I hear ya . I got to put in some extra hours at my second job to get some extra spening cash .

Yeah , kinda like when the HS2000 came to the U.S. around the late 90's. I remember seeing them for $299. And then Springfield Armory started importing them and raised the price a few hundred dollars to around $440 or so. I hope to snag up one of these TP9 SF's and hopefully soon.

Cool and thanks guys. He isn't going to constantly dry fire it like you would with a Glock practicing and all but I figure I'd ask just to make sure. Since it will be new to him and he will probably be excited I figure he will dry fire it a few times . I'm gonna let him get the cosmoline off the way I usually do by using kerosene and scrubbing it with a toothbrush.

UPDATE : I just found a TP9 SA and was able to handle and fondle it. It wasn't the SF model that I want but it sure gave me some nice idea and on how the SF will be. I gotta tell you guys it was awesome ! The trigger was just great and had a great reset. The fit and finsih looked very nice. It was $359 but was built like it would be a $500 pistol. A few weeks ago I was really wanting to get the Ruger American 9mm but was really let down after trying it out but this Canik TP9 SA is a different story. It is SWEET . The only thing I dont like is the loaded chamber indicator but after looking at it , all I need to do is pop out a rollpin and it should come right out. So all I got to do know is wait patiently until I find the SF model. I didnt even mind the top-sided decocker on this SA model. I am just really impressed with this pistol !

My son has become an A/B student and is about to graduate high school and has been accepted to college and will study to be a history teacher so I am a proud daddy ! So I have given him a few presents and one is a Mosin Nagant M44 . He always liked their ruggedness and simple design . I am asking you guys if dry firing is ok for the Mosins ? I have dry fired a few of mine only to "decock" them . But will it affect or hurt the firing pins or chamber ? His is still covered in cosmoline and well preserved. He will have a time cleaning it LOL . Any information is appreciated !

Yeah the spare parts availability is the only thing I can think of so far as a negative but you only live once .

I rememebr you said you had one . I usually goto Nashville with my wife on a "date" without the kids at least once a month. When we do it next I'll give you a heads up and I'll take you up on your offer to fondle yours ( your gun , not any body parts LOL ) and maybe dry fire it a few at your shop.

Was the Canik at Tn Gun Country new and for sale by them or was it one that someone else had on them ? I didnt thnk Dave carried them normally at his shop .

Be carefull about the stippiling if you plan on carrying it. I hear that it can tear up your skin on your hip depending on what kind of holster you got . But I got to admit that the cuts in tthat slide look amazing !

The only place I have ever seen a Canik in person was Academy Sports. I want to handle it one in person before I buy one. I think Buds carries them too but they are 270 miles away from me :wall:

I have had Pneumonia and just getting over it and then I fall and injured my back. So I have been burning some sick time at home . So while sitting here I have been researching the Canik TP9 SF . WOW , it seems to be pretty nice . I have a few friends who are trust worthy who would not exaggerate who stated that the TP series is pretty nice and very reliable. The new TP9 SF is just like the rest but with no decocker on top of the slide. I am almost ready to take the plunge but one thing seems to be inthe negative: No spare parts anywhere. I know they have a great warranty but when it comes to owning a gun I like to have spare parts available like a Glock and 1911 . Parts to be found almost anywhere. I swear right when I think I have found a great new gun something always pops up negatively ! I had high hopes for the Ruger American 9mm but that was a flop after shooting it . Any of you guys/gals have a Canik TP series ? Have any parts failed or need replacing ?

Yes , post some pictures and how it works if and when you get it done . Who knows , it may give us a thought on doing something simliar !

I mean no disrespect but when you go taking metal off the slide and doing major things like weight reduction it affects the recoil springs weight and so on and so on . If I were you , I would maybe do things such as lighten the trigger and stuff like that myself and leave the slide and frame and such as is or do it yourself . Sometimes these major modifications will affect reliability. Again , I mean no harm nor disrespect . I just like to see a gun run reliable . Plus they may charge you an arm and a leg to do it .

TNWNGR , this is an awesome selection for you ! My wife and me were about to get one but she ended up going with a Honda Accord . I wish she had decided on this Subaru . It's the Crosstrek and it's very reliable and works great ! It has good ground clearance too and would go across the Cumberland City Ferry at the Steam Plant without dragging at all !

You're damn right on the resale value of the Toyota Trucks ! They run and run . Just change the oil and transmission fluid regualrly and you're good to go ! I hate to say it but American vehicles just plain suck and are unreliable . My new car at work issued to me is a 2015 Ford Taurus and at only 5,000 miles it has two major leaks in the transmission that was spraying fluid all over the bottom .

The 2.7 is my favorite Japanese engine  . Want to know my favorite American Engine ? The 1984-1986 Ford SVO Engine the 2.3 Turbo Intercooled . The Ford SVO , in my opinion , was the best Mustang ever ! Sorry to get off topic , I got wrapped up in the moment LOL.

I have the Tacoma 2003 4WD with the 2.7 4CYL . It is bulletproof and proven for several years especially in Africa , South America and here . I prefer the 4 cyclinder over the v6 since reliability seems to be better. If you need more power just put the transfer case into 4-Low and it will pull a tree stump out of the ground . I have pulled several vehicle out of ditches and a few Ford F250's . The Toyota 2.7 liter is tough as nails ! It does use quite a bit of gas . I average only 18 MPG .

I believed you told me once that you worked where I do now so you know how crappy American cars can be especially the Fords we use here. I am a hobby mechanic and have been for over 30 years and all I have are Japanese . Just look at my user name here , it's the name of one of the most reliable cars of all time by Toyota. I recommend the Subaru . Especially since it's engine is longitudinal and not Transverse (sideways like most fornt wheel drives). The Longitudinal engines are traditional positioned and have more room to work on them if need be and the transmission is behind them like old school traditional ones. I say go with the Subaru . Before you buy just check the engine oil and transmission fluid . Check to see if it smokes or burns oil when you start it up . Take your time and dont get in a hurry .

Ruger LCR Revolver in .22LR . Its their ploymer revolver and its a 8 shot . Its fun ! The only reason I sold mine was becuase of the many selfish dumbasses who buy up and hoard all the .22LR ammo and the other dumbasses who buy it all up and sell it for three times as much . I could never find a decent amount of .22LR and still cant so I gave up . I now load my own 9mm and 45 ammo and loving it . Ok rant over , LOl . But seriously the Ruger LCR in 22Lr is awesome !

I'm gonna try to get the Canik TP9 SF . It seems to be a great value and has great reviews.

I would love to but most of those idiots end up upside down in the ditch. The first day of the snow I put over 95 miles on my car from 7am till 7pm no problem , just go slow and take your time. One crash I worked where a car flipped , the guy had the nerve to tell me that it wasn't his fault because he knows how to drive in snow because he was from Michigan. He said it was the other car in front of him's fault cause he slowed down too quick. I just shook my head and kept my thoughts to myself . People tailgating in ice and snow is rediculous !

Remember that transporting Coors beer east of the Mississippi is bootlegging . :biglol:

I was just thinking about maybe putting a trace of glue up in there just in case it ever did pop loose.

I have a S&W M&P fullsize and it doesn NOT have the external thumb safety. As most of you guys know S&W puts in a plug of a sort in place of the external thumb safety. Until just now I thought this was just a marking from the mold when they make the ploymer frames . But I just read on another forum that this little suqare shaped frame filler is detachable and has came off on one guy while he was shooting his M&P . Supposedly when it came off it got jammed up inside the rear inner workings of his M&P and made it stop shooting. Like I said I thought that the M&P's that did not have the external safety just had this area filled in with polymer. But apparently this squared off portion is a plug that can come out. I looked at mine and mine must be in there pretty tight cause it wouldnt budge. Mine is fitted nice and snug and there is no gap in it at all. Do any of you guys know for sure that this "plug" is removable or is this just bull crap ?
