Oh yes ! I have had only 2 but find the ones that WORK!!!! Dont get hung up on the ones with all the hype and stuff. My S.A. Mil-Spec has been a jewel ! Take your time and the good thing is that if a magazine ban happens , Lord forbid , that wont hurt the 1911's !

This is my Springfield-Armory Mil-Spec that I bought new on 2004. It has functioned great ! No malfunctions nor problems. It eats any ammo I feed it . The only thing I did was take out the main-spring housing that had the integrated key lock safety in it and put in a regular flat main spring housing . I carry it a bunch and love it . It is as dependable as my Glock 30 and that is saying a lot , believe me ! Oh and it cost me $400 in 2004 new out the door. If it were me I would find a older Springfield and have it built-up . Use it as a foundation. And dont be afraid of rattles, that is when I believe the 1911 becomes reliable ! If they are too tight then , to me , they are vulnerable to malfunctions. Glocks have a very loose fit which helps in reliability .

Romad7 , you said this " Also not worried about any wear from carrying it, that will happen, its a tool." That my friend is awesome ! A fellow that isnt afraid to let his new gun get scared nor scratched and going to use it like it was made to be used ! To me that is awesome ! When your grandkids get it later on in life , they will wonder in aww what the story was behind the scratches and marks . To me there is nothing more sexier in the gun world than a good working gun with marks and scratches.

I am a big CZ fan but mainly of the handguns but I have heard ALL good with their 22 rifles !

I carry a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec in just plain jane flat black. It has a lowered ejection port for reliability and I did take out the "key lock safety" in the main spring housing. I put in a new flat main spring housing with no key lock safety. It has been ssssooooo reliable and has great character since it is so plain looking yet so relaible. I say go with a cheaper one and save some money but it is really up to you. My friend at work just got a STI brand 1911 and he paid well over $1200 for it and loves it . Our Armorer at our department even liked it . So there are plenty of good ones out there. I like the light weight ones but when it comes to a 1911 I feel that you MUST get an all steel heavy fullsize one . Good luck buddy !

At the end of the day my ass is tired !

Yes I agree . My wife is a school teacher and I didnt realize that cursive hand writing was not taught anymore until she told me a while back. My 15 yr old son cant write in cursive !!! That is so messed up ! When I was in school in the 70's and 80's cursive was a special thing to me and I loved it. I was in an advanced class for it and I also took an Old English writing class and a Calligraphy class too . These days kids and young people just dont care anymore. And I dont know why this damn computer is making my letters in boldface letters! hahaha what a coincidence , prehaps these young kids could figure out this crap since they are all about the computer life !

Cool !!! ,,,but it is hard to beat my Marlin 981T . I may just try her out ! The Youth model I was after . How is the disassembly ? hard or easy or what ?

Sell it and guy a GLock 17 ,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,, Just messing and had to say it . I would seriously clean it good and used compressed air also. Then lube it and try again. If yout still get a failure call Ruger. Their customer service rocks !

A lot of clerks at the Clarksville Walmart will not let me buy beer with my HCP used as I.D. They say it is not proper I.D. I asked then what the heck doyou guys use for the dead beats who come in here and buy ciggarettes and beer who dont have anything ? She wouldnt give me an answer then . I explained to her it is a state issued I.D. and that I had to show all kinds of documents to get it and be finger printed and it is also the same number as my Driver License. She called a manager over to us and the manager applogized for the lady to me and made the transaction. I wasnt trying to make a big deal but I use whatever I. D. I have in the top of my see through section of my wallet.

You are on thin ice there young man !

Oh and another one is " you know what I'm saying" . Dont get me started on that one , but I am sure that 6.8 AR knows what I am talking about on that one , I hear that all the time ! This phrase will go on and on after every sentence that the person says .

I swear people now days have gotten to where they use the word "Actually" in almost every paragraph that they say. It is over used badly in my opinion. For example: I actually caught the ball. And here is the same sentence as it should be in my opinion : I caught the ball. There is no reason to add the word "actually" . I am 40 yrs old and it makes no sense to me to talk like this and add other unnessasary words. How do you guys feel ? Am I crazy or what ? I admit that I am anal about things but this drives me up the wall.

I love the cosmoline , after all it was what preserved it all these years. So cleaning it off to me is a PLEASURE not a CHORE. I have 2 Mosins and they are the best bang for the buck there is .
-
Ahhh that is exactly what I would like mine to look like ! . That is very nice . Maybe the same size upper with a fixed handle on it like a standard AR type "A2" has .

Ok , let me ask you this : If I get this TGO lower that is empty , and I decide to make it a pistol, then what do I need to do ? Also thanks so far for your kind help!

You are correct. The Tenifer is not the finish nor the color of the slide , it is a metal treatment. My Glock 22 is worn down to silver color at the muzzle but still never rusts when exposed to water because the Tenifer treatment is still there inside the metal.
-
You are correct , the clones are good but the CZ name is a classic and resale is way much better and the machining is still better too , even though the clones are still great . CZ is just a darn fine handgun but they seem to do better with the metal pistols than the polymer ones.

To buy a "short" complete upper , can you just buy it and then send in your existing "lower's" information and the Form1 to be all legal ? Or do you have to show any "Form " at all to buy the shorter upper ? The reason I am asking is that when we all do the "group buy" on here with the TGO lower , I want to make it into a short barrel rifle if possible. Not trying to hijack anyones thread here but I am learning and figured this would be a great time to ask. Or should I make an entirely different thread ?

I was looking at maybe getting the H001Y which is the youth. I like it since it's shorter in length and can be handled better in tight areas.

I heard from a few owners that they had parts break and they said it seems that the parts were cast metal. I know that now days cast can be as strong as some forged metal but does Henry use steel or , God forbid , zinc? I know that my brother had a "Baby Sigma in .380 by S&W back hen they came out around 95 and he dropped it once and a huge chunk cracked off of it. Thats how we found out it was pot-metal / zinc.

How reliable are these little rifles ? I know their actions are smooth as butter but I want to know about any reliability issues . I would REALY like a Marlin lever action in .22 but they seem to cost a fortune , like between $450 and up everytime I see a used one. Anyways any help is appreciated .

Oh no no no , you will NEVER be done ! HAHAHAHA

You will like the Glock's trigger-reset better than the M&P I bet . At least I do .
