  1. I say fry him and "don't wet the sponge"
  2. Glock 26 (9mm) or Glock 30 (45acp). Both are proven ultra reliable , they have fewer parts than other pistols , they can be taken apart COMPLETELY without any special tools , and they can both use larger magazines of their bigger brothers.
  3. Found a video of it being detail stripped. It's interesting and seems more simple and better than the Ruger American .
  4. I was able to buy my old duty gun because we switched over to Gen 5 G17 in 9mm. This may be a regular old Glock 22 but it saved my life in March 15, 2012. I was able to pick it up today and its now all mine. I wont go into all the detail but when I needed it to fire it did. I was holding it with one hand and standing quite awkward. So for it to run when I needed it to , it shined. I got an Alpha Wolf 40-9mm conversion barrel and even a Glock 17 extractor , and the correct spring and plunger for it to be converted to 9mm. I'll still switch it back over to .40S&W to shoot some here and there but mainly 9mm through it.
  5. Yeah , I got real lucky with my Beretta APX. It's been great. It eats my reloads and factory loads. The only other new pistol I bought when it first came out was the CZ P-07. It was a lemon for sure. The frame was bowing and was warped and the trigger would not always reset itself. CZ sent me a brand new gun so I cant complain but yeah , I tend to wait until new guns get out for a while. That's why I've waited and been reading and such. I had my hands on 4 different Security 9's and they seem pretty well made. The only thing negative I can say is the trigger resets when it's almost all the way forward kinda like the P-Series did. But hey , at $300 it's still a good deal.
  6. Well some guy on another forum said his Security 9 had one of its pins walk out on him twice. He contacted Ruger and Ruger is sending him a mailing order to get it back. I'll post what ends up happening. Hopefully this is an isolated incident.
  7. Just seeing if any TGO members have bought one yet ? When my income tax return money comes in and if there hasn't been any bad problems crop up , Ill get one. I did this last year on the Beretta APX. I got lucky cause its a very reliable pistol and it eats all kinda of ammo. Hopefully this Ruger will be the same. I'm hoping it will be the "Ruger P95" of 2018. Any of you Ruger guys knows what I mean. The P95's were very affordable yet fat and blocky but they ran and ran and ran.
  8. Here's an exploded view of the security 9 . It doesn't look very complicated. I am liking it more everyday. Scroll down a few pages and you'll see it. security9.pdf
  9. I hear ya ! I been married for 2 decades now and I know what ya mean .
  10. What is the reason for the barrel to be shaped the way it is towards the end ? I remember that S&W did this on an older 915 that I had and some of the 5900 series pistols too. Some one may have mentioned it but I cant seem to find the reason. Here's some pictures of a S&W 915 that has the same type of barrel .
  11. I got to handle 2 different Security 9's today at two different gun shops. I am very surprised and like it way better than I thought. It is way more simpler in design than the Ruger American Pistol. Both shops had them for $329 . At that price I am excited and willing to wait a few months to see if recalls or problems will crop up. If none then I'll probably get one. This pistol , in my opinion will definitely be a hit if it performs reliably. The trigger reset was a bit long but for a $329 gun and a great customer service like Ruger has , its worth it . I did see the small rectangular hammer when I dry fired it. I don't like manual safeties but I could ignore the one on this gun. It will fire with no mag so that's a plus. I hope all turns out very reliably for it. I took a chance on the new Beretta APX last year and it turned out to be an extremely reliable and fun pistol. I sure hope this Security 9 ends up the same way. If so the in 2 months I may grab one.
  12. Will its magazines fit other Rugers or will it have special magazines just for them ?
  13. I watched a video and the trigger reset looked to be really long. The guy had to release the trigger almost all the way before it reset. Can anyone verify this ?
  14. Dude there are so many people complaining about the front cut out part but you never her anyone complain about them on the Gen 1,2, or even 3 . My Glock 22 Gen 3 that this new Gen 5 replaced even had the cut out and it has never bothered me nor does any of my Gen 2 Glocks. I like the cut out. I never had to use them on my Gen 2 or 3 but it's nice to know I can grip it front to back if I need to. Especially when working in dirty conditions.
  15. Yeah they did . Here's my thread I made a few weeks ago. We got our newly issued Glock 17's at work and mines got the frame and slide beveled. Here's the thread and picture of mine. https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/105584-gen-5-glock-17-frame-is-bevelled/
  16. Oh and the grip without anything on it should be smaller than the standard 26 . That's another plus for me.
  17. The only 2 good things I see is no finger grooves and it's a 2-pin frame. I like Glock a bunch but when they made the Gen 5 I was concerned. The Gen 5 17 , 19 , and now 26 all have coiled springs for the slide lock and slide stop. The older leaf-spring style was working great since the 80's. I been carrying one since 95 and one at work since 97. They have never failed. I just don't understand why change something if it is working great the way it is. I do like the fact that Glock went back to the 2-pin style frames. less parts , less to go wrong. But this coiled spring is kinda messed up in my opinion. I am kinda anal and set in my ways but like I said before , why "fix" it if it aint broke ? I guess something to "bring in new customers and make it look new and exciting" . Ok , I'll stop my rant .
  18. I use 20W50 . Its thick but still more runnier than grease. I only use grease on my AR15 bolt and carrier. Sometimes I will use grease on my Beretta Cougar's rotating barrel locking block where the lug from the barrels goes into the channel on the locking block. Same with the Beretta PX4 .
  19. Engine oil . I keep it simple. For 24 years my handguns , shotguns , and rifles have been lubed with engine oil. If you want something else I say Ballistol. On semi-auto rifles like AR's I use wheel bearing grease on the slide points and engine oil on the bolt and small parts.

    M P 2.0 9C

Nah , I don't agree with a that all the way. A Glock in 9mm Gen 1, 2, and 3 will run way past 100,000 rds . But some guns like Keltec seem to have a limited lifespan .
  21. Man , I gotta tell ya that I'd snatch up a M&P 2.0 in 45 or 9mm if they would change how the rear sight holds in the striker safety assembly . I just hate removing the rear sight to detail strip a gun. Other than that , it's pretty nice and it feels the best , even better than my Beretta APX which is pretty darn comfortable.
  22. yep , you cant improve on them anymore. They eat and eat 9mm ammo of any type My M9 is as reliable as my old Gen 2 Glock 17 .
  23. MSRP is $599 and I know that gun shops will sell them under that but I'm not paying anything over $400 for a .380 unless its a Glock 25 or 28 .
  24. Is this made in USA ?
