  1. Just saw that the Beretta APX now has a no finger grove option in their different colored frames. $50 just like the regular colored frames with the finger groves. I have the gray frame with the finger groves but it's nice to know that Beretta is offering this. I'll try to post a link. http://www.berettausa.com/en-us/beretta-grip-no-fingers-with-3-backstraps-for-apx/e02048/
  2. Clarksville police switching from Glock 22 to the Gen 5 Glock 17 this month or the next . Was supposed to be in November but it got backed up.
  3. Sounds good to me. Good guns but I couldn't always get the web of my hand to engage that grip safety.
  4. Dime size groups at around 50 feet or so is what I'd like to get it at. I figure that's good enough to harvest some and teach my little girl too.
  5. It is drilled and tapped and has the holes ready for a scope .
  6. I have my sons older Marlin 915Y single shot .22lr and I want to put a scope on it for squirrels. I want a reliable scope but nothing to break my bank account. The open sights just aren't getting me anywhere. My daughter is 10 now and I'm trying to teach her hunting and we are trying to shoot some tree rats. She and I love to eat them. Any help is appreciated.
  7. The 19 fits almost every job plus it's easy to sell if need be. I like the 17 better but I keep a Gen 3 19 around just incase I see something I want. I can sell the 19 pretty easy to get funds for a newer gun if need arises.
  8. No problem. I was interested myself a few months ago before the rebates started and it felt great in my hand but then I searched and found all the malfunctions. I will say this , after I decided not to get this , I looked at the Beretta APX. WOW , it turned out to be the totally opposite. There are lots of positives and all kinds of videos shooting it with great results. The only negatives was that some people don't like the looks of its slide serrations. But it functions great as a Glock 17 would. I bought an APX and its now my carry gun .
  9. There are a lot of people that have had problems with them. Several videos. If you find one that works then that's great for that amount of money but I wouldn't want to take the chance.
  10. The notched grip and magazine base-pads look just like my Beretta APX. Plus this Masada has the removable fire control system like the APX. I know that Beretta has made the APX extremely reliable. Hopefully this is too. I attached a picture of my APX where the grip meets the magazine. Look at it compared to the Masada in the video at the 1:03 mark . They look very similar. Both seemed to have the flared magazines bases on their sides to grab them better.
  11. I had a 1895 Marlin in 45/70 . Should have kept it . It was a beast .
  12. This is my Grandaddy's Kessler Westchester 12 gauge bolt action shot gun with a 2 rd detachable magazine. It is marked "Buffalo Bill Cody" edition. If I remember correctly I think Sears or Montgomery Wards made them. It is at least 55 years old. When I was 8 years old I remember my Granddaddy shot one shell at a flock of blackbirds. I saw 8 fall dead. I didn't realize how a shotgun worked at that time and I thought he and that gun were magical to get 8 birds with one shot. He died when I was 15 so I got his shotgun and kept it just the way he had it , even with the old electrical tape around the forearm.
  13. I pick Glock for it's simplicity and the fact that I can detail strip it with a simple nail or punch or anything like a pencil. Parts can be found several places and a gunsmith is not needed. I can do my own repairs to it if needed in the field with no special tools. I like other pistols like the CZ and such but they have a gazillion parts and springs and need special tools to repair .
  14. For right now I say the Glock 17 and Glock 19. They have the fewest parts and extremely reliable. They will always be my favorite and most reliable pistols. Now I got the new Beretta APX a few months ago. It has proven to be extremely reliable and will eat any ammo I give it. And rumors says it will have a compact soon.
  15. I've worked a lot of deer crashes. I'd take yours any day from the ones I've seen. At least yours is just cosmetic and didn't involve the truck being disabled. I hate it for ya though.
  16. Where I hunt its very thick and wooded. I don't have a long ways to shoot or to see a deer through a scope. The longest straight-away I have to see a deer and shoot it is around 100 feet. Therefore I use a shotgun with open sights/bead. I use a slug. I been doing this the last 3 seasons and all the deer I shot have only ran about 30 feet at the most and dropped. Do any of you guys/gals use a shotgun and if so why ? Is it cuase you like shotgun or is it out of need for the area you hunt in like me ?
  17. Johnathan at our graduation in 1997 . My Mom took this picture of him when we were both graduating.
  18. Thanks ! He was a good dude . I'm sure he's in heaven .
  19. Yeah , he of all people should know that danger exits when going to meet someone about things like this. Especially after dark. Beats the crap outta me.
  20. I grew up with the victim. From Elementry school to high school. We both went to the police academy in Donaldson together back in 97 . He worked with me on my department and then moved to another. I just don't see why he went by himself especially at night to sell a car. Hopefully more information will come out and the bad guys found.
  21. I just don't care for the Sigs. The S&W M&P series is good and has a great grip but I don't like the hinged trigger. The Glock is good but I don't like how the Gen 5 went to a coil spring on the slide lock and the slide stop . I'd rather have the older leaf-spring style springs. I will say that the Beretta APX has really surprised me. I bought one earlier in the year and its ran great. the feel and function is awesome. For some reason this pistol seems to be not so popular . I hear people talking about the M&P 2.0 , the Sig P320 and the Gen 5 Glock but no one talks about the APX. But in almost every gun review on the Beretta APX , it runs extremely well and never fails. I guess people cant get past the looks , but I'd be happy to have it as a duty pistol and that's saying a lot coming from a long time Glock owner.
  22. My workplace is going from Glock 22's to Glock 17's starting next month. Not sure if it will be Gen 4 or Gen 5 but they are staying with Glock.
  23. Just trying to do it more natural than my old dehydrator. But it'll do
  24. Alton Brown is one of my wife's and me favorite food chefs. I'll watch that thread. I was just trying to make it a different way or the old way . I know that out west it's really dry and hot which would be great but in Tennessee we only have humid weather.
