I know this is about Electric smokers , but I made an old school Pit from concerete foundation blocks and didnt even cement them toagther. I just layed them on top of each other and use two pieces of plywood for the top. It makes such awesome BBQ . The Blocks were $50 for a bundle and everything else was just cheap scrap wood ,expanded metal and rebar . I use an old 50 gallon drum barrel to burn my wood in . I cut small hole to get my shovel inside it and then shovel the wood coals over to my pit. Here is the pit and drum barrel . Its was cheap to make and will last several decades. Here are some chickens and three pork shoulders . The chickens take me 5 hours and the shoulders take around 10-15 hrs depending on thickness. I use Oak wood and Hickory Wood. Here is the front and back . I rubbed some Neatsfoot Oil on it and it darkened it pretty good. It gave it a nice rustic look i think. I couldn't get the ink pen marks off but I don't care cause its about function , not fashion. BigK , here are the nuts that the screws go into , you can see the front and backs of them . The yarn is from where I have been letting it hang to dry out some after putting the Neatsfoot Oil on it. They are regular machine screws that fit into these things called T-Nuts. They have a threaded protrusion that goes into the leather and sticks out on the other side. They also have spikes that hold them securely into the leather. I'm gonna post a few pictures below of the back side and you'll see them from the front and back . You can get them at Lowes in the hardware section those little drawers that have all kinds of fasteners and such .

I am normally an all leather type of guy but my other Alien Gear holster work so great that I thought I'd try. I put some Neatsfoot oil on it and it's drying now. I'll post a picture tomarrrow when its all soaked in and dry .

I have a pint of 100% real neatsfoot oil . I may do that today. I was gonna do it for sure around the exposed edges where I cut the leather. But Thanks for the idea. I just dont want to soften it too much.

Great choice. I wish I never got rid of mine . All steal and very reliable !

I made a homemade "hybrid" holster from Kydex and leather. I made it to be worn inside the waistband. I used some thick scrap leather and a Kydex shell made to fit a full size 1911. I got some machine screws and T-Nuts and bought a pair of belt clips. It works very well just like my Alien Gear holsters. I just need to go back and get the ink marks off from me marking the leather when I cut it. I am thinking maybe alcohol will get the ink off. I am goig to go back and smooth out the edges some too. Anyways , it fits awesomely and here's a picture of it.

My question is about the brass cases . How was your brass condition ? Any abnormal buldging or anything different from other guns that have supported chambers ? -
My Ruger P-Series pistols are as reliable as my Glocks and even I am a huge Glock fan and still admit it .

Oh heck yeah ! I forgot about them .

Some guy is tearing her up on a local Facebook gun trader page LOL . This is what was written , check this out ............. "Stephanie Ralph guess what bitch? Your stolen valor #### is going famous. Don't pretend to be a disabled vet. We veterans don't like people who lie about war. https://www.facebook.com/missninja82?fref=ts Beware of Stephanie Ralph / Stephanie Ralph-Pinckley After doing some digging, searching online and speaking with people close to Stephanie, it quickly became apparent that she is little more than a seasoned con artist who's suffering from what appears to be some quite serious mental/psychological issues. The fact that DCS allows a child to be in the custody of someone with such obvious issues is deeply disturbing. Stephanie was NEVER in the military. Not even for one day. She was NEVER a combat medic. She is NOT a disabled veteran. She is nothing more than a mentally ill con artist who is smart enough to pull at the heartstrings of the community by pretending to be a disabled veteran. The closest she came to being in the military was her ex-husband who was the real combat medic in the US Army. Stephanie will try to prove that she was in the military by posing in Army shirts and military garb that just about anyone can buy. For all we know, they are items that were left behind by her ex-husband. She cannot provide any actual documentation to prove that she was ever enlisted in the military. She cant, because there is none. This is a blatant case of stolen valor, period. This con artist has made a full-time job out of trolling local Facebook groups, begging for free stuff. She cannot post a single thing on Facebook without making sure everyone knows that she's a disabled veteran (not), a single mother, and having another baby on Christmas day. She is one big walking-talking sob story. Sadly, some of us were gullible to fall for her scam. Please keep an eye out for this woman. Don't fall for her BS. A quick research about her "story" of being in war... yielded a post on PTSD's Facebook page https://m.facebook.com/story.php… Stephanie Ralph "

The S&W Shield and the GLock 43 , both in 9mm would be an awesome start for you and your wife in my opinion. They are both very reliable and fun and easy as can be to carry . Both of these are different than the little Keltec's P3AT and similiar guns. The Shield and Glock 43 can be run and run and run without any ill effects on them. Just like their bigger full size brothers. On the little Keltec's and such they have a limited life and are not built to run 1,000's and 1,000's of rounds . So that's why I would choose the Glock 43 and the S&W Shield in 9mm . That's just my $.02 .

If you had the thought cross your mind that she is being dishonest and lieing then she probably is lieing. I am next to Ft. Campbell and we get all sorts of people scamming and lieing about stuff like this .

Glock factory barrel's effect on brass

You know I have always wanted a G20 and now that I reload , it may be in the very near future  . I could pop a deer with one instead of dragging my old smoke pole around the woods  -

Glock factory barrel's effect on brass
tercel89 replied to tercel89's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Ok cool. I'm only reloading 9mm and 45acp . Maybe later on down the line I'll try .40S&W but for now I'll stick with 9 and 45. I just wanted to make sure my brass would be ok shooting out of the factory barrel with 9 and 45 . -
I can never get a solid opinion in this and heck , I may have asked this before so forgive me if I did. Do you reloaders use your Glock factory barrel when shooting FMJ or plated bullets ? And if so does this seem to damage or shorten the brass cases ? I ask this because of how much of the brass cases are unsupported . I have looked and measured and havent seen much of any bulge at the rear part of the brass. So far I have been shooting my reloads through a few of my Glock barrels and a Lone Wolf barrel that is a 40-9mm conversion barrel. I just want you other reloader's opinion about if the Glock barrels will shorten or weaken the lifespan of the brass. Any information is appreciated and again , sorry if I have asked this before .

We were at Walmart on Ft. Campbell blvd around 430pm. I was getting engine oil. When I walked by the ammo counter there were a large amount of people buying up .22LR . Some of the people didnt look like they knew what a gun was. I figured most of them were "scalpers" buying it to resell it . That is the main reason I sold my .22LR gun. I could never enjoy shooting it not knowing if I would be able to buy ammo for it one month to the next . -
Hickok45 , Colion Noir , Hank Strange , Sootch00, iraqveteran8888 . jiujitsu2000 is really awesome about his reloading videos . He is very down to earth and teaches reloading on videos and makes it very easy to understand .

Well I took the plunge and got a Galco Cop 3 . It cost a bunch but I am a die-hard fan of the Ruger P97 . I'll let you guys know how it works . I have never had any trouble out of Galco , except for the price , HA HA . I looked for an individual leather maker but none said they had the die for the P97 .
