Squirrel hunting with shotgun or rifle ?

I have a shotgun but have always wanted a Ruger 10/22 so this may be a good excuse to get one. -
Squirrel hunting with shotgun or rifle ?
tercel89 replied to tercel89's topic in Hunting and Fishing
You fellows that use shotguns , do many pellets get lodged in the meat ? I get paranoid about lead being in my meat that I'm gonna eat. When I shoot deer , I just cut around the shot area. But with these little guys , I dont want to lead them up LOL. -
Squirrel hunting with shotgun or rifle ?

All I have ever done was use a Marlin model 60 in .22LR with iron sights. The distance will range from 35 feet to 80 feet up in the trees. -
Which is the best to use to get squirrels in your opinion ? I am talking about shooting them to eat so I don't want to tear the meat up very much but I do want to get as many as I can. I've only used .22LR in the past and its very hit and miss with the .22LR. If you use shotgun , then what gauge do you use and why ? Any information is appreciated.

Yeah he typed "46" twice in that paragraph and figured it couldn't have been a mistake . I was getting my hopes up to hear that someone had bought the Glock 46 with the rotating barrel.

I haven't been keeping up with this post but what's the chances of Glock redesigning the 10 rd magazine to hold more ? I am all about modification and using aftermarket parts, but when it comes to Glock , factory parts always work. The only thing other than sights I ever use on mine are the Ghost connectors. I have a new 43X that I still haven't shot. I like the thinness of it but I always seem to find myself carrying my G26. I think there is room enough in the 43X mag to hold more and I'm sure Glock can make the spring for it to work. But right now I find myself almost on the fence about selling my 43X. I've cycled the slide a few times , admired the thinness of the slide and like it but just never fired it nor carried it. I guess I just bought it as a spur of the moment thing. But I just don't see why Glock doesn't come up with the higher capacity 43X magazine. People always used to put the little after market "+2" floor plate on the G26 magazines back in the day and now Glock makes the 12 rd G26 mags. Yeah it took a several years but you never know. Hopefully they come around and make the factory mag hold more.

Thanks buddy , we appreciate it.

I just added Talon Grips to it. Feels a lot better. The normal grip was eating up the skin on my hip under my shirt. Feels much better now.

CZ P07 in 9mm. LOVE mine . Light weight , reliable hammer fired , comes stock with steel sights , and can be switched from decocker-only to safety/decocker so you can carry cocked-and-locked. You can switch it to either way in just 3 minutes. Comes with this option from factory.

Dave Ramsey ? I agree 100% , but if he's caught up and has emergency fund , then let the fun begin.

We all say it , "the last gun I'll buy" , but this is the last "new" gun I think I'll buy. I'm tired of striker guns and newer stuff. The older ones seem to work better. Plus hammer fired guns are getting more interesting to me than strikers. Got me a new P-07 in 9mm. Man it's sweet. I've never been a Glock 19 fan but always a Glock 17 fan. This P-07 is G19 size and is nice. I like the light weight and the simplified hammer fired action. If there is a hard primer , I can strike it again with the hammer instead of having to rack the slide like you would on most striker guns. I owned the original P-07 when it came out in 2009 and it had teething problems but now it's better than ever. Front and rear sights are metal , front serrations , accurate as can be , hammer fired , large trigger guard , the ability to change from decocker to safety/cocked and locked , the pistol comes with 15 rd magazines and it also comes with magazines base pads from the factory that are +2 making the mags 17 rds each , the front and rear edges are now rounded off , and of course the low bore axis , and I cant think of much else except that this P-07 is nice.

9mm ammo available at Shoot Point Blank Knoxville
tercel89 replied to TripleGGG's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
This crap is unreal ! I still dont understand how the virus thing triggered this mess. I was at a local gun store picking up a part and a man comes in walks straight to the counter and asks if they had AR15 lowers. The guy then said "give me 2" . He didnt look at them or take his time to check them out or anything. He just flopped out his money and started the paperwork. WIth me , I take my time and check out the lower to see if it looks good and look for flaws and such. But this dude just scarfed 2 up and did the paperwork. Then a lady comes in and does the same thing. Funny thing is that there were lotsof .22lr ammo and it wasnt touched at all. -
WOW makes me think how I'm in western-middle Tn and a little too close for comfort to the New Madrid fault line. Remember how Reelfoot Lake was made ?????

Great quality and thick leather. I like the 3 slots because I sometimes wear it cross-draw style on my weak side.
-
Its Blackhawk. I like to buy leather from local leather people or one man or family type operations , but when I saw this one I couldnt resist.
-
Thanks buddy . I figured that leather would go right with steel. Plus it looks sweet. The bad part is that I conceal carry so no one will see the leather , but I sure like it's looks.

I added more pictures. I got a new holster for my CZ Compact and it also fits my CZ 75 fullsize Single Action Only which I put in the pictures too. Enjoy the CZ eye candy . I went with leather since an all steel gun just seems to go better with good ole leather rather than kydex or plastic.

Well , not you , but Obi-Wan in the movie LOL .
-
Good ole traditional double action/ single action mixed with all steel is just nice. Makes a great range and home defense gun .

The IWI Masada comes standard with optics ready . There is one for sale on TGO Classifeds right now. It's $420 and in great shape like new .

I think I am almost done with polymer/plastic guns. I like plastic guns like my Glocks . They are like Craftsman automotive tools. They work and hardly ever fail , except maybe a 36 or 44 ,,,,, LOL . But seriously I have my plastic guns and they work great but I have gotten older or to where I like good ole steel. I got this 2 year old CZ 75 Compact 9mm ALL STEEL today and I am very pleased. Just gave her a bath of Ballistol. The way I feel about it is like Obi-Wan ,, " Not as clumsy or random as a blaster , An elegant weapon for a more civilized age."

I'm not a fan of them . My workplace just put them on our rifles last year and supposedly we are getting them on our Glock 17's. I just like good ole fashioned sights. I dont like having to look through a small window as it makes it harder to concentrate for me.

I'm wondering what the roll pin near the front top of the trigger guard is for . There isnt one there on Glocks.
