  1. My old boss and I are running out to Everything Weapons Sunday to check out the Anderson stripped lowers they have for $50. If they look good, hard to beat that with no transfer fee added. If not, then I will get another Spikes. It will be my friends first AR, he is excited as I was the first time I put a lower together.
  2. Hey Batman, where are you? I've been waiting for you to comment. I'm starting to worry that you went to check your stand and the chiggers got ya!
  3. Awesome, we love pictures 'round here!
  4. I've never been on a bear hunt. I have hunted on my buddy's farm over the years in the eastern part of Jackson County and have seen bear scat on the narrow trails going up the side of the big hill/small mountain. The trails are lined with thick briars, cedars, and bodock trees, so you get a lil chill bump when you see the scat at 4 am heading through the dark and hope the bear isn't sitting in front of you  :ugh: We haven't seen one ourselves up there but 15 minutes from there, his aunt had a black bear standing in her driveway one night when she came home. So they are around in the area, just not that we have seen in person.
  5. That is AWESOME!! Thanks for sharing
  6. Hell, I got excited just reading how good your hunt spot is looking!
  7. I've never hunted it but hear there are some big deer up there. Still be worth a shot to me until I got to make it back to TX.     Never forget that deer huh? Love to see a pic if you have one. Call me crazy, but I like the odd looking ones. Sounds like he was a tough ole feller, but glad you put him out of his misery. I saw a doe a few years ago off of Percy Priest that was limping VERY badly. I felt terrible as I watched her limp and bounce along wayyyy out of bow range. Tried to make a good story out of it and told myself that she may heal up and be fine even though it seemed more like a severe shoulder injury instead of a leg injury.
  8. I didn't say anything because I thought you wanted someone close to you. But just in case, I have been going to the same guy, for as long as I can remember but he is in Ashland City. His name is Keith Kilgore. I assumed that was probably farther than you'd want to go, but if you don't find one, he does great work.
  9. I actually really enjoyed the whole video. Nicely done and informative, especially with the 2 camera views for small items. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Very nice!
  11. It could be, I've heard that too. I think it would be cool if my daughter got one like that for her first deer. After that, it only gets better lol. I know it wouldn't be a monster but it would have character on the wall along with the story of "My first deer".
  12. Dang! Well you should have at least a fat doe on the ground opening day if not one of those bucks if you want to.   My buddy who hunts the same land I do has a camera out (periodically) and has quite a few does on there regularly and the only buck I've seen on it is a cockeyed spike. Right one is about 10 inches and left is about 4 and curly.
  13. I hope your truck is loaded with deer like the tree is loaded with pears  Glad it finally came around and started producing.   I went out today and checked my spot and the mineral block is really getting hit!  :woohoo:  Not one kernel of corn anywhere, they have tore the ground up like crazy!! I know Slappy already knows but I got tore up again seeing the signs! LOL
  14. A Slide Fire or the one in the OP?
  15. Hmm hadn't heard of this one before. Thanks for sharing.
  16. I went to check my stand area and see how much more traffic had come through to the mineral block today. Turns out my friend had a bunch of people over for a big party. I know he wouldn't have cared if I just rolled right on back to the woods, but I felt like that would have been rude and just left. I'll swing out tomorrow sometime and check it.
  17. Great review, thanks Slappy. I hope you knock multiple deer down from each of your new stands this year!
  18. Holy crap, that is awesome! Chances are very small to find one in even decent shape, much less like the one you've found
  19. Well, 2 weeks from tonight, I'll be staring at the ceiling thinking "Why do I even try to go to sleep this early? I know I'm gonna be up till 1, and have to wake up at 3." And love every minute of the conversation I have with myself before heading out the door and jump in the truck for opening day of deer season!!!!
  20. Welcome to TGO!
  21. Glad to hear he's okay!
  22.  LMAO Musicman!
  23. ^^^Yowzaa!
  24. I think about this all the time too, but more towards doors and windows. Not saying I'm happy that rounds will go through the house, but once a window is broke it's broke. Once someone busts the front door it's busted, although you can block it with other items even if not as sturdy. I'm far enough away from Nashville that the worst of it would hopefully not make it to me until I had time to get moved to the planned hold up location. That of course depends on gridlocked highways and whatnot.    But as mentioned above, I'll be shooting back....heavily!
  25. Mine's not quite that nice, I had to use a manhole cover for my lid    But it's a TACTICAL manhole cover!
