I am as well. I also offer to ride shotgun with any of my friends if I know they are going to a deal. Even if they are armed, a second set of eyes, more than one armed person, and also the hopes that if anyone was froggy, that they may change their mind. I feel a little less paranoid meeting anyone on here, but I don't do anything extra when going to any meet because I stay armed. Just hope I never have to say "Whew, thank God I had it". Stay safe my friends.

Congrats! I don't have one yet, but I'm happy for you anyway  -
When I am by myself, I am as polite as the situation allows. If my family is with me, there is no politeness involved in my response to anyone getting inside what I consider the "zone". These fake story tellers are a level of disgust I've yet to come up with a name for. I haven't had less than two trucks in so many years I can't remember. But 2 or 3 years ago, I stopped in the gas station across from Matco Tools on Murfreesboro Road in LaVergne while taking a break from hunting. A guy approached me in the middle of my lunch and gave me a story, so I gave him one back and continued eating. He stomped off in a hissy. A few days later I was in my other truck and again, came out of the woods for lunch and bathroom break. I guess he didn't recognize me since the vehicle was different and began his story. So I let him start the story and abruptly stopped him and finished his story. Wish y'all could have seen his face. I said "Don't ever come up to me again with that bullsh!t!" and he was gone, this time a little faster. Glad yours turned out to be non threatening but like you said, it would make me more mad at myself for letting him get that close.

Headed back out to the Corral today. Friends of ours are wanting to get their carry permits so we are taking them out for some practice. Of course I'm taking my AR and the Rem 700 for a little group therapy as well. Be wearing grey Keep Calm and Carry On shirt so say hi if you come out.

What the hell? Freak.

It makes me sick thinking about the lack of appreciation they did receive. This isn't the first time I've done this, although it's been a while since we don't eat out that much. But I am going to try even harder to spot vets and hopefully their families and help them out.

What a GREAT story! Thanks for sharing, that made me feel good and I wasn't even there.

Wow! Well that unnoticed good deed probably taught you son something good even though everyone may not appreciate it. I bet if you did the same thing 10 more times, they would all be thankful. You just found some bad apples, it happens brother. But what you teach your son, is everything! Hat's off to you  P.S. My wife would have done the same thing. lol

Thank you sir, but I am really a great-FUL American! I forgot to add, that when I told my daughter "Do you know that man fought in the same war as Paw Paw?" the look on her face was priceless. I don't know that she's old enough to quite grasp it fully, but she is learning and knows that there are men and women that give all for their country and it's people.

My wife, daughter, nephew, and myself all head to Waffle House this evening for supper. As I pull in I notice the same front plate on a Suburban that has always been on the front of my Dad's vehicles "Once a Marine, Always a Marine". I get the same proud grin every time I see it, or any military branch plate. We walk in and I see the older Marine sitting at a table by himself wearing his Vietnam Veteran cap and walk directly to him to thank him for his service. My daughter and nephew followed and thanked him as well and we all shook his hand. He smiled, thanked us, and wished us a good evening. When we sat down, I waved his waitress over and before I could say anything she walked up, smiled, and said "You want his check don't you?". I guess she could see how proud we all were to thank this man for all he'd done. As we finished our meal, I just thought about all of our veterans and how I wish I could buy every single one of them a meal and how it's the least we could do. As we were getting up to pay, he was leaving as well and had just been told that we'd taken care of his check. He walked up to us, leaning on a cane, and I wish y'all could have seen the smile on his face. It was heart warming. He thanked us, and said told us that it was a blessing to him. I told him Thank You and that he was a blessing to us and that MANY people are so proud of all that vets give and wished him a "God bless you Sir". One of the greatest things about this forum is that I know we all think a lot of our vets and have a lot of members who are vets too. I also want to take this time to thank you all for everything you have done and do everyday. :usa: I've always respected what the men and women of our armed forces risk and give up for their country. But as I've gotten older, it sinks in even more. God Bless the USA and all those who fight for her!

Sorry, I didn't check here the whole time I was there. I left at 11:45. Wish I'd seen your post. Good show, Tactical Edge had Pmags for $10 grabbed 3. And finally made it to David's area and met Sam but David wasn't there yet. Nice to meet you Sam. Also picked up a leather holster for my Glock 23 for $10 used but works nice for me
