I came here to post a similar question and instead of starting another thread I'm going to piggy back on your question which is pretty similar. Let's say I have a Berger Bullet that's 60gr and I am using 23.5grn of benchmark behind it that I know is a tack driving load that was worked up from a reloading manual. Since things are hard to find let's say I can't find the 60gr Berger but I can find a 60gr Hornady. My load data for the Berger comes from a reloading manual that lists the Berger but it does not list the Hornady. For the sake of safety to me and my gun (not accuracy) is it OK to start with the same load (my example is between the starting and max load) as the Berger since the Berger and the Hornady have the same weight? For the sake of my example the above bullet weight and charge weights are completely made up off the top of my head and they do not represent an actual load which is why I didn't mention the caliber.

So Michele O presented the Oscar for best Picture?

If she flew out there on our dime this would be a big deal. She did not so this is not even worth a mention. -
Monday seems to be the day to go to Sportsmans. They sell out of 22 by 10-11am but they have most all 9 to 45 at least until Tuesday morning. I picked up a UMC 250 round 9mm pack for $60 something around 11am. At that time they still had several left.

I don't get to shoot nearly as much as I would like to shoot because of work and other activities. When you add that and the amount of ammo I have I can sustain my current shooting patterns under the current conditions for several years. The only thing I've changed recently is what I am shooting. I tend to change the trend in what I shoot at the range often. Just before all of this crap started shooting I was just getting into shooting bolt guns which means I shoot considerably less ammo anyways. It also means I am currently shooting stuff that's not that hard to come by such as 7mm Mag and .243. On my weekly trips to Sportsman's Warehouse I am still passing on 9, 38, 357, 40 and 45 because I really don't need it and I am doing my part to cut back on the panic buying. I will resume my normal pace of buying when ammo sits on shelves and not at the customer service counter.

The range I am a member to has a maximum of 650 members at a time. The only way in is for someone to not renew their membership plus you have to have 3 sponsors.

And some people wonder how gun control laws get passed.... -
When standing your ground, how far should you go?

"As his assailant fled, the victim followed" I was told once the threat is no longer a threat you go from justified actions to unjustified actions. This guy should be in some hot water. -
"She shot herself and the dog," Heh That's a country song all by it's self.

DHS explains ammo purchase reasons. Are they kidding?
battleop replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There is no conspiracy here nor is it some super secret Obama black ops mission to shoot every citizen 5 times. It's a contract of supply 5 years worth of ammo to the US government. There are at least 50-70k gun carrying Federal Agents. From some postal inspectors to ICE to Indian tribal affairs. When work out the math and consider a lot of agents must qualify 4 times a year it's really not that many rounds per agent. -
At some point people can only stock pile so much. I've been spending about $100/mo on ammo for years so I've built up enough that I can shoot like normal for at least 2 years before I am worried about my supply.

Sportsman's Warehouse got 20-30 Colts on Monday according to the guy behind the counter. He said they don't have any idea of what they will get until it arrives in the Store but they are getting stuff again. When I was there at 5:30 they were down to the last 2. That tells me that things are getting better when the ARs last more than an hour. :)

POTUS pushes for a vote on Gun Control
battleop replied to Peace's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It's possibly a move the Democrats are willing to take. It would be a short term loss but a long term win. They would loose big in 2014 but over time the could get their power right back with the end result of being more gun control. If Barry gets this through and they loose in 2014 how likely is it that the Republican party would repeal the law? In 1996 a lot of Democrats lost their seats over the AWB but the law was not repealed. Now look where we are 17 years later. -
Damn it.... Did he really have to use a full auto gun to demonstrate this? Guess who's going to pick up on this and perpetuate the idea that all AR type rifles are full auto? A large amount of the US population does not know the first thing about an AR but when they see this stuff they think that they are all full auto guns.

I've seen you post several times you are getting large numbers of consumables. How are you managing to get this stuff and no one else is? It seems like some people are getting stuff on a regular basis while others are not seeing anything.

Mom & Pop Local Gun Stores, Are They @ Financial Risk?
battleop replied to runco's topic in General Chat
There was a ding dong with a table at the Shriners gunshow in Chattanooga this weekend with $1000 on a S&W MP-15. He also was telling people he had a great deal on a "PRE-Ban" GSG MP5 22 LR. I didn't know they were made before 94'. When I left the show late in the day on Sunday he still had them. -
The proper thing to do at my club is to clean up your brass. If you don't reload leave reloadable stuff on the table and sweep your rimfire off the concrete pad. It's ok to leave yor targets on the plinking range but not ok on any of the other ranges.
