Wow , I expected to here more negatives than positives . Is this a series " 70" or "80" 1911 ?
-
All I have shot as far as 1911's are concerned are Springfields and one Colt. How reliable are the Rock Island's in full size ? Any problems , rust , jams ? I see people with them quite a bit and they are a lot cheper than the other 1911's too. I'm sure they are cast rather than machine/forged . Any information is appreciated.

I agree , to me the "powder through" dies seem like they would have powder sticking to them inside. Yes I have a scale.
-
Thanks for the information but that doesn't help one bit :stunned: These terms of powder measure and this and that dont mean anything unless I know what the items look like. Sorry guys . I am a good engine mechanic but this is all new to me .

I have the Hornady Classic Reloading Kit. Along with it I got the Lee Carbide Dies . For the life of me I am confused as to how I am supposed to get the powder into the shell cases. In my Lee 3-Die set I have the "powder through expanding die" but it just isnt that clear and I want to take lots of steps before I do all this . I have cleaned my brass in my tumbler , de-primed the brass , resized the brass and primed the brass . I have then stopped at that point back in March since I could not find any powder. Luckily I found powder yesterday ! So now I am having to remember things all over again but the powder into brass part is a little unclear to me . Any help or video's are appreciated !!!! Here is a pic of the items I have except the Lee Dies. I hope that helps . I am a newby at this but not at shooting and gunsmithing LOL

Watch a video on youtube or similar on how to detail strip (completely take apart) your Glock. With only 34 parts , you'll never want a gun with any more parts . Glock are just amazing. They work and work and work. Plus hardly need any oil at all.

I took my G22 and made it's grip into the grip of a G27 . Turned out real nice. I just took my time one day while the kids were at school and worked out well. Most all mods can be done with a soldering iron or an "exacto-knife" . Just think about what you want done and make some plans and slowly do it. You'll do fine if you go slow and dont rush.

M&P Shield will be released with no thumb safety

YES and good that they are reducing the number of the parts on the gun . Less is better in my opinion. I am hoping they will go with solid pins instead of roll pins so I can detail strip it with a punch or nail or something simple instead of using a Roll-Pin Punch . -
Glock all the way if you are a broke college dude. It will save you a lot of trouble in the long run. The shield is great but the Glock rules. I'd try and get a Gen 3 or Gen 2 . Get a used one and then study a video on youtube on how to disasemble the GLock all the way . You'll love it !!!!!!
-
Very true ! They are two awesome pistols ! Even though I hate roll-pins , the Shield is NICE . The Shield's thinness and reliability is a strong point. The Glock's strong point is , well , the whole gun ! It can be disassembled and reassembled with a nail or pen or pencil . I mean COMPLETE disasemby , not just field stripping.
-
For thinness go for the Shield , for long term shooting and reliability go for the Glock. I have both .

This is why I stick with Gen 3 , Gen 2 and Gen 1 Glocks. There is always a lemon somewhere but the Gen 4's seem to have bad things happen a bunch

I got that darn bolt out  . I used PB BLaster on it and let it soak a few more days. I then was able to buy the "Pro Grabbit" 3 piece set and it worked smooth as butter ! Thanks guys ! :usa:

That is my only weakness. Over the years this is the only thing I have ever had trouble with. Usually I can always get them out one way or the other but this was a bugger
-
Buddy , I have tried and tried all kinda of stuff. I have been working on cars since I was 12 in 1985 and I have exhausted it all. Time to reverse drill-bit it and get the "grab it" or EZ-Out" thingy .

Mazda Protege's had a recall on their factory MAFS The factory replaced ours back in 2002 . They would only replace it one time. For some reason they tend to fail quite a bit. My Protege operates just fine. The only negative thing is that its mileage has dropped to around 23 MPG. Everytime I replace the MAFS it goes back up to around 34 MPG. So that's why I was taking it out to check it. SOmetimes they can be cleaned and that's all.
-
I sprayed PB Blaster on it about 2 days ago. So it should be good and soaked now. I am not sure of my MAF sensor is still working so thats why I dont want to cut and rip off the MAF housing . I was taking it out to check it with my OHM meter to see if was still functioning. I'm waiting on Lowes to get in that extractor set . They were out but it's ordered.

All I have is Japanese and I have noticed over the years how the screwdriver fitment sucks. So that explains it ! Hey thanks , thats great to know.

I have a stripped screw head on my car's mass airflow sensor. The surrounding area is plastic but the screw goes into the hole that is lined with metal , or at least that what I could tell by looking at the area of the other screw. I'm really bad about stripping heads and and threads but this one was in there really tight and the screw head seemed really soft . Anyways , I have never used an " easy-out" dril bit . Is this a time where one would work ? The screw is small. I just dont want to damage the surrounding area . Any suggestions ? I'll try to post some pictures. Does your job require you to carry ? What job is it ?
-
That is an awesome job !

What is the bottom right Tan colored holster ? The one with 2 belt slots ? Also what gun is it for ? I like it .
-
Yes I love the ALien Gear holsters. I hate IWB but its the first one that really feels comfortable. I wore it the other day for 13 hrs and no trouble at all.
-
Women have purses and us guys have holsters. At least it's like that with my wife and me. She has a crap load of purses and never seems to find the right one. The same goes with me. I have went through a ton of holsters and I am now narrowing it down to a few. This is getting expensive and it's got to stop  Who here also suffers from this infliction ? Here are my holsters I may keep but you never know :snore: .

Are there any negatives with having an over gased gun besides it being dirty ? Would it cause the action and bolt to slam against the gun harder and hurt it ?
