  1. I'd get the Glock 17 . It is Gaston's first and works like a well oiled sewing machine. I have 3 and they run and run and run . They aren't much bigger than the 19 . Having a well running gun like the 17 with 17 rds available and 1 in the chamber is an awesome feeling.
  2. Yeah but it's more complex. The Glock is nice and simple with very few parts .
  3. Yeah almost too lean for it . I know some people use beef fat or pork fat and cover the deer with it to keep it moist but I was trying to keep it strictly all deer.
  4. It was real good. Kinda like roast beef. It was a little dry , but I figured it would be . I sliced some up for supper and poured some white gravy over it with some roasted potatoes. It was a great supper .
  5. I finally put my rear deer leg on my BBQ pit today.I shot this deer last November and butchered all the meat and left this leg intact and froze it. I rubbed it down with my homemade rub and let it set for 2 days. I made my own pit the old school way where I burn wood in a barrel and shovel the wood coals to my pit which is a pit made of concrete blocks and a metal grate. I use old plywood for the roof and the front door . I have cooked on it for around 4 years now and I am always learning. Here are some pictures of the leg before when it was raw , then with rub , and then done with some slices from it . I don't think I could ever "pull" it like I do my normal pork when I cook it on here .
  6. I have had a lot of CZ's and the 9mm's seems to run FLAWLESSLY . The 40 calibers seem to be not so reliable. CZ's seem to be made for the 9mm and that's why I always choose a 9mm when I buy a CZ . Plus I reload 9mm so it's a win win situation with me . I had a CZ SP01 all steel and it was an AWESOME piece of metal !!!!! Even with it all stock it would shoot better than I could anyday !
  7. Not to get off subject and I apologize , but we use cast iron quite a bit now and it's great. But we have got to where we only buy new for this reason : I have read and even thought of this myself of casting bullets and melting lead in cast iron pans . I started reloading a few years ago and that's about when my wife and me started cooking strictly from good ole fashioned cast iron . After that thought , we have decided to buy only new cast iron. I don't want to risk the chance of getting a pan to cook with that was used to melt lead. But if we ever find an old one that we knew was used for food , we would definitely buy it to cook with .
  8. Every so often , the Lodge Store has good sells on their "seconds" that have blemishes and scratches. My wife and me got a Lodge cast iron pan 15 inches wide and 3 inches deep for $12 . It's awesome. We have used it enough to where it's seasoned extremely well .
  9. I always wondered what one would look like with flat black paint
  10. I only watched it about 20 seconds into it . I am not one to get offended easily but this was really bad . This newer generation of people have no morals and no respect. This is pretty much using the September 11, 2001 attack as advertisement "pitch" . Any person , I swear should understand that ! I guess these morons don't. Very disrespectful , Very bad !
  11. What type of recoil spring assembly does it have ?
  12. No offense meant , The reason I said that is because I am just a Glock gen 1,2 and 3 purist I guess. To me Glock's most important things were simplicity , reliability, and few parts. When Glock started adding extra parts such as the dual recoil-spring it was becoming more complicated in my opinion. The dual slide-stop in the 17M is another thing. The one thing I did like about the 17M was that it only has 2 pins like the Gen 1 and 2 17's and 19's .
  13. SPARE TIRE ! I don't care what you want to have but I would make room for a spare tire. There is no excuse for not having one. You will use a spare tire before any gun , first-aid kit or anything else. My friend has a high performace sports car and wont keep his spare tire in it because he wants to save weight. One day when he gets a flat I think telling him "I told you so" will be bitter sweet .
  14. For the love of God , I don't know why Glock doesn't just remake the Gen 2 G17 . Here's mine. In my opinion it's the best Generation and model of Glock ever . It has no finger grooves , it has the front portion of the grip cut out for easy magazine removal and most important , it has the original Glock recoil system and is proven and reliable without that STUPID double recoil spring that has caused some problems. Here's my carry G17 Gen 2. It's got around 20,000 rds through it , wear and tear and nicks and scratches and it's damn sexy . Nice and simple 2-pin Glock 17 . FUNCTION over FASHION.
  15. Don't give the Govt any ideas.

    Ruger or S&W

Ruger is heavy but will last till the good Lord comes back. I pick the Ruger SP101 or GP100. If I had to carry one continuously I'd pick the Ruger LCR in 357mag.
  17. That is a great description of them : an SUV without the enclosed cargo area. I have never thought of that .
  18. I have tried to like the red dot thing but I cant seem to like it. My carry pistols are Glocks and 1911's . I have gotten to where I just want my carry gun as simple as possible with no switches and knobs and such. I carry a G22 on duty as my sidearm at my job and my patrol rifle uses regular Iron Sights . I just like things simple. No batteries , no distractions , just there all the time when you need it with no batteries. I almost got a red dot sight system on my personal rifle but I backed out .I tried shooting it with red dot , but I have been shooting for over 25 years and I cant get my eyes used to it. I guess I am just old school.
  19. To al the Honda Ridgeline owners , what are the pros and cons of these "cars with a bed" LOL . I am kinda old school but I do own a Japanese truck and cars. I am a pretty good mechanic and have did all kinds of work from to transmission replacement to engine placement and anywhere in between as long as I have the tools I can do it. I have been looking at the Honda Ridgeline. It is marketed as a truck but has a transverse engine AKA sideways engine like regular front wheel drive cars. This is a con for me . Regular maintenance is a #itch when doing belts and even timing belts and chains in a transverse engine. The other bad thing in my opinion is it is a "unit-body" and has no frame like regular trucks. I know that Honda says its all this and all that , but I like traditional frames on trucks. Don't get me wrong , I own a Honda right now , and have others in the past. They are great , but I just can't get myself to like this . What are your thoughts ? And I am sorry to bore you other guys with a car thread. It's raining and I am stuck inside the house with my dog LOL .
  20. I DIDNT have to "ditch" the AC , its a 16 year old car and the cost of new AC would be worth more than the car. So that's why I made this post just explaining all the room that got cleared up under the hood and around the engine from the wires , pipes and plumbing. I wouldn't do it with a newer one , just older ones like this.
  21. Wading and fishing in Caney Fork River is awesome . I've fished that river wading and in a canoe for around 5 years now and I love it .
  22. Right before the crappy rain started my little girl caught these Bluegill and Sunfish in Dover Tn not too far from your location. There was enough meat after cleaning them to fill up a whole gallon freezer bag ! I was busy baiting the hook the whole time that I hardly had time to fish. Those Bluegill and Sunfish add up fast and most people over look them. Plus the fun of watching your little girl catch fish is AWESOME .
  23. Glock is getting OUT of a category that made them reliable and famous . That category is SIMPLICITY. If they add more parts then they will face more problems in my thinking. I liked them for the fact that they were so simple. I just got rid of my G17 Gen 4 for a G19 Gen 3 . I think I did well . I like the fact that I can swap parts from Gen 3 to Gen 2 and 1 . I sure hope Glock doesn't go down the drain like the rest . I do like how the front part of the slide is chiseled out or beveled. Other than that , I don't understand why people want Glock to change or want something different . The new 43 is great and all but I just don't like the addition of a multi-spring recoil assembly. I like to keep things simple and low tech .
  24. There's no thread hijacking here , I like all Subaru's , Hondas and Toyotas .
  25. I have used Fram on this Mazda since 2000 when it was new and it now has 252,000 miles on it and does not burn any oil . I think it will be good .
