I would hope such a ruling by the judge would be grounds for appeal. It is beyond my understanding how a toxicology report could be sheltered from the jury by the judge quashing it! To a layman like me it screams "Appeal Fodder!" If the worst pans out for GZ, I would think it a very hollow victory for the liberal segment of Florida (in the longterm). The impact could potentially result in economic boycotts from a not insignificant segment of the U.S. population. I sure as H wouldn't set foot in that state again.

In the toxicology report the ME acknowleged today that he had first believed the marijuana levels in TM were not high enough to be a (behavioral) factor. He stated today that he consulted with an out of town expert and now believed the level was enough to be a factor. This was all stated with the jury absent. My question is when the defense presents its' case isn't the toxicology report fair game? And, can't the ME's change of opinion be brought to the jury's attention? After all, I believe, in the jury's presence, the ME stated he now believes TM could have lived from 1 to 10 minutes as opposed to his earlier opinion that he could only have lived 1to 3 minutes. Thanks.

For carry on hip - Glock 26 & Kahr K9 For sheer shooting sweetness - Commander sized 1911 and Sig 228

Maybe the copy you are considering will be early enough to not have all the "Read Manual Before Use" etc. branded on it. Just a pet peeve I have about the more later day Berettas (Rugers also).

I have gotten high opinions on biased forums like the Walther Forum. Just looking for any other first hand opinions. I think the P5's final production years were around 1992 or '93. Made in Germany and U.S. distribution by Interarms. Steel slide on aluminum frame. 8 round 9mm capacity. Thanks.

Smith & Wesson Model 67 first generation stainless 4 inch .38. The early stainless S&W's seemed to have a very smooth satin finish that seems to be missing a bit in the mid 90's and on versions. Still have it ... rather my wife has it.

Better get with it Alabama! How did ya'll manage to get a "D"?

I like the look! May do mine in the exact color since it will match my hearing aid! : )

Maybe the stock is impinging on the barrel or op rod? Google the item "Garand tilt test" as one way to check for op rod and wood fit. (again, be advised I'm no Garand expert)

Generally, right on at 25 will give you about 2" high at 100 and about right on at 200. So, just that will provide an approximate Battle Sight Zero. Best to record you number of clicks for reference. To calibrate the rear sight to the battle sight setting you: Run the aperture all the way down and loosen the screw in the center of the elevating knob until you can turn the knob forward. Turn the elevating knob forward until the 300-yard index line is opposite the index line on the receiver. Turn the elevating knob forward from this point to the number of click equal to the 300-yard zero in elevation, less two clicks. Hold the elevating knob in position with your left hand and tighten the center screw, then run the aperture all the way up and tighten the screw. Check your setting by turning the elevating knob back until the 300-yard index line is opposite the index line on the receiver, then turn it as far forward as you can, counting the clicks. The number of clicks you can turn the elevating knob forward should be equal to your battle sight setting.

Even more evidence of that now "ShamGlock". You may have already noticed on the CMP site but orders for the "Springfield Armory Service Grade Specials" are now closed.

Nice! With Comcast's latest proclamation we won't be seeing it aired on any of their channels.

Interesting that the Bushies were listed for about the same price as Walmart's Colt 6920's at $1050!

I would opt for the Service Grade HRA. If it is to be a shooter HRAs are noted for their build quality. All were post WW2 and had the advantage of less rushing and a bit better metallurgy. If you go the CMP route you might as well mail order currently since very few if any SGs reach the store due to the current onslaught of orders post madness. They do have the SG Specials on the store floor generally at this point. Downside is the 30 to 60 day turnaround - more like 30 to 45 days than 60.

If looking past the 1911s, I like the Sig Compact 45s (Model 245 now only in the used market) and the Glock 30. A sleeper is the Stoegar Couger in .45 (built using the Beretta equipment shipped to Turkey). A remarkable value per quality ratio! Knowing his purposes would help but the above are mid-size muti-purpose quality pieces.

The CZ 527 carbine, in my experience, is very accurate in .223. However, it has a twist of 1 in 12 so factory 55 grain or lighter is likely best. The basic WWB fmj in 45 grain weight has proven it's metal in many examples of them. No telling what a bit of hand load experimenting would result in. Such a handy, well made, no frills carbine. The word seems to be spreading!

I keep reading on the CMP forum about the bare racks. Apparently in an effort to get ahead of the backlog they just now have closed out the ordering of Springfield Armory Service Grades (HR SGs still available with 60-90 day shipment). The .308 and 30-06 Special Grades remain both in store and for mailorder (30-60 days) as is also the case for the Service Grade Specials both SA and H&Rs. They just placed an annual limit of 10 ammo boxes of the Greek HXP ammo per customer per year (2000 rounds). Before the Madness "Mr. Orest" had projected Garand availability for another two years. I wonder what that projection might have dwindled to now?

Nice stick! Congrat's to DD for the smart way they are handling the current situation. Jcj, you mentioned hopefully this won't be you last black rifle; do you have one with a mid length gas system yet? I went that route on a 16" barrel with a H weight buffer. It seems less "jumpy" for quicker followups versus my carbine length gassed AR with a standard weight buffer.

I had a very helpful sales rep that spent much effort trying to both find the box for a price and then going online to find price information. After all that effort he went to the back room and was given the "price" for the scope. I then commented on both price issues to the sales rep saying I'm very sensitive to unreasonable pricing especially nowadays and have a long memory. He just shrugged and smiled. I didn't take further time to address it with "mgmt". I'd rather just vote by withholding my wallet, walk out, and update TGO. Most of my shopping these recent days has been via the internet. But, of course, reasonable local shops deserve our support when possible.

They appeared to have a supply of certain calibers but there were definitely "holes on the shelves". Even had some 20 & 50 round boxes of 7.62x39. No idea regarding .223/5.56. No 45 Long Colt which I was looking for.

A few weeks ago I purchased a nice CZ 527 carbine in 7.62x39 from Outpost Armory. Went back yesterday to get another 5 round magazine! They still had it! That is the good news! The bad news is they had increased the price on the mag from the msrp of $40 they had been charging up to $51! They also kindly offered to sell me a $649.00 Leupy scope for $700.00 with no box and scraped finish. I guess the sudden virus of gun fever is running rampant there. The parking lot was jam packed.

Ammunition to Go; Palmetto State Armory; Lucky Gunner; etc. etc. Delivered to your door, no gasoline, no sales tax, no inclement weather. These may be the waning days of such luxury. Edited 1/18 to say I am officially shocked at the bare shelves of the online vendors! My orders were placed early post tragedy when supplies were still there. Wow!

Okay, now I've got! This is a *^#% nightmare; I just haven't woken up yet. This unthinkable tragedy has certainly done one thing. It has resulted in many people on each side of the issue fully disclose where they stand. The "colors" of each team are patently clear. One solution doesn't fit all regions! The cultural divides are too broad. Forcing "one size fits all" solution is a recipe for disaster.

Noveske is Tier 1 for sure. The recent loss of John Noveske (age 36) a few days ago in a car crash is a great loss to the AR community. The company is determined to continue his "possesed attention" to quality. LaRue is also superb.
