Anyone here going to the NMRA Mustang drag races in Bowling Green Ky this weekend ? I was there today and was pretty good. One 80's Mazda rx7 had a Ford Coyote 5.0 in it and stood up on it's rear bumper and let off the throttle just in time before it flipped ! Busted the steering on it's way down but WOW ! Several 7 second cars were there and just an awesome time. Tomorrow will probably be just as good.

That's awesome ! I love carrying in a cross draw every now and then . I have that same gun too. You got that trigger covered up perfectly .

Hopefully they will be better than the current crap. A few years after Remington took over Marlin , I was looking at the Lever 336 . I have an old one from the 60's but wanted the newer ones , I think they were the real short Youth models that are very short to use as a brush type gun for deer. I looked at 4 different ones and all had their tubular magazines twisted very badly and wasn't lining up correctly with the barrel . The front sights were also very far off to the left or right. You could see it very easily even laying on the shelf.

Great , lots of good places and too many to list.

LOL . One time on the bad side of Memphis I wished I had 2 guns. Looking for some BBQ places back in the 90's when we were dating . No GPS and no cell phones. just paper maps and horsepower to get yourself out of potential trouble , LOL .

Around 3 years ago my wife and I went to Gatlinburg for our anniversary. We skipped all the touristy shops and stuff and just drove around looking at this and that. We walked up to Clingmans Dome just at the right time. I got a picture of her with the clouds below us and a rainbow coming up through the clouds. Pretty cool I think. I'll try to add the picture here. She'd have my a$$ if she knew I posted a picture of her. But I think the clouds below and rainbow shooting upwards was cool.

I was only joking about carry 2 guns . But we are going there to visit a couple of cross stitching shops that my wife wants to see. Plus I'm always looking for old cars along the way in peoples yards. I'm missing my old 89 Tercel. Mainly a trip to get away from the kids on our anniversary and avaioding the touristy type crap in Gatlinburg. Might even swing past Whittakers in Ownesboro on way back and eat some mutton at the Moonlight Café

I'm going to Louisville Ky day after tomarrow . What are some good burger and steaks places ? My wife likes burgers and steaks. It's our 22 year together and I'm trying to find a good steak place for supper that wont make me go broke and a good burger place for a mid day snack. Any information is appreciated.

Yeah the guy with glasses. He really believed in his products. He shot himself a lot. Several videos of him doing it. Unreal !

I forgot to add that I shot it at a distance of 10 feet.

I dug out my old Second Chance brand vest that I bought in 1995 when I was a reserve deputy with the sheriffs office. We had to buy our own equipment so I kept it and today I dug it out. It was made in 1995 and most Kevlar is rated or warranty for 5 years. It is soft body armor Kevlar with no metal plates. Mine shows that it is a level IIA and is rated for 9mm 124gr FMJ and 357mag 158gr JSP directly and any angle. It's also rated for .44 mag at perpendicular angles . Today I took out my panels and shot it with 9mm 147 gr FMJ and 45ACP 230gr . I shot it at a distance of 10 feet. It stopped them both. I shot it with 2 rds of each caliber. Just thought I'd share this since it was kinda neat . 23 years and it still stops bullets. And remember that heat is supposed to degrade Kevlar : I kept this vest in the trunk of my patrol car at my present day job as a "worst case scenario tool" , kinda redneck but putting more on cant hurt. Anyways I'm sure it got really hot in there for several years and now after 23 years it still works. Pretty neat huh ?

reloading 45acp for the Glock 21 and 30
tercel89 replied to tercel89's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Good to hear . When I reload I have to have all the kids out of the house and just me and maybe the wife at home. Kids will definitely mess you up. I reload in groups of 50 and then look don inside the cases before I put a bullet on top to be pressed. One time I saw that I had double charged one , so the fact that I take time to look down into each case paid off. So far I'm only making reloads using FMJ's and plated bullets. Later I will try casting lead ones. -
How's the Glock 36 now days ? Originally the 36 was hit and miss and it didn't have a light rail. I see now that it is still being produced by Glock and now has a light rail. So I assume it is better since it is still produced and all. Anyone here own one ? I am wondering about getting the 36 or the Shield 45 . The only thing I hate about the Shield 45 is the fact that the rear sight has to be removed to detail strip it as it holds the trigger/firing pin safety guts. I guess Glock has spoiled me .

I may have made a thread on this , but I don't remember so forgive me if I did , I searched and didn't find one. I have been reloading 9mm for 4 years and started 45acp months ago. I hear people that have horror stories about blowing up there Glock 21 and 30's with reloads. Do any of you guys know if this is because of reloaders not paying attention or is the Glock chamber a lot bigger and weakens the brass quicker ? Or anything else ? Thanks for any information.

I wear shorts all year round , even in Tennessee winters so being able to carry a gun with no belt and no belt worn holster is very nice. I only wanted to try the Security 9 since I was a Ruger fan and I am still hoping it will turn out as the present day "P-Series" like back in the 80's and 90's. Hopfully it does well. I'll still try and get one.

I have had a small NAA .22LR revolver but they are so small it was like a novelty type gun but this LCP II is way more practical. Plus I think center-fire ammo is more reliable.
-
Well I went and got the Secuity 9's little brother the LCPII . Same action with the small hidden hammer , the front slide serrations , last round slide hold open (unlike the older LCP) . I like it so far. It's the smallest carry gun I ever had. It has eaten Federal American Eagle 95 gr FMJ very well. I coated it real good with some Ballistol and now carrying it . This thing is really going to spoil me. Being able to put it in my pocket with it's supplied pocket holster without having to use a belt and holster is VERY convienent. I do like the Ruger supplied pocket holster that it came with but I ordered a DeSantis Superfly . It's a little more easier to get it out of the pocket.

I'm about the same as you on Taurus. Ive heard lots of good things about the PT92. I did have a Taurus model 85 .38 revolver . It would "lock up" and the cylinder not rotate ever other range visit .

Pocket holster recomendations for Ruger LCP II
tercel89 replied to tercel89's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I think you are exactly correct ! I did a load of searching last night online looking at holsters and then went out to several paces today to check out holsters. I think I have settled on the DeSantis Superfly. I thought I wanted leather like I carried my Beretta Tomcat in but I think the leather is too fat and heavy. -
Got me a Ruger LCP II and it came with a Ruger pocket holster. The pocket holster is good but I cant seem to draw the gun without the holster coming out with the gun. I am wanting a good functional pocket holster for my front pocket. Leather would be nice. Back several years ago I had a Beretta Tomcat and I bought a leather pocket holster for it. I cant think of who made it. I believe it was a Tennessee guy. Any recommendations on pocket holsters ? Leather or nylon , any information is welcome. Here's my LCP II below .

Anyone here have a Security 9 with a high round count and usage ? I am just seeing how they are doing. Any problems ? How is function ? Any premature rust on them ? I was about to get one back the first of this year but held off in case there were any teething problems.
