Holographic options for AR
itchytriggerfinger replied to Smiddy's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I hate to beat a dead horse but ...... EOTech  -
My Mark II also has a heel release. What's the big deal if you're just going to use it for plinking? We're not doing tactical reloads with those pistols. Now, if you are thinking of shooting some steel plate comps, then yeah, you should look at something with a thumb release.

I have a Ruger Mark II Target S/S with the 6 7/8" slab barrel. I shoot iron sights, but you can scope it as well.

Indoor IDPA Nashville
itchytriggerfinger replied to JimHouchin's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Yeah, it was my first event too. I'm hoping he loses my score card. :) I completely missed a target in stage two. But it was fun. I think a group of them went out afterwards. -
I wear the Galco Silhouette High Ride holster.

Indoor IDPA Nashville

Not sure on stages or shooter limit. $20 for Nashville Armory members. $25 for non-members. -
This actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Of course now I want to build a 1911 race gun!

What You'll See In The Rebellion...
itchytriggerfinger replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That map has been proven useless time and time again because of the disproportion between land and population. If we change the map to reflect this, you see your concentration of red states in the south. I suppose I shouldn't have made such a generalized statement, but I was thinking of the Nightline piece I saw not too long ago with the KKK group in Tupelo, MS. I'm sorry, those guys are idiots. -
What You'll See In The Rebellion...
itchytriggerfinger replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, I really don't see a big rebellion happening. Perhaps a few strongholds in the south that will certainly get smoked by a coordinated offensive attack from a trained military force. -
Yeah, I experienced the ninja farts as well today in Lebanon. My first time there, and probably the last unless I'm just really bored. There just wasn't much selection.

Sounds like you need new friends. :) I have a CZ and it's one of my favorite gun to shoot ... and I have some upper end pistols. -
suggestions for a target 38 or 9mm handgun
itchytriggerfinger replied to rockman6's topic in Handguns
I have an XD Tactical and put a Powder River Precision Ultimate Match Target Trigger. It's sweet. 5" barrel for great sight picture, and crisp trigger with over-travel stop. You can pick up a used XD Tactical for about $500-$550 and the trigger will run $135. Buff and fluff the rest of it and you'll have a great paper puncher. The XDm 5.25 is a sweet ride too for about $750, though IMO I think it could use some trigger work out of the box. -
What'd Santa's sorry fat butt bring you?
itchytriggerfinger replied to Caster's topic in Show and Tell
Sounds like someone else did their own shopping :) -
That's pretty slick. I never thought about doing a bamboo handle.

Yes, and I think applicants should have to hit 100%. It's a controlled range environment at what I consider to be easy distances. If you can't do 100% in the range, you definitely can't do it in a crisis situation. I was at the range last week shooting .22 at 25 yards and I brought my target up to find six 9mm holes in the paper. WTF? The guys shooting beside me were at 5 yards and all over the silhouette.

Well our data is already out there; it's public record. I moved here 2 years ago, and my name is posted here: http://www.commercialappeal.com/data/gunpermits/ I'm a software engineer and have spent much time in the geocoding sector. Though our full address isn't in the record, it wouldn't take much to match the information given with the numerous white-pages out there to come up with a map.

+1 on the Sig 938 I like the Shield as well.

I highly recommend Big Star Cigar in Mount Juliet. The guys in there are super nice and have an awesome humidor with a fine selection of hand rolled sticks. I'm an occasional smoker, and like most others, my wife hates the smell so I smoke at their shop to keep the peace. As far as favorites, the Torano and Elogio sticks are probably my first picks.

Do you allow your kids to arm themselves when home alone?
itchytriggerfinger replied to Links2k's topic in General Chat
Yeah, a lady at our office got a bad call one day on that. Her son is 16 and an accomplished trap shooter. He has grown up around guns and also had .22 and shotguns readily available. Well, one day, bored and home alone with some buddies, they though it would be cool to look at dad's .45 in the top dresser drawer. Playing around acting like they were playing Call Of Duty or something, he manages to blast a hole through the TV. Scared the bejesus out of both of them. Luckily neither were hurt, and a big wake-up call for the parents. -

Purchasing first Carry Weapon (first handgun at that)
itchytriggerfinger replied to a topic in Handguns
Your post is "Purchasing First Carry Weapon". Full-frame pistols get annoying to carry IMO. Your are pretty much relegated to carrying in the 3 o'clock position, it snags on your seat belt, and not to mention it prints in anything less than a sweatshirt. Of course I don't care if I print, but I carry everyday, and want to be comfortable. Personally I carry a PPK, but you could consider the Sig P232, or the M&P Shield. Something small, lightweight, easily concealable, and comfortable. I carry IWB tucked in the 5 o'clock position and forget I have it on. The Galco J-hook holster allows me to tuck in my polo shirts. The number one thing with any first pistol is to practice with your carry weapon. Pistols are a different animal than rifles, and take A LOT of practice to become proficient. I was at the range yesterday and would be scared to be in the same room as some of those shooters if they were trying to protect a group of people. Shooters were all over the paper at 5 yards, and I had 9mm rounds hitting my target at 15 years. WTF, that was an innocent! -
Are reloading supplies getting scarce like ammo?
itchytriggerfinger replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
The Reloaders Bench in Mount Juliet still had a pretty good stock. I stopped by yesterday and I don't think I've ever seen that many people in there; I felt like a sardine. Most of them looking for ARs and walking back out. Some good deals to be had on pistols though. -
Cancellation of gun-related TV shows

Interesting. Weapon in the trunk was definitely a shotgun.
