see how The Supreme Court appointment went before they sued. They know that the liberal judges in that district will rule against them so they will end up pushing it all the way. No point in wasting your time without a friendly court.
  17. "I disagree. Rape of a child should result in a death sentence. " Just give it some time. I'm sure someone will do the tax payers of Louisiana a favor and save them some money
  18. If you can't find 7828 I know where is. I saw this at Field & Stream in Hoover Alabama last weekend. I think there is an Oops in there somewhere. Maybe they thought they were ordering by the pound and not by the case? That was about half of what they had out. There was another shelf on the next isle that was pretty full.
  19. And that's why they rip people off. They know that they can gouge people when times are bad because most are willing to look the other way later down the road. Their behavior will never change.
  20. Sportsman's Warehouse has probably the largest selection of stuff in town and reasonably priced. North Georgia Reloaders is a good place for brass and a limited supply or powder and they are a Dillon Dealer but their stock on Dillon stuff sucks. Bass Pro Shop, Cabella's, and Gander Mountain have some stuff with Cabella's having the most of those three. Frost Cuttlery has a sign out front saying they have reloading supplies. Don't waste your time back tracking from the Ooltewah exit. What little stuff they have is way way over priced. Closer to you Benton's Shooter's supplies had a decent amount of reloading stuff the last time I was there a year or so ago. They were priced high then and probably high now but it might be worth the trip to investigate it. There is a site reloadingunlimited.com. I've bought a lot from them at gun shows and they are in Calhoun so you may be able to arrange to pick items up from them locally and save on hazmat. I asked a guy working their booth once if you could do this but he wasn't sure because he was watching the the booth while the normal guy was away from the booth.
  21. At least there isn't the worry that they will be destroyed. I don't doubt they will be released but it's probably going to take a bit while the more important issues are addressed.
  22. I'm sure it's coming but it there are plenty of other things that are more important that are ahead of releasing the 1911s.
  23. I used it a lot with 9mm .38 and 45 acp when I was still loading on a single stage press and a RCBS Chargemaster scale. When I got my Dillon 650 I had a really hard time getting it to throw the exact same charge consistently. If I were throwing w321 at 4.0 I would get 4.1 4.0 3.9 3.8 4.1 4.2 and that just drove me nuts. I switched over to #2 for 9mm and 45 and if I throw 4.0 I get 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0.
  24. I got back from a trip on the 23rd. I was surprised at how little signage there was letting you know you can't carry past security. I can see how people might not know you can't carry there. Then again more people may be turned away than we hear about. We may only hear about the ones that are not carrying legally.
