I've always used Aeroshell grease when installing AR15 barrels and buffer tube assemblies. As far as grease for the trigger and hammer assembly I've always used the grease Geissele sends you. After looking on the web, I found that the Geissele red grease is Mobil 28 and ordered some off Amazon. Scrolling through Google for ideas is like a Chevy vs Ford argument with the addition of people who probably haven't used any of them. That being said, I am curious what you guys use. And if any of your favorites are greases that you can buy in a local store. Honestly with the two above greases pretty easily obtainable, I may not even sway my choice but you never know. What say you?

Very nice! Congratulations, I've been drooling over those for a while with empty pockets.

Welcome aboard!

Thanks. For me the first album is the only one I know anyway. Hope it's a good time!

A friend of mine bought tickets for himself and girlfriend who is an ex now lol. I'm going with him and damn sure wouldn't pay those ridiculous prices to see anyone. But I'm glad he asked me to go and hoping Axl doesn't show up 3 hours late like he's known to do. Anyone else headed up there?

I agree. Very precise instructions, great explanations and camera angles. I actually watched his videos over and over before I tried to build anything

Here's a small clip of me running the new rifle. I got the buis dialed in quickly and decided to test out the new JP 3.5 lb springs I'd added to the ALG QMS trigger/hammer. I was initially concerned with light primer strikes since the springs felt extremely light compared to anything I've used. But it ran very smooth with no issues at all.

I went with a Dillon 550b as recommended by close friend and TGO member. Also the reviews about quality helped, but customer service was bragged on by everyone. Glad they are living up to their reputation for you.

I am sure glad to hear that! I showed my wife and as usual her eyes lit up like mine. But with 4 already it's hard seeing any animal needing a loving home. Glad this one was fortunate!

Suggestions for iron sights on AR 15
rugerla1 replied to idoxlr8's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I love my Troys! This is definitely a better than normal price and if I wasn't broke would grab another set. For fixed sights I really love the Daniel Defense set. I also have no issues with the Magpul MBUS for cost effective buis. -
I have used quite a few different brands, but for the past year have used ALG True Milspec and BCM assemblies with nothing but perfect fit and finish. A little more money but worth the worry free process.

Can't say that I've ran into it. Out of spec buffer tube possibly?

I saw a bunch for 75 and 85 but did see some for 59 which I don't think is ridiculous. But saw several Spikes lowers for $109 & $119. Far right booth had complete Anderson lowers for $259. I got a lot of good deals on parts, but i wasn't after lowers so just laughed. What i didn't laugh at is the fact that someone probably paid it!

I've spent a lot of money at Academy Sports, but....

Nice! -
All of my handguards cost less then this one. But given the quality and the fact that they give you a gas block with the rail it is worth the money. Just that most of the time for me, I'm scrimping and scraping to get a hundred bucks together for a cheaper rail. My UTG rail is still one of my favorite bargain priced rails! But it's only a problem because I wasn't happy with just one really nice and expensive AR. I had to go and learn how to build the damn evil things!
-
I agree! Thanks NBS, I've never ran a Geiselle rail, but liked the other versions they had. When I started seeing reviews of the Mk8, I knew right then that I wanted it on this build. Definitely not on the cheap side but I'm not putting one on every AR I own either!

I really can't wait to shoot this rifle for the first time! I may have time this weekend, but I'm going to have to do some serious squeezing of duties to make it happen. Even then, it may not be possible. I already have the A.R.M.S. 30mm mounts but still need a scope. I guess irons will have to do for now until I get the funds for the optic. I don't want to skimp on glass, which will make the wait even longer. I guess I could mount one of my old fixed power scopes on temporarily.

I like the break up paint job! Nice shorty!

Oh in that case, I'll feel right at home! I think a 9mm in AR platform would be fun, even if I had no real "reason" to have it but to have it.

Thanks Hipower! My first couple were carbine length (gas systems anyway) and then started reading about smoothness of mid-length. All of the remaining builds are middy's. As far as barrel length, I've been wanting to do an 18" for a couple years but then all of a sudden this year I got the bug for a 24" fluted barrel. Not sure why, I was just interested. I found some through Sanders Armory out of Florida and almost went for it but as soon as I talked to the guys at BA I decided the Hanson profile 18" was my direction. I really would have preferred to have a rifle length gas system on this particular barrel but I am sure I'll still be happy with it. I reckon I'll still do the 24" at some point, but I want another SBR, I want an AK, I want a few scopes, I want....to have the money to do all of them! I don't have an AR9 so when I do I may have to ask you for help HAHA!

Thank you bigun! Thanks alot MMM! I truly enjoyed building this one, and really love how it turned out. Ballistic Advantage barrels are really nice. I spent a lot of time talking to them at the NRA show in Louisville this year and decided to give them a shot. Very happy that I did and only have to shoot it to be completely satisfied. The have a sub-moa guarantee with match ammo that I can't wait to put to the test Also, the Geissele Mk8 rail was very easy to mount and made extremely well. What else would you expect from Geissele though right? I would also like to do another group buy on a TGO set. I need to do a family photo of my two CMT's and post them together

Congrats! I've been wanting one for a while since I've never owned one. Every time I get serious about it, I get another flare up of the nasty evil black rifle disease and parts start appearing on my workbench!
