Dry sorry to hear about your loss, prayers for you and your family!

Wow! I just saw this on the news, unbelievable, and very sad.

Thanks Hipower! I enjoy trying different methods to see what looks good for me.

Thank you GT! Understand though, I still get nervous every time I start to do another. I’m always hoping it turns out good and not just looking like my coloring books when I was 3 Thanks John75, but...... Trust me I was nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs on my first one!!

I appreciate it Mike!

Thank you!!

Thank you boatman! Give it a shot. Good thing is, if you mess something up, you can do it again. I am dang sure not a professional and worry every time how it will turn out. But I may make a video next time just to show the process of how I figure out what I’m going to do as I do it. I’ll upload it to my YouTube channel and post it here.

Thanks Mike!!

Yeah, I surely didn’t expect it to turn out that way when I started it. Just though it would be dark brown smears that would need blending to even look good. Really surprised me. I’ll definitely use this method again for background work too.

Thanks Kahrman, I appreciate it!

Thought I’d share a few of the camo schemes I’ve messed with. Nothing fancy and far from professional but thought I’d share. Maybe someone may get the nerve to do it on their own. Somewhat of a tree bark imitation trial here. My first ever camo job. Some of you probably remember me posting this years ago. This was done using only black and grey for something different. Nothing special, just wanted some FDE break up. This is the rifle is use for coyote hunting most of the time. A guy at work made some vinyl cutouts he wanted me to try out and this is what I was able to do. Adhesive vinyl would definitely be much cleaner but it works to break up the outline if you’re in a pinch or hurry. I was not happy with the pattern after trying out the stencils so the next picture is how I finished the look Definitely more broken up and “camouflaged”. I want to get it outdoors and see how well it’s hidden in the woods. My mk18! This turned out pretty cool looking. Basically this is brushed with dark earth. I used a thin foam brush, dabbed some little areas of dark earth paint and “smeared” the brush back and forth. It turned somewhat burnt bronze-ish. I liked the look, but it didn’t break up the silhouette as much as I wanted. But as you’ll see in the next picture this outcome worked very good for the base layer color. Here is how the mk18 looked after I applied some FDE and more dark earth. I’m much happier with this. My Rem 700 SPS Tactical in .308. Base layers are Aluma Hyde od green, brushes in fde, dark earth, and finally some small sections of black to finish it off. Very happy with how this one turned out! Edit: Forgot to add my Remington 870 so here it is. Edit Part 2: Adding the Savage 110 Tactical 6.5 Creedmoor pictures. With barrel and scope painted:

Walther P38 9mm sight replacement
rugerla1 replied to rugerla1's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
@Garufa Thanks for the link! I was just searching YouTube to see how difficult it was and found those same two videos. You’re right it seems pretty cut and dry. Thanks again, I’ll pass the link on to him tonight after work. -
Hey y’all, my friend has one of these pistols. The other day at the OK Corral shooting range the rear sight popped out and bounced toward his head. He thought it was a spent case when it happened. I told him to contact Walther and get their advice or see if they wanted him to send it somewhere. Neither of the two places they mentioned were in TN so I’m trying to find him a spot to go. Anyone recommend a gunsmith that works on old Walthers? The piece is around $60 and the two springs are $18 per spring according to the person he spoke with. Not sure if that price will be different locally or not. I don’t think he wants to put several hundred dollars into it if it comes to that. Any advice is welcome and thanks in advance. Edit: He lives in Smyrna/LaVergne area

Thanks! They were both glad I thought to grab my phone and try to catch some footage. I honestly didn’t think they’d turn out but it picked up the sound pretty well. Ready to go back and make a video of me doing it.

I recorded a few short videos of my friends shooting the other day. Can’t wait to make it back out there to finally bang the steel at 1,035. This time I’ll have enough ammo when we leave the short range

Man that is beautiful!!

It would be nice to see them even though I can’t affor them. A lot of nice ones!

That’s pretty funny! I bet Uncle Rico will try and get his money back

Always wanted one of these for no other reason than just to have another plinker.

I zeroed at 100 yards. I expect it will shoot better as I keep shooting it and get used to the rifle. It’s definitely a different feel versus my Rem 700. The Stalker Lite wasn’t out when I bought the Hunter 29 so I can’t speak for it but it seems very nice as well. The Hunter 42 is for sitting in a chair/blind/etc and I would have been happy with it as well. But I got the 29 because I knew I’d mostly be sitting on the ground with my back against a tree so it would work for me. At first it seems a little awkward until you figure out your probably overthinking it. It’s very nice and adapts to different setups very easily. The Omega works very well on the 6.5 and I didn’t use hearing protection all day. Well except when my buddy shot his .243 rifle without a can lol

Had a great time shooting today!! Got the Savage dialed in. Then we moved to the 1,035 yard range before it got dark. Spotter walked my shots up to within a foot of the gong and I ran out of the ammo that I’d zeroed with (Sig Sauer 140 grain OTM) Tried five more shots with some Hornady Black but light was low and couldn’t get it done. Had so much fun though! Mounted the Area 419 Hellfire Brake this evening even though it will probably rarely get used. But the lockup design is amazing and I’m so glad to have it now. These are groups from the Sig ammo, I’m happy for this to be an off the shelf rifle, no break in at all, and especially for ammo that cost $22-$24 per box. I will load my own once I get the dies but for off the shelf ammo I’m happy.
