  1. Have you of you guys that has seen a Gen 5 G26 noticed the slide stamping ? It has "Gen.5" on it . I know its a small detail but I wonder why it includes the "." after Gen ? Technically that is correct since its an abbreviation for "Generation" but the other Gen 5's like the 34 , 17 and 19 don't have it. Here's a picture of mine up close.
  2. Glock 26. It can use its flush fitting 10 rd magazine , the 17 rd G17 mag , the 15 rd G19 mag , and the 33rd G18 mag. The Glock 26 is my most carried and versatile Glock.
  3. I forgot to ad the Ruger SP101 and GP100. But those go without saying.
  4. Well I have reached the point of what I "need" or , LOL , what I want , in handguns. I have the Glock platform , the 1911 , and the Beretta M9 . I am to where I see what I want. And "want" is not needed. For some crazy reason I cant explain , I want the Springfield XD9 Mod2 Gray frame and the Stoeger Cougar in 45 ACP . I don't know why I keep going back to these 2 . I have been beating myself over and over for the last few months. The Stoeger isn't made anymore and doesn't have parts made for it for sale . That's a big minus ! The S.A. doesn't have parts readily available like Glock or Beretta to where I could just go pick up a part on the spare of the moment. I like them both . I have had the Cougar and it was great . I haven't had the S.A. XD9 Mod2. I have had the XD9 Service but not the Mod2. Anyways , just thinking outloud . Maybe this discussion will benefit someone ?
  5. Thanks guys , I ended up going with Winchester 230gr JHP . They were $33 per 50rds. I couldn't beat that. I am going to still look more into the Speer Gold Dots , The Federal Guard Dog , and Federal HST. They all seem very good. I carry a Glock 30 , 21 and a 1911 all in 45 so I may carry a different one in each of them. The 21 and 30 aren't picky so I'm sure they'll run in them. My 1911 hasn't ever failed with any ammo but I'll run a few of each in it "just in case" . Its a plain jane Springfield fullsize but it eats ammo very well. Thanks all for the help !
  6. No , I am not talking about any of that. I am saying that I believe that kids announcing that they will be walking out of class all over the US will be making them more vulnerable for some idiot who wants to do the same thing as the other shooter did.
  7. I have been hearing that students all over the US are scheduling a "walk out" on March 14th for gun control laws the same time in the morning as the school shooting happened. To me this is very dangerous. I can see some idiot with a gun just waiting across the street from a school for all the students to walk out and then bang bang bang . Here we go again ! These protesting students and others just don't seem to have common sense . It seems that I made a few members here mad when I posted this. I posted this purely stating that in MY OPINION it is dangerous and makes them easy targets by them walking outside in front of all these schools . No harm was meant. I respect their 1st Amendment and all but I am looking at the safety of these of kids and people doing this.
  8. To be honest , I carried 45acp like that for a long time . Only in 45 since its so slow and big plus it feeds so reliably.
  9. I saw some Winchester 230 JHP at Walmart at $33 for 50 rds . Seems like the best value so far. Anyone here use them ?
  10. I am almost in the state of mind to where I think any big name brand like Hornady , Speer , and Federal will be good .
  11. I was looking at Hornady XTP but they are a "plus P " round. You think that extra +P will do any damage or premature wear ? I know Glocks are strong and so are 1911's but I am a worrier.
  12. What are you guys carrying that feeds great and is reliable in 45ACP in 230 grains ? I am talking about carry ammunition and not range stuff. I reload but I keep hearing that people should carry factory ammo for "liability" and all. I will be carrying this ammo in a Glock 30 , 21 , and a 1911 .
  13. Glock 26 can use the 26 mag , 19 , 17 , and 18 mags . I wish other firearm companies would do that. Especially Ruger .
  14. Maybe this ? ....https://www.nist.gov/news-events/news/2016/07/nist-3d-ballistics-research-database-goes-live
  15. Pros : very few parts , no finger grooves , Glock reliability , rust resistance , it uses its bigger brothers higher capacity mags ( 17,18, 19, and 34) Cons : just a little wider than other brands, and this is the first year of it having coil springs on the slide STOP and slide LOCK ( they have always used leaf style springs that were very reliable)
  16. Yep . I wont let the safety keep me from getting it. On my older Shield it had the manual safety. I only used it once just to see if it worked , then I never used it again.
  17. Oh I agree , I just don't see why people are not saying anything about the LCP II .
  18. Hello members , sorry to ramble on here as of lately , I have been making quite a few topics since I'm stuck home with my little one that is sick with the flu. Thank God she is getting better. Anyways , I hear a lot of people moaning over the Security 9's manual safety . I don't like it either since I am a long time Glock owner and I like things as simple as they can be. My question is this : Why do people complain about the Security 9 having a manual safety but they seem to be fine with the LCP II even though it does not have a manual safety ? I think they are almost the same and are both hammer fired . Again , I like guns with no manual safety but I never hear people complain about the LCP II not having one. Am I missing something ?
  19. It really is !!!!
  20. Well I just got a great deal on 3 brand new Beretta APX mags from TGO member TerminalLcpl88 . Great member . I didn't look into the gear classifieds here because there doesn't seem like too many people shoot the Beretta APX , but I searched last night and found his ad from a few months ago selling 3 mags. Worked out great
  21. I had the GI model in 45 and it ran great except one time the sear spring messed up and it would fire double taps with one push of the trigger. Scared the heck outta me the first time. I put in a new set of standard springs by Wolf and it ran great afterwards. So I was kinda wanting one again. Something not too expensive to mess with as I have decided to hold off on the Ruger Security 9 for a little and see what, if any, bugs crop up on them.
  22. Ok thanks. I always heard that you can do stuff like that with Glock at their place in Georgia so I was hoping it would be similar.
  23. Does anyone here know if Beretta in Gallatin Tennessee has an onsite retail shop ? I'm trying to buy some APX magazines and they are $33 and with the presidents day promo code it knocks them down to $24 but they want $9 for shipping. Just tying to save the extra $9 . My wife and I are always driving to the Nashville and surrounding areas every other week so if they do I could walk right in to save shipping. Anyone know ?
  24. Good to hear . Thanks guys . What brand magazines are you RIA owners using in 45 ?
  25. I had a Rock Island Armory 1911 GI model a few years ago . It ran good. How are the newer ones running ? Still good or what ? I am specifically asking about the full size GI model in 45acp . I would ask over at 1911 forum but they get a little picky if a gun cost less than $1,000 LOL . Thanks for any information.
