  1. I'd like to see the sub assembly taken apart to see how all the parts work together.
  2. EXACTLY ! Very well said and true . My son will be 21 in March and I gave him a Glock 17 for his 18th birthday but this could be his first purchase all on his own with his own money with him doing the paperwork if he is smart. He reads this forum so I wont say what I am getting him for his 21st birthday , LOL .
  3. At $299 this is the best and most reliable "trunk" or "truck" gun you can buy brand new. People talking about the Security 9 and the Taurus G2 but fitting the trunk gun category but I think the XD is more reliable than those others.
  4. Looks like S.A. is "reintroducing" the old Gen 1 XD series by selling them for $339 MSRP by deleting the extras and just having one magazine. They call it the Defender series. This may give the Ruger Security 9 folks some competition. Palmetto State Armory has them for sale for $299 now . Pretty neat I think. The XD platform is well tested and proven. I'd buy an XD any day over a brand new design like the Security 9 or any other new design that hasn't been proven yet.
  5. I just some dude disassemble one on a video. Taking the striker assembly out just to field strip is a big negative in my opinion.
  6. I was just about to type that same thing. I'm afraid that this may be another RP9 flop. Look how bad the review was on Military Arms Channel . He had to send it back and get another one it was so bad.
  7. I'll pass on this with it being a 9mm , BUT ,,,,,, if Glock has this same gun in .45acp with 10 rds and just as thin , I'd snatch it up quick.
  8. Kinda , that's when Ruger went to the "key lock" safety and the magazine safety but they were still tough as nails.
  9. I know most gun owners don't care for the older Ruger P-Series , especially the younger gun owners. But while at Guns And Leather in Greenbrier I came upon a nice like new used Ruger P-345 stainless slide , with the box , 3 magazines and all for $295. The insides looked like they may have shot no more than 50 rds . I went back there twice , had the cash in hand and some how resisted buying it. I went out set on buying some AR500 shooting steel. I got my steel later on in the day but I swear that Ruger was a sweet deal ! Just thought I'd pass this on since GNL is a great place and I think Mr. William's son is a member here. Those guns were built to last , even though this one and the P-95's and P-97's had polymer rails built into the frame. They just run and run with no wear at all on those polymer rails. So anyone want a good reliable gun at a great price , GNL has it !
  10. Beretta 92 / M9. The barrel stays straight and doesn't tilt and the 9mm round doesn't even have to travel up a "ramp" . IT is designed to just go straight in the chamber. That is why they feed so reliably. My 92/M9 shoots very soft and feeds great !
  11. Thanks guys for the information
  12. If you have an Order Of Protection , a Condition Of Release , or lie on the form about being a domestic violence offender or a felon then you can get arrested. TBI called us last week about some guy trying to buy a gun. He had an OOP . He wasn't supposed to have access to a gun . He was on video handling a gun and trying to buy it . He got arrested.
  13. Awesome ! I hear the same . My 1911 is a S.A. Mil Spec made in 2003 . Had around a 1,000 through it but now I'm gonna run it hard. Never had a malfunction. Paid $400 new in box near the end of 2003. I wished I had got a few Norico 1911's then . They were around $275 used if I remember correctly .
  14. Nothing wrong with mine. I only have 2 factory mags and since I'm reloading 45 now I am gonna try to get at least 4 more mags. I have 2 factory mags plus one Chip McCormick mag and they all run good.
  15. I keep hearing these mags will make a bad 1911 run reliably . My 1911 runs good with it's factory mag but I am where I am now reloading a lot of 45acp and where I can do a lot shooting with it . I only have 2 factory mags and was thinking about these. Any thoughts or experiences ?
  16. YEp that's what I was talking about. That was a big dude I bet
  17. We live beside Ft. Campbell so we can never tell if it's earthquake or training. Tennessee was hit pretty hard back in the 1800's by one of the worst quakes in the US . People in Washington DC felt it I have read. I sure hate to think that thing will be active again.
  18. Yes it was awesome !
  19. They went back to that time and right when they launched all the aircraft to fight the Japanese fleet , the same storm popped up and the captain decided that the planes should come back on board and they did go back to 1980 . But while in 1941 , the 2 F14's faught 2 Japanese Zero's , and one Japnaese pilot was captured. Great Movie ! I bought the movie and watch it at least 3 times a year. Kinda Science fiction with the time warp but still cool .
  20. One of my favorite movies has to do with the Pearl Harbor bombing. It's called The Final Countdown. It's where the USS Nimitz in the 80's goes through some bad electrical storm and goes back to 2 days before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Pretty neat ! It has a great cast with Kirk Douglas , Martin Sheen , Katherine Ross , James Ferentino, and more. Made in 1980 . Pretty cool movie . You see F14 Tomcats fighting Japanese Zero planes. here's he trailer from 1980
  21. I read an article in some gun magazine when I was at Sam's Club . Cant remember which magazine but it was comparing the pros and cons of compact guns. There were around 4 or 5 guns and the G2C was one. It's number one con was that their TEST guns failed. Kind of a bummer. If I find the article I'll post it . For the money and if you find one that works great then it would be great for a truck , trunk , or just toss around gun.
  22. All I did was level the ground and lay the blocks and fill in he holes inside the blocks with sand . I didn't even concrete them togather. The sand insulates the heat so it cooks better. One block from the top I put some rebar which holds the metal grate that I put the meat on. The top is just some old plywood.
  23. Oh I know lol . He used to be so fat he looked like a water heater with peg legs.
  24. That "pup" is an old man . My son picked him out when he was in kindergarden and now he is in his 3rd year of college. Now he's watching my daughter go through school. He loves the camera .
  25. I forgot to add that before I started cutting my own wood from the forest to cook with , I would go to a local saw mill and buy a bundle of oak slabs . A whole bundle is around $20 -$30 . They are heavy and so it took me 2 trips to carry them home in my utility trailer. When I'd get them home I'd use my chain saw to cut them into firewood size. I cooked from that bundle of slabs for several batches of BBQ . Here's what the slabs looked like after I cut them.
