I'm headed up there tomorrow with a friend. Not buying anything but he's looking for this feller that used to bring in about 5 or 6 used coach guns every show. He is wanting one bad. I just left my friends house that is going with me, he just got his first AR. I showed him how to disassemble and clean it, he's pretty excited about that! I enjoyed seeing him be happy to learn, now to get him to the range to shoot his own instead of having to borrow one at the range. Your own is so much better than someone elses!

congrats! Reminds me, I need to take my 30-30 to the range next time I go. Black rifles have made me neglect the poor Marlin, and at one time it was my only rifle. I need to get it out and run some rounds through ol Lefty the Lever.

Anytime. That is one of the soft Magpul grips on there, it still looks good. I'm actually looking forward to wear marks as they are made. I just ran out and snapped these pictures to show how it looks now. The few wear marks on it, make it look better to me.

Yes. I mainly concentrated on the metal obviously but quick spray over the handguard and grip just to blast any oil off. I have noticed no negative effects, I use brake cleaner on a regular basis and while I don't spray any plastic on purpose while doing so, I don't go out of my way to avoid it. Use non-chlorinated brake cleaner only if you try it.

So after seeing LeniorGunner's thread on his first AR, I got to thinking about mine since it was an M&P as well. Wanted to come back to this thread and see what it looked like before I painted it. So I started reading through my thread and kinda chuckled when I read my response below about "get another AR". I didn't realize it had been such a short time ago that I tried building one and then another and so on. Here's what I have complete so far. Took two of the new ones to the range this past weekend but the one in the middle is now ready to go be tested out. It will also be painted as soon as we get another TN spring day in winter. Hope to have my pistol done soon but I've been saying that for 2 months! Anyway, little group picture of them:
