  1. Anyone from the Mt Juliet area going this weekend?  I'll fly if you buy.  No sense in everyone wasting gas when we can split it.  I can fit four in my truck.
  2. I have a Chef's Choice M120 3-stage sharpener that can often time cure Sharpnessunobtanium. It puts a razor edge on my kitchen and filet knives. It even put a decent edge (not razor) on those $10 Smith & Wesson tanto knives from Bass Pro.
  3. Mind to share what the violation was?  I'm new to this as well and hope to make my first trip to your range this weekend for the steel match.
  4.   $40.99 plus tax has been the going rate around here for a while on the 100 count Winchester.
  5. Four boxes of 100rd .45acp at Dickerson Pike.  That was it other than a few 17hmr and some rifle rounds.  Bleak.
  6. I just finished up a bottle of John F. Fitzgerald Larceny. Quite tasty and moderately priced. Will buy again.
  7. No problem.  Shoot him a PM, he's always trolling around.
  8. Though it's not complete (probably better if you actually pay), I get it, and know more now than I did when I started. :)
  9. You guys are awesome. Thank you for the good reads. I'm an engineer by trade so I eat up all the "how it's made" stuff.
  10. I used a buddy's Opinel, and it was scary sharp, but I didn't care for the handle.  When my hands were wet I had a fear of my hand slipping forward because the handle is so straight.  Bad experience with an old filet knife with the same type handle.
  11. Thank you to everyone for the responses.  I'm not totally new to knives and can lay a razor edge on a quality knife with a diamond stone.  The problem is I don't know what is truly "quality knife steel".  I've been given the handful of knives I have from my dad and other relatives.  If I can't lay a good edge on it, it gets thrown in a drawer.  If it does shave hair, it gets sharpened, used, and cared for.  With most being gifts, I have no idea what type of steel they are other than generically saying SS or CS based on stamps, rust/tarnish, etc.   I currently carry a 2" Gerber which loses it's SS edge after cutting a few pieces of tape.  But at the same time, it's a throwaway knife and I know it.  I'm looking for a folding knife that will hold that razor edge in case I forget my filet knife for gutting trout or cutting a skipjack.  Or a knife I can pull out when camping and cut a piece of rope or slice potatoes.
  12. Yeah I was reading a forum reviewing a Benchmade model and they were like "yeah, it would have been a better knife with blah blah steel." Well the difference between that one and the other was $150 versus $300. So is it $150 better? It's a pocket knife for god sakes.
  13. OK guys, don't beat me up too bad, bit I'm a noob when it comes to knives. I was looking for a good reference for what to look for in terms of knife steel. I first want a folding edc but I want something that will stay scary sharp. I'm tired of sharpening my cheap Gerber knives all the time. Of course I've been looking at Bench made and Spyderco but even they have different steels. So what should I look for and is there any sort of reference.
  14. I'm not one to get involved in politics, but people such as Senator Adam Kline are complete idiots and should be removed from office immediately.    “I made a mistake,” Kline said. “I frankly should have vetted this more closely.”   WTF you mean you didn't fully understand a bill you're the sponsor for? I don't care if it was a bill that would feed every child in the state.  You better know every I and T of that bill.    Got me so fired up I sent an email to him.   I'm done.
  15.   LOL.  Yup, I was totally thinking that sounds like something my department would do.   BTW, the trebuchet works well as long as you don't hit the ceiling.  Takes a bit of trial and error, but you will get that perfect launch.  How do I know?  Because one of our guys had one :)   Here are some on Think Geek.
  16. Have there been any "official" responses from NY on the actions from the Olympic, etc?  What about news coverage?
  17. I bought one, but have yet to carry it.  I ran 50 rounds through it and it functioned flawlessly.  Cool little gun that I pretty much got because it's cool and now sits in my safe with all the other cool guns :)
  18. I love it! I looked at a lot if bikes before pulling the trigger on the FZ8. Ducati, Triumph, BMW, etc. Those other bikes felt good, but the FZ8 just seemed to "fit" me the best. Kind of like finding that perfect 9mm. As for the forks, the bike will perform from the factory better that most of us can ride. Unless you're a seasoned racer, and I'm not, I wouldn't waste the money on forks. Just ride the bike for what it is. A traffic shredding, curve slicing, all around awesome naked bike. And please don't add one of those ugly windscreens :)
  19. 2011 Yamaha FZ8 I don't have any good pics, so I yanked one from the FZ8 forum. I have the same color and basically the same mods.
