  1. Well the ARMS rings are WAY too high. Can't afford to get good ones now so the ARMS will go back in the safe and I'll try to find some cheap ones to use for a while. Still very happy to have the scope though!
  2. I agree. I was at my friends farm this weekend shooting his GA Precision in 260 with 5-25 Nightforce on it. On 25x I could tell that your cheek weld had to be perfect. Well for me anyway. I figured if I go with HS Precision I'd have to add an adjustable cheek piece or if I go with Magpul Hunter stock I believe it has raised cheek or adjustable but can't remember if both options are available on it. I guess I'll have to buy a stock pack for now to get me by. Buying even a $200 Magpul stock is out of the question at this time. The scope was a big expense for me but totally worth it. I was raised on beans, I reckon eating them for a while again won't hurt a thing
  3. Thanks Leroy! It's out for delivery now so I'm getting more excited every minute.
  4. I've looked at them and like them a lot. Never spoke with anyone personally to get a review but reviews online seem to be positive. Yeah the PST is very nice and a tad out of my price range. But I will be hunting with this rifle so I think this was a good choice for my needs. Can't wait to look through it!
  5. I went with MOA simply because I'm not familiar enough with the MRAD system and have heard many people say they didn't like it as well. But I also understand that it my be a system I would like if I tried it. Just didn't want to risk buying and then wishing I hadn't. If that makes sense.
  6. Until now, the nicest scope I've ever owned is a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40. Always had Busnell and Simmons scopes for years. Some of them were nice quality so I'm not downing them but the Leupold stood out way ahead when I bought it. I finally saw the light of putting as much money in glass as the rifle. I've been doing some long range shooting with some friends of mine and it got me very interested, yet quickly found the limits of my current scope. Now don't get me wrong, I'd love to buy a Nightforce 5-25 but 1) My wife would beat me with it and 2) I just simply can't afford it. But I have been doing a lot of research and decided my needs would be nicely met with a Vortex Viper HS-T 6-24x50. It should be here tomorrow and I cannot wait!! Honestly this scope cost to me feels like I did buy a Nightforce haha. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford one down the road. I have a set of QD A.R.M.S. 30mm rings in the safe so I may use them for now until I can afford a new set of rings. Vortex, Badger Ordinance, and Nightforce are the rings I'm deciding on since they all have some nice products. Some nicer than others and price definitely reflects this. I'll have to do some research for height per ring manufacturer before I buy though. Anyway, I know I'm in trouble for not having pictures but will post when I get it mounted. HS Precision stock for the Rem 700 SPS Tactical will be the next necessity for sure since the Hogue flexes way more than I want.
  7. Wow that sucker lit it up didn't it!?
  8. I'm literally watching this movie right now haha!
  9. Man, that looks like a beast!
  10. Glad she was finally found. Haven't had time to read any details http://fox17.com/news/local
  11. Man! Finally felt like deer season this morning! It was nice and cold and had a deer fly past the back of my stand just as day was breaking. Had coyotes yelping all around the property I hunt so that could be what he/she was running for. Then 9am had a doe come flying up from behind me and ran within five yards of my stand and bringing up the rear was a button buck chasin her like he knew what to do lmao. Then at 10am had four doe come straight down my trail on my right side. No shot as I use the cedar tree on my right for cover just in case they sneak in on me from that direction. They crossed behind me giving me no opportunity but I was still so happy seeing them. Then about an hour later had two more does walk from my right to my left, wind in my face, except they were about 40 yards out and too many little branches in my way. I would not shoot 40 yards anyway, it's out of my comfort zone and not worth risking bad shot. All in all great day in the woods! Just got home and gonna miss evening hunt, family reasons. Anyone do any good this morning?
  12. Sitting, well swaying, in a tree since 5. Glad I brought a jacket, little chilly with all the wind blowing. No deer moving here yet. Congrats Connair7!
  13. I just downloaded it last week after hearing guys on TDH page from Facebook. Pretty cool though honestly I haven't figured everything out that it will do.
  14. Never heard this before. If I buy broadheads I'd expect them to be ready. Thanks for the info though
  15. I just took my dog outside before he jumps in the bed. Man! It feels SO good outside and it's killing me knowing I'm going in to work in the morning instead of into my stand
  16. Personally I'm partial to deep woods, so that's where I'd be. But yesterday I wouldn't have minded being on the edge of a field with that rain having just moved through. I'm working tomorrow but good luck, I hope you have deer all around you.
  17. I'm hunting woods only. From what I'm hearing they are moving a lot more since yesterday's rain. I sure wanted to be in my stand this morning! I took off this coming Monday to extend my weekend hunt. Just requested first week of muzzleloader off as well.
  18. Dang, I was happy to lay eyes on one buck today! No shooters or no shot?
  19. What an awesome reason to have to buy another stand! I didn't see a dang thing. As the sun dropped it didn't cool off either. I was sweating the entire time, hell they probably smelled me and stayed way away haha.
  20. Sitting my new Summit and loving it. If the breeze wasn't here it'd be miserable. I'm hunting a different spot this evening. Good luck!
  21. Beautiful morning! A lot of people said they were hot even earlier this morning but it was co where we hunted. It warmed up quite a bit around 9 so we left at 10. Saw one nice buck 50 or so yards out, no shot and also a huge rabbit. Great morning and can't wait to get back out this evening.
  22. Wow, the wait is finally over (for us bow hunters anyway)! The last month has flown by for me. I bought a Mathews Switchback from my uncle who took excellent care of it. Put new everything on it including new cam for my draw length. I absolutely love this bow! Cannot wait to get in the ladder stand tomorrow. I also finally upgraded my climber. Been using a Summit Classic Viper for about 15 years. It's been a great stand, heavy but great. I went to Bass Pro and picked up a new Viper SD and the 9 less pounds are noticeable:) I want to wish everyone a successful season but only after I strongly wish that you ALL wear your harness while in the stand! Come home to your family after every hunt safely. May your aim be true!!
  23. I am truly sorry for you loss and angry at the failure of those who did not listen and help! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and my heart aches for y'all.
  24. I would have expected them to be really sharp as well. I just put my Rage Hypodermic broadheads on a few minutes ago. They are sharp for sure. Maybe call customer service and ask them? I've heard good things about NAP
