Here's the Gen 5 17 next to a Gen 2 17 made in the early 1990's. Both 2-pin Glocks but I'd always take the Gen 2 anyday.

What is your favorite handgun of 2017 ? Not the most selling one , not the most innovative , just your favorite and why its your favorite . There seems to be a lot of new pistols coming out and there seems to be no restrictions and no bans on the horizon , knock on wood, so these are kinda neat times in my opinion. The one that is my favorite is the Beretta APX in 9mm. I got it early in the year and it has ran like a well oiled sewing machine. Eats my reloads and factory ammo like candy. It's removable fire control system is very simple and not complicated. It may not look nice but it has proven reliable . Very , very reliable from almost all reviews. So what's your favorite handgun of 2017 and why ?

Speer Gold dot 147 grain

What makes me wonder about this is how thin the rails look like on this new gun. The P-Series and the Beretta 92/M9 are way thicker. But then again , Ruger made the P-95 and P-97 with polymer/fiberglass frame rails (no metal at all) and they are still going strong on mine and several others even today !
-
That's what I was wondering too . Sounds weird but their old P-Series frames were cast aluminum and they were tougher than anything I ever seen.

There is no snow or ice in the forecast for the next 7 days yet there is salt brine laid down everywhere. We went driving through Clarksville , Dickson, Franklin , and Nashville today. Every major highway and interstate we went on were salted. Am I missing something here or does TDOT know something that we don't ? In the earlier days there was the thing called "use it or lose it" where if you don't use what you have in storage you wont get it next year , but I think that's a thing of the past.
-
I meant it half way as a joke , but those P-Series are great for experimenting with different loads when you reload your own ammo. They will take a good beating from heavy loaded ammo and still run fine.
-
Screw this new junk and bring out a short run of brand new P-Series P89's I'd be in line to buy 3 !!!!! They are big and chunky but they are reliable as a Glock 17 gen 2. I bet they'd sell more than they could imagine.

Then his should be beveled . His pistol is in the same batch as mine.

Does he work for CPD ?

The few people I heard the other day didn't seem to care either way. A few of my friends were happy like me. I'm buying my old G22 and have the extractor , spring loaded bearing , ejector , and conversion barrel to make it shoot 9mm.
-
Yep its now Gen 5 G17 9mm.
-
Aluminum chassis , so looks like it may have a removable fire control system like the Beretta APX . Maybe that means a smaller frame will come next to drop the chassis inside of ?
-
I saw a Gen 5 19 and 17 today at Guns And Leather and both had the "unbeveled" frames. So I guess Glock is slowly making the new frames beveled now. It doesn't make any difference to me but I read a lot people raising cain about it when they first came out. The youtube guy Yankee Marshal was complaining about it on his video too. I don't care one way or the other. I have to carry this at work no matter what , but my personal carry will always be my Gen 2 and Gen 3

Just got my new duty gun today and its a Gen 5 G17. I heard that the frames weren't beveled to match the slide but mine is . Here's a picture. Did Glock start doing them ? Or was this "not beveling" only the G19 ?

Looks great. I always wanted to try leather but I have so many other hobbies.

WOW , do you sew and stitch leather ?
-
Numrich or beretta would be the first I'd try

reloading .40S&W very lightly in a Glock ?
tercel89 replied to tercel89's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Yeah , the G22 will shoot and function with the Lonewolf 40-9mm conversion barrel . So if it will shoot my light loaded bunny fart 9mm rounds then I don't see why it wouldn't shoot and cycle light loaded .40 rounds. I guess to make things even more safer would be to buy some new never shot .40 brass. -
Is it possible to reload .40S&W to where it's very lightly loaded and have it function in a Glock 22 ? The reason I ask is because I can take my Lonewolf conversion barrel that converts .40 to 9mm and put it in my Glock 22 (.40) and shoot 9mm. It functions just fine with ONLY putting the conversion barrel in. Even with the original recoil springs , extractors and all. So this makes me think that if I reload some .40S&W rounds to where they are lightly loaded like plinking rounds , that they would cycle the gun and run correctly. I hear and read about how the .40S&W cartridge is very high pressure and that they don't have much "wiggle room" . Well why wouldn't they cycle and function correctly in a Glock 22 if the same Glock 22 runs light loaded 9mm's with only adding a conversion barrel ? What are you guys thoughts ? I have only been reloading around 2 years or so , so I am still learning at this point. What you guys think ?

Thanks for the help guys. I found what I was looking for . Rural King had a hard plastic heating pad with heating elements built into the plastic platform. It fits right on the floor of his dog house and stays as warm . It has a cover that goes on it and I put additional bath towels on it too. The first 4 feet of the cord has a coil of metal around it to protect it from chewing dogs.

I have an inside dog and an outside dog. My outside dog is getting up there in age and I am trying to get opinions and ideas on an electric blanket or heat lamp. I think a blanket would be better cause I'd hate the light to fall down or break and set his house or straw on fire. Do you guys have a pet electric blanket and if so which one do you recommend ? In my town we have a Petco , PetSmart , Co-OP , Rural King , and a Tractor supply company TSC . I am sure those stores have one or the other but I am just trying to get good opinions and ideas.

I had the Beretta Cougar in 9mm. I loved it . I did the decock only modification. No parts needed , you just take out a spring and plunger. Best mod I ever did . I just don't like the .40S&W cartridge.

Good gun , but the weird thing about them are that the grip safety must be engaged to retract the slide back. I noticed this when I had my XD9 . I was cleaning it and went to take it apart and had to grip the gun to take the slide off. It would not slide rearward without having the grip safety pushed inwards. I guess I'm spoiled by Glocks. The darn grip safety gets in my way of shooting it AND disassembling it. IF that thing was gone , I'd get another.

I love the way mine is , the finger groves aren't very pronounced at all. The only thing I like and don't like are the same thing : Its the texture on the sides of the grip inserts. They keep your grip firm and have great traction for shooting but it kinda rubs me when I carry my APX under my shirt without a another shirt under it to provide a cushion. I may take some sandpaper and smooth it out. I have the Gray colored frame on mine and sill have the black colored frame. I may practice sanding the black frame. It may turn out great.
