  1. I will plus one this +1.... I have shot a Kidd Trigger and it is in my opinion BETTER than even Volquartsen if you can believe it. Is it worth it? It is if you have the extra money to spend and can really make use of the better trigger.
  2. I pretty sure they made the pistol. But whether or not they did the nickel plating is another thing. I think TALO had some Ruger LC-9 at one time. I'm not sure if they buy the guns that way or they do the "special editon" to them themselves. If Ruger did the nickel, then I hope they would make it right. But it some other company did the nickel they be the ones to contact. At the very least Ruger should know if they pistol was shipped with a Nickel finish or not.
  3. 17HM2 case length is .714" Standard .22lr is .613 (+- .008) Apparently the HM2 is based off the stinger case which is .10" longer than a standard 22LR case. Sounds like a interesting idea at the least.
  4. I've owned 2 different P-11's both bought used. They both were fine for the ~50 or so I put through them. I just wish they had a better finish. The finish wears so quick on them.....
  5. Looks nice.
  6. 5/64" for the gas tube. and it's not common in a standard punch kit. So the next best thing is a 1/16" drill bit. And be careful as drill bits can and will break. And when they do they are sharp and hurt like crazy when you stick one in your hand. I'd personally cut the drill flutes "spirals" off the bit and proceed carefully...... The 2 larger pins on the bottom of the FSB are normally tapered and can only be driven out one way. look at yours and see what way you need to drive it out. I pretty sure they are 1/8"...but can not remember. You will be driving the pin from the smaller side. So the big side comes out first. On most the left side is smaller...but not all are that way, so be sure to look. Some are straight pins and can be removed from either direction. Just look at yours to see. Go here for details on removal of the gas block / FSB.... About 1/3 the way down the page. http://www.ar15.com/..._4/226782_.html good luck man.
  7. I remember loosing $5 the first week I worked at a lumber yard to that trick with picking up a penny. I quickly got that money back as soon as we got a "new" guy. I think you have to get taken on that trick before you can become a fork truck operator. The fun stuff is "endo" running - aka: 2 wheeling it......
  8. All the Yugo SKS's I've owned shot just fine. The barrel may or may not be chrome lined. My biggest problem with them is the grenade launcher sight on them. I just don't like it. I'd prefer a Russian SKS over the rest myself. As for value I have not kept up on the SKS in a good while. I bought my first one for $100 and I would say they are worth a bit more now.

    dry fire

Honestly, the best way to "look" for a problem would be to shoot it. If it doesn't fire look at rim of the case and see if the firing pin has hit it? If there is NO indention on the rim then the firing pin could be broken, peened, or blocked by some debris in the firing pin channel. If there IS an indention but it is light or shallow, then it is ether a peened firing pin or a weak striker spring. My guess is that most likely nothing will be wrong and it will fire. Go and shoot it and let your worries be gone.
  10. I've had 3 ticks attached to me this year alone. And had 4 others I've found crawling on me. I've since sprayed my shoes with deet spray and it seems to have worked for about 3 weeks. Just today I found another on crawling on me. I mow and trim about 6 acres and it is right next to woods and a creek. The property next to it is open field with brush. I hate this time of year....the little boogers are relentless at making me their meal. This year has been worse than any other I can think of.....so I guess I'll just soak my shoes in deet every week and hope for the best. P.S.....all the tick on me were the seed ticks and 1 was the lone star tick. Both of which carries lymes disease. My Grandfather had/has Lymes disease and he said it was BAD.....made him very sick and messed up his eye sight to some degree or another. All I know is he said, "you don't want any of that"
  11. Very nice shooting. I haven't had mine out in over 2 years. I really need to take it out and at least make sure the scope is still dialed in.
  12. Such a nice view.....................the mountains that is.......
  13. Yes, It will have enough energy to take deer at 300 yards. Pros are that it shoots flat and recoil is minimal. Cons are it's a light(er) bullet and carries less energy down range. So if you plan to shoot Moose/Elk etc. your 300 yard gun is now 150 yard gun and shot placement is even more critical. The 7mm-08 is in between the 243-308 and would be good round to look at if you haven't yet. I agree the Winchester 70 or a Remington 700 BDL would be a fine choice.
  14. So, how many will it pass through at 100( or 200) yards vs 10 yards? Some one needs to try this......
  15. Come on and shoot it already. I tired of checking this post every day to see what happens. I have access to a Ruger M77/MKII in 7.62x39 (grandfathers) and I'd like to see just how capable this "military" round can be..... I've debated on buying it from him a few times as all my other bolt guns are have to much recoil and cost too much to shoot.
  16. If they offer the American in Stainless, I will get one. I'd like to see that type trigger system in the M77's.....
  17. I've shot both and the Savage was the better gun out of the box. The trigger was MUCH better on the savage. Where as the 10/22 is known for its horrid trigger. Even the newer 10/22's are still awful compared to the Accutrigger. With a little work the Ruger can be made to shoot every bit as good or better than the savage. It's all in the money you are willing to spend. At the very least it needs some trigger work. Then move on to a barrel. The Savage is a Bolt Action and it may become boring to some (women) Where all you do on the Ruger is keep pulling the trigger. As for the wz78, I've never even heard of it. So I can not help there.
  18. I have the Gun Digest Book of Glock - 2nd Edition It is a pretty good book and gives you the history of how and why the glock was made. But it doesn't mention any lap dances in Atlanta. I'd remember that........trust me. If it's true, I'd like to party with old Gaston for a day.....or night
  19. Well, I'm not sure on the Benefactor thing. I see this on my main page: Current Subscription Current Package: Premium Membership - 6 Months Purchased With: Manual Paid Until: Today, 06:59 AM You have paid until Today, 06:59 AM. No automatic renewal will be performed. And in my "mangae subscrptions", I see I'm paid until Aug. 2012. Either way thanks.
  20. Thanks. I really didn't expect to win. Timing couldn't have been better, my benefactor subscription ran out today. I do understand that you may not have intended for there to be 2 winners. So if there is a problem and only have the money (or want) to renew one subscription give it to MrBrian. I'm just happy I won.......
  21. It's hard to beat a Spyderco for the money. I don't "carry" any knife I can not afford to loose, break, or if I have to abuse. The SpyderCo Tenacious can be found for around $40 (or less) The next would be a Native III. I have a Benchmade called the Mini-Pika II. It is also great for the money. But I'm not sure it is made any more. But the kicker is I carry a Buck Bantam (small) all the time. It doesn't hold an edge as well as the others but it sharpens back up FAST. Plus, I've never had it rust on me yet, I've left it in clothes soaked with sweat in the summer. I have had other knives (even stainless) rust when left in sweaty pockets for days. The stonewashed stainless Kershaw would do this in a couple days. But I think they changed the steel to "fix" this problem As I have seen others do this as well.
  22. I'll retry again, but this time change the ones I know were wrong..... 23. My best guess is: 1).40 S&W 2)32-20 Winchester 3)25-06 4)6.5x55 5)220 Swift 6)45-70 Government 7)12 Guage Shotshell 8)7.62x25 Tokerev 9)9x18 Makarov 10)223 Remington 11).38 Special shotshell 12)7mm-08 Remington 13)22 Winchester Magnum
  24. Looks like an Armscor M1600R. They sell for like $175.00 new. And resell is maybe...maybe $125. I have a friend that has (or had) one. He brang me a bag with the trigger in it one day. The trigger looks to be made of "pot metal" (actually it's Metal Injection Molded) and no one seems to have one in stock. Other than that he said it shot fine. I asked him what it went to and he told me. His was the regular M1600 version with full stock. http://www.armscor.c...h/autorifle.htm I could NEVER get the company to answer, it kept saying " the lines are full" or something. I have no idea what he did with it. He bought it USED at a gun show. So I'm pretty sure warranty is not going to happen any ways. I'm not putting down your rifle by any means. I'm just saying be careful with it, Because if it breaks, I have no idea how to get parts, I found a few but none had the trigger. Hope that helps.
