And get a box and label it "stuff I bought for my AR'S that I thought I'd love" lol
  2.     Now THAT'S a one liner!

    My first AR

Hell yeah! Awesome picture! And, I'm assuming you're happy with your FIRST of many AR's (at least first of a few)?
  5. I thought it was because the one picture looks like it's floating with a wall behind it, but you may be right.
  6. Thank you Dolomite, glad that's all I was able to do. I also figured I could replace it whenever my LBK gets here.
  7. I was using Rem Oil as soon as I realized it was going to take work. There was no moving it by hand at all, took a hammer and punch the whole way in and out for the first 20-30 times. After that it was getting where I could move it part of the way by hand, then finally today I got it to where I could do it with my hand all the way, though still very snug. But as long as it works with my upper correctly, I'm fine with that. I didn't know if there was a tip someone might now (sandpaper sleeve, file, etc) for the holes. May not be, maybe just have to do like I did and that's fine too because I was definitely honing my patience skills the whole time :)
  8. I'd love to have one of the upper level AR's too but unless I get a BIG raise it's not gonna happen. I'm not too worried about it either because they basically are something I'd want over what I need and not a lot noticeable as far as function (to make it worth the 2x price tag).  :2cents:
  9. Thanks Greg, I was looking all around the garage for something that would do it evenly. Last thing I wanted to do was make one hole bigger than the other. I also was worried about making the pin too small and it not fitting the upper correctly. I would rather have made the holes bigger to fit the pin, but if the pin was too big for the holes in the lower I figured it would be too big for the upper as well. Hopefully all is well and I agree, too tight versus too loose.

    AR 15

DANG! Dave, That's "build" price for an assembled one. And like OS said, you could be the first TGO'er to have one

    AR 15

Exactly what I was gonna recommend! Glad you're getting one Dave
  12. I ordered one from Primary Arms and the front holes for the pivot pin were extremely tight. I wrote about it in the Gunsmithing section tonight. It seems nice and I read pretty good reviews on them. Maybe I just got that one that was a little off. Everything else seemed fine though.
  13. That would have been cool to see too!    Pssst..May not want to play the "Guess what day it is!?!?!" commercial in front of him
  14. SOOOOOOOOOOOO happy to hear you got him back! Also awesome that he was taken good care of, and what a bonus to the story "He befriended a camel while he was gone". Not a story you hear very often
  15. Picked up a Matrix Aerospace lower today at Guns N More in Smyrna today for $86.91 OTD. They did a soft opening today, do NFA items, cerakote, 60 day layaway and have a decent amount of stuff in with the rest coming in on the grand opening Nov 1. Really nice folks!   (From their FB page) $15 transfers for Everyone $10 transfers for Law Enforcement - Firefighters - EMTs - & Teachers <----This is awesome! + $10 TICS (Background Check) Credit Cards Accepted (NO EXTRA CHARGE) 164 S Lowry St Smyrna TN 37167 615-905-1987
  16. I'm sure there's an easier way to fix/diagnose what I ran into last night. I figure many of you have ran into it, just curious what y'all do.  I had a CMMG LPK without the FCG and decided I'd go ahead and put in the pivot pin, bolt catch, and mag release until my LBK comes in. Figured it to be a 5 minute job like usual, but not so much. Mag release and bolt catch went in easily, pivot pin wouldn't slide in. I grabbed my little hammer and tapped it a little bit, then tapped it back out with a punch thinking it may have just been stubborn. 2 hours later of thinking, tapping in and out, using a dremel with soft pad to smooth out the pin and it would go in but still extremely tight (too tight to do by hand). I got home from the woods today and tapped it in and out probably 50 times and I think it will work now, I'd rather have it a little tight than too loose. I'm assuming the holes were out of spec since the pin will fit into my Matrix lower just fine. BUT I smoothed the pin out last night, so that's just an assumption as of now. I didn't really feel comfortable running a drill bit through the holes, figured I'd mess up more than I fixed. Anyway, thoughts, comments?
  17. Welcome to TGO!
  18. Glad to hear it!
  19. He had that blank stare of "Oh yeah?? Well I'll tell you what I'd change on you!" LOL I'd love to know how that ride home conversation went
  20. You don't need a bipod, you need stabilizing arms off a dang backhoe!
