Just got home. Dang diggity is was cold out there! I didn't see one deer, only a cat...and not a bobcat  :down: . I got out there at 5:15 and stayed till 12:30, that's about all I figured I better do since half the guy the guys on my crew have been sick and I don't want to get sick before Thanksgiving. Headed to Missouri to visit family and maybe hunt some with my Dad.

Dave, I left out the most important part. It wasn't just that there were deer in the woods, they were around the tree I marked as 20 yards from my stand! It was still cool to see them though. Gonna get some sleep and hit it again tomorrow.

So I made it to the stand 30 minutes later than I planned due to driver showing up at work late. Pull in and park in my usual spot, and glance in the woods and there stood 8 freaking deer!!! Dang you late driver!!! By the time I got out and got my gun, as quietly as possible, and eased in the woods to see if they just moved deeper in, they were gone. Wind+cold=what y'all said earlier! I was fine till the last hour and my feet and ears got cold. Love it though, lot less leaves on the trees and cold weather, that's what gun season is! Only heard one gun shot all afternoon.

I'm concerned about the wind playing a factor too, but I can't help it, I'll be out there anyway just like you were. Maybe this evening will be better?

As far as I know, here in Smyrna, all of the WMA land is bow, muzzleloader, or shotgun only.
