I got a bunch of deer meat and beef left in my freezer from last year. I have been real carefull not to eat it all up and now I have a huge supply and can enjoy it since hunting season is here. I always make jerky out of the shoulders and other tough cut of meat since I like it tough and chewy . I use a dehydrator but I was wondering if any of you guys cure it and dry it the old fashioned way by hanging it outdoors ? I make my own cure with salt and spices but I just would like to see if anyone dries it outdoors here in Tennessee . Would the regular salt and spiced be enough to fend off the bugs and flies while it dries ?

When I get around 3 or 4 I boil them in hot water with salt and seasoning until the meat is cooked. I then take them out and pick the meat off. Then I take a can of campbells cream of chicken soup. Mix it with some potatoes , and celery and carrots and lima beans and mix the meat up in this mix. Then put it all into a pie crust. The take another pie crust and put it over the mix of what you got and pinch it togather on the ends. and bake for around 30 minutes on 350 degrees. Then you got an awesome squirrel pot pie !

I don't watch balls games but this is pretty un-American of these players. When I heard of this yesterday, an old song by Merle Haggard came to mind. Like when he says " when you're running down our country , man , you're walking on the fighting side of me"

I liked the rotating barrels on my Beretta Cougars. The recoil seemed a bit softer than the 92. I used grease instead of oil on the barrel "lug" and the locking block. Worked great for me. The barrel staying horizontal , like the Beretta 92 , is very nice and aids in feeding ammo better than having to use a ramp. I'd like to see a complete detail strip down of this . It's got my interest for sure.

Yeah , I cant help it . It's just a quirk I have and I'm OCD. I love the old Ruger P-Series but they have the same thing to where you have to remove the rear sight for a complete slide disassembly. I used to have the same thing with roll pins but I am slowly getting over that , ha ha. I just like to have a gun that I can completely disassemble with no tools other than a nail , punch or something simple just like the Glock. Its just a quirk of mine and so far Glock fills that need. I still like these M&P's though.

Man , these M&P's are a love/hate thing with me. I love the way they feel but I just hate the fact that you have to remove the rear sight to detail strip the slide. Glock has spoiled me I guess. But the M&P feels sssooooo nice. I know that function is always more important than fashion but the M&P's look great. Looking at the new Glock gen 5 and what has been done to it and this M&P , I'm gonna swallow my pride and say I'd rather buy the M&P .

I was on night shift back then on patrol. I remember after Bush ordered no flights , I was on patrol out where there were no street lights. I got out of my car and looked up and it was so weird to not see any aircraft lights at all in the night sky. Also it was cool to see an Apache and a Kiowa both taking turns hovering over the gates of Ft. Campbell . I was eating at Arbys right near gate 4 and was watching them go back and forth. Those next days I brought extra ammo and extra guns to what I already carried. I thought for sure that Ft. Campbell would get hit but thank God it didn't. Our city is right there with Ft. Campbell.

I don't like this guy because he is annoying and his video of the Beretta APX disassembly was jus stupid and he made a big deal over nothing. But ,,,,,, I agree with him on this video of the Gen 5 Glock.

Yeah man , it's a darn good coating or whatever they call it . I have thrown , and I mean thrown this gun into my truck tool box and into my floor board a lot and still no scratches. This Glock 30 was made in 2000 so that's 17 years old and look how new it looks. I have a G21 made in 2008 with the same "frying pan" finish so Glock made this at least from 2000 to 2008. My Gen 2's have the original mat finish that scratches easily but I don't care since they don't rust.

Here's my old G30 . It has the "frying pan" finish over the Tenifer metal treatment. It is old and been used a lot and looks great . Look at the upclose pictures and see how the texture looks porous. This is the "frying pan" finish that most Glock guys look for .

I am not sure if the Gen 4 's had this finish. I don't think so but it could be .

The "frying pan" finish looks just like a Teflon coating on a frying pan. Some people say when you look at it under a magnifying glass it looks like the texture of an orange peel. But it is extremely durable and resists scratches very well. Even if a bad scratch happens , the Tenifer treatment under it in the metal will still keep it from rusting. I'll try and post an up-close picture of it .

I agree 100% . I have decided to only buy Gen 1,2, and 3 . I tried the Gen 4 and didn't like them plus I had a Gen 4 26 and it developed spot rust on it. In my 23 years of owning Glocks . I have never had one rust. So that out a terrible taste in my mouth for the gen 4 's. And I was real excited about the Gen 5's but I just don't see a need to make a different shaped firing pin and use a coil spring instead of the original leaf spring on the slide lock. I do like he fact that the Gen 5 is a 2-pin gun. The 1,2,and 3 Gens never gave me any trouble so that's why I like them so much. I am anxious to see how this new metal treatment and/or finish will hold up. My old Gen 2's and 3's have the original Tenifer treatment and you cant beat that ! Plus my Gen 3's have the "frying pan" finish on top of the Tenifer treatment. Those frying pan finishes will hold up to just about anything.

You know I was wondering if they were counting the flared bottom. If they were , surely the middle part where your hand goes is thinner .

So a Gen 5 19 is thicker than a 21 ? This is weird .

The Gen 2 models were the best of Glock . The definition of perfection in the world of semi-automatic pistols in my opinion. The Gen 3 was slightly under the Gen 2 but still great. But gen 4 was a definite downhill slide and who knows with the Gen 5. Thanks God I still have 2 of the Gen 2 Glocks. My 17 and 21 are great . They have never failed and never rusted even though both have scratches and gouges in them. No finger grooves and my 17 is the original 2 pin style. I am a big believer in "if it aint broke don't fix it" . I guess enough whiny babies cried and wanted fingers grooves , grip inserts , loaded chamber indicators , and now a flared magazines well , new shaped/designed striker , different recoils spring assembly , new style slide lock spring instead of "leaf style spring that worked all these years , blah blah blah . Ok my rant is over . So I'll post a picture of my Gen 2's for some eye candy

I love old Marlin lever guns and when Marlin got bought by the Freedom Group and Remington , the first thing that everyone noticed was the front sights were canted badly to one side. Then other problems popped up like the tubular magazines were crooked real bad and some seemed twisted. So hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come from Glock.

Hopefully they didn't rush with anything else on this gun. With the striker/firing pin being round instead of oval , and several other things , I'll wait at least a year before getting this Generation 5. I have a Gen 2 17 and a Gen 2 21 so that's enough to get my "no finger groove jollies" satisfied . The Generation 2 and 3 was never "broke" so I don't understand why Glock went on with the Gen 4 other than the grip inserts.

Mrgunsngear posted how he got his new Gen 5 and the rear sights were installed badly way over to one side. I also seen another person who had the same thing. Here's a picture of Mrgunsngear new Gen 5 and the rear sights. I know that Glock has kinda went down in quality but I sure hope they don't keep going down. This isn't very positive.
