I am a big Beretta fan but I gotta say that I am not impressed. A slim 9mm with more moving parts than a Glock 43 . Plus the end of the gun seems like it would print more than the Glock 43. I say this because I am comparing it to the G43 I own. I like it but not enough to go spend money on it AT THIS TIME. What are your thoughts ? I will add that in my opinion , One of the good things that sets it apart from the S&W Shield is that the rear sights doesn't hold down the striker safety plunger. I detail strip my pistols annually so it makes a difference to me.

I got to handle the STR-9 today and take it apart. Everything was good except the trigger. The trigger was heavy and just plain weird. The best I can describe is a heavy cheaply made revolver trigger. Just bad. Most all of it was very Glock like , right down to the trigger bar and the "crusifx" part. The gun felt great in my hand and pointed very nice. Very sturdy looking. Some people have said and showed in videos about how the magazine doesn't drop free , but this one dropped free like normal. I guess for under $300 its good but that trigger is bothersome in my opinion and I am not a very picky person when it comes to triggers.

Rural King in Clarksville has some cool deals here and there.

I just saw this while looking at the Security 9 specifications. I never heard or saw it advertised. Kinda neat ! https://ruger.com/products/security9/specSheets/3818.html

I gotta say that the first Glock Gen 2 ( first in my picture) is one sexy beast. The best Glock made. It's been shot a lot and is old but it's my favorite. The original 2 pin design beats all others. rust resistance , dependability , and on and on . She may be polymer but she beats all the metal framed guns and to me is still pretty ! The second is my Gen 3 G22. It has the frying fan finish. I bought it from my department when we went over to the Gen 5 G17 which is what is in the last pistol in the picture. I am still getting used to it. The Gen 5 slide is very black in color .

Here's a layout for ya : First the Gen 2 Tenifer , then the Tenifer with "frying pan" Gen 3 , and then my duty gun the Gen 5 . So far it's seems that it's hard to beat the Gen 3 "frying pan" .

Very true ! I wanted to buy another Cougar in 45acp and none to be found.

That's exactly why I'm waiting to handle it and examine it. I'll check out the SAR-9 and see what's up with it . Thanks for the information.

Just saw that Stoeger has a new polymer pistol out called STR-9 . Looks very interesting. The internals look very Glock-like. I am very interested. I had 2 of their Cougars when they came out around 11 years ago. Seems they have a MSRP of $329 so store prices could be well under $299. We are living in some great times with all these new guns coming out and prices being lower on some like this and the Mossberg , and others. I am very interested in this STR-9 . Just thought I'd share this. Seems pretty neat to me . I know some don't care for another polymer pistol but my older Stoeger Cougars were darn nice. They were built on the old Beretta Cougar machines. But if you look close at the frames on these new STR-9's , you can see some of the Beretta APX pistol resemblance. https://www.stoegerindustries.com/str-9

I've handled 3 of them . I like them a bunch. I see no negative things. I was about to buy one last Monday but decided to wait a few more weeks. It seems very simple and that's what I like. The grip feels great , the internals are very glock-like which is good to me. I put in a Glock 43 magazine in it at the gun shop and fits and works great with them. That's another plus. The only thing holding me back right now is I am waiting to handle a Stoeger STR-9 . It's a new polymer double stack full size pistol prices a little lower than the Mossberg. If I decide not to buy the Stoeger , then I'll get the Mossberg. Bottom line , I like the Mossberg a BUNCH. I say go for it .

This Gen 5 finish is a little more slicker to the feel than the older frying pan finish. I can grab the serrations and rack the slide just as good as my older Gen 3 . I've been carrying my work G17 Gen 5 since December of 2017. So far no major scuffs or scratches. So far it may end up being almost as tough as the frying pan finish. But grabbing it on the places other than the serrations , it's slick.

That's what I am going to do , buy an extra one , cut it and then install it. I'll have the original for back-up.
-
I can cut off the other side no problem , but before I do that I'd like to hear other's thoughts and ideas.
-
I just like things to be as simple as they can be and with pistols , as smooth sided as they can. I want the sides to but less "busy" without levers and such. My work place went over to the Gen 5 a year ago and so far so good. I like the Gen 5 but for my personal Gen 5 I like it all except the dual slide stop levers. I guess it's just a "quirk" of mine.

Have any of you guys/gals wondered about a single sided slide stop ? I like some of the Glock Gen 5 changes but I don't like the double sided slide stop. I know I could cut off the other side but wondering what you guy think ? Any information is appreciated.

Anyone know of any LEO S&W dealers in the Nashville area ? Like the S&W version of the Glock Blue labels . Thanks for any help. I am not very computer savvy but it pulled up some places that don't exist LOL .

I love the look and sound of an old worn 1911 that rattles and is still reliable.

hey , I'm a 45 year old kid !!!

So who's gonna buy one of these ? I was really about to take the plunge but my washing machine just kicked the bucket.

I just found the part I was talking about. Listen to them cock their blasters at 00;26

Exactly ! I was watching Star Wars Rogue One and a bunch of Stormtroopers cocked their blasters. I about lost it !

I just handled the Mossberg pistol last night. The striker lug and slide-back-plate is what keeps the slide locked on the frame rails. It doesn't have a slide lock like a Glock or a rotating locking pin like a S. A. XD or a Beretta 92. I have never handled a pistol like that before. It's very simple and I hope time will prove it reliable. It felt great in the hand. The trigger pull and reset were about average. The slide back plate is metal. So time will tell if this design is good and will hold up to a high round count.
