Nashville Armory IDPA Feb 26 - 6:45
JimHouchin replied to JimHouchin's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Shooting was fun last night. Got to switch back to the K Frame and shoot some 38's! Right off the bat Stage one made me remember how much harder the more obscure targets are to hit. The dog targets were low and sideways, site picture was not the same! Stage two had some of the same elements, but it was Stage three that I enjoyed the most. What a GREAT simple drill to move in a box about 10 feet square and shoot from all moving directions. Also, with it being Limited you had to be extra careful as you couldn't make up the shot. It APPEARS incorporating moving into my dry-fire routine paid off with that being my "best" effort of the night. Great time as always, thanks again Nashville Armory Staff (Travis and Dale) and as always David for putting in together. -
And here we are again, Nashville Armory IDPA this evening Feb 26 - 6:45. Shooting starts at 7:00, for all beginners and new shooters to the Nashville Armory you'll want to be there before hand (6:30) to watch the mandatory range safety video and get the IDPA safety brief. COF (Course of Fire): Scenario 1: While taking a stroll, you hear shouts for help from two people who have wandered down an alley and stumbled upon a local dog ghting ring. Fight your way to them before they become lunch for the contestants. Description: Starting position is at P1, hands relaxed by shooter’s side. At the buzzer, draw and engage T1 with two rounds from cover. Advance to P2 and engage T2-T3. Move to P3 and engage T4. Advance to P4 and slice the pie on T5-T6. Scenario 2: While taking a stroll, you hear shouts for help from two people who have wandered down an alley and stumbled upon a local dog ghting ring. Fight your way to them before they become lunch for the contestants. Description: Starting position is at P1, hands relaxed by shooter’s side. At the buzzer, draw and engage T1-T2 with two rounds each. Advance to P2 and engage T3. Move to P3 and engage T4-T6. Scenario 3: Description: Starting position is at P1, hands relaxed by shooter’s side. At the buzzer, draw and engage T1-T2 with two rounds each. Advance to P2 and engage T3 through the window. Advance to P3 and engage T4. Shift to P4 and engage remaining targets.

Nashville Armory IDPA Feb 12 - 7:00

I had a great time. Shot the 44 Special with CCI Blazer +P's!!! Wasn't trying to be a smart aleck that's just all the factory ammo that was left! We did have a truncated COF, but for me it didn't effect the evening at all. I do like to B.S. but I also like to see how others shoot the stage and what I can/didn't/should/or could do next (and get all those tips from the "old heads" who know what's up... THANKS!!! Rick Robert Hognut Norma TJ) So even with just two stages I got to see the way 30 people shoot the "situation". I got to see T.J. Hooper point at the sky... I got to see a business man empty his gun and all mags on all stages! (Ex-Army here I KNOW how to burn up some ammo). And how to put pasters all over Dale! You can't put a price on that!! The club just needs it's time to mature. We all need to consider assisting in setup and take-down (and appreciate the few qualified SO/MD/Match workers with the experience to show us the way.) 2 cents delivered! :usa: See you all on the 26th! -
Just a late reminder (as always!) Nashville Armory IDPA night tonight Feb 12th 2013. Great COF tonight we've got two stages with some good movement and a third that looks like stand and deliver! Hope everyone got a chance to make it out to Gallatin Gun Club on Saturday. Classification went smoothly (even if I'm still an MM) and we certainly thank Robert for hosting another one! Ok guys hope to see you there!!
-
In case you have to do a reshoot. You are allowed on per stage I believe. That way you get a true measure of you ability on a screw-up.
-
Tish and I will be there for sure. I hope all our Nashville IDPA newbies got the announcement at the Armory Bi-Weekly meet... (and a high of 60 and sunny maybe... maybe)

Had a great night again at IDPA here in Nashville. Nice to have an indoor range for these cold and early nights!!! Can't thank Nashville Armory and especially David for getting us started. Also to Mark and Robert for helping us IDPA beginners and driving into town when they already have great places to shoot! (just too cold right now for a wuss like me!!!) That said, can't wait for the nice weather and some outdoor! Thanks again guys!

I know I'm late in the game here, but isn't it IDPA night (Jan 22nd)? :-) 7:00 PM stage one kick off right?! See you there!

6:30!

Awesome! Can't wait, and maybe the 19... it's either the 64, 65 or 19 for sure!

Are we still thinking January 8th as the first Armory IDPA Match? Been dry-firing like crazy. Got my "new" K frame and it may even be ready to shoot by then! Just checkin in, happy holidays all...
Please Keep us up to date on when this is going to start. My girlfriend is new to the sport but she will participate, and she shoots CDP.
Yea my wife started in CDP because she loves 1911's, but she hated getting battered and the cost of .45. So she got a 9mm 1911 and she's sold!
-
Yep, she's a shooter... ESP (but I don't hold it against her...)
-
Awesome David thanks for posting and letting us know. I'll be in dry fire mode until I hear further notice. And the 7:00 time works great for the wife and I as we don't usually get off work until 6:00.... just means I have no excuse! Thanks again...
I sold my favorite handgun Friday afternoon so Saturday evening I went and bought the new xds 45 very very nice range report and pics coming soon
What was your favorite gun?
One of the managers at NA told me that they did plan to hold IDPA matches soon and were working with someone who recently moved to TN who has had a lot of experience setting up stats inside. I'm sure, however, that reloaded ammo will not be allowed since it already isn't allowed (per their insurance policies). Hopefully we'll here something official in the near future!!!
Just wanted give you guys the update... I went to the range (The Armory) on Sunday and was told handgun reloads are ok to shoot. Didn't ask about rifle, but I also noticed they never asked or checked my ammo (because it was handgun ammo). They will check rifle ammo. So I'm not sure about why the conflicting information? Also, I talk to Brian, one of the owners, and he did confirm they want to start some week night IDPA. They do have some concern about accuracy, but it seems we might have another indoor IDPA choice soon!

S & W K frame revolver, I like the balance of my 3 inch guns... with old school buttler creek/UM finger groove boot grips (Or some Ahrends smooth combat boot grips)
-
38 Special \ 357 Mag 44 Spec \ 44 Mag
-
Interesting, I wasn't informed about the reloads... Not too much of a concern as I shoot factory ammo, but it won't be successfully if they don't allow everyone to play! And I guess that most IDPA guys reload. Either way, thanks for the heads up.

Word is that Nashville Armory plans to do some indoor IDPA. But not sure when.

THAT would be awesome... as I am already an anual member of The Armory! I'll check on it again this weekend. I shot over there on Sunday for the first time, but it was packed and could ask much. As far are reloads, I asked the guy about shooting your own ammo and he said they only care about steel rifle rounds, and "any" handgun round is ok. They are not a "clean" range thank God! Not that I mind lead free, but the cost is just too high.

Hi Guys! I'm new to town and want to shoot some IDPA. But I'm also to cold natured to shoot outside when the weather is bad. Are there any indoor IDPA venues around Nashville? Thanks!
