With a new Glock 19 Gen 4, electronic muffs, some ammo, Comp-tac holster and mag pouch. Took a lot of looking and deciding. In the end, the Glock fit my hand the best, the trigger is decent, the price was right, and it was available. Off to the range tomorrow to give it a wringing out.

Original post deleted. Not enough coffee before typing. Here's REAL suggestion. Rather than clamping a light on your pistol, opt instead for a small, handheld tactical model light. It should have a "dead man's switch" back on the butt of the light, that is a small amount of pressure with the thumb and the light goes on. Release pressure and it's off. Now learn a decent method of firing with the light (I prefer the Harries method myself). Handheld lights like that aren't all that expensive, unless you go with Streamlight or another top name brand.

The cost of spare mags isn't the only issue with the PPQ. Try and find the gun itself! Everywhere you look they're sold out. I was seriously considering one, except I won't buy any gun sight-unseen, and there's no place around here that has or can get one.

I've shot a ton of different handguns, and love the 1911's, but I recently picked up an S&W MP9c while browsing a local shop and can honestly say that that pistol felt more comfortable in my hand than just about anything else that I've handled. Everything was perfect from the slight palm swells to trigger reach. It's on my very short list of "what to buy next".

I reviewed a Gen 1 Model 17 for an article when they first appeared on the market. I put many thousands of rounds through it without so much as a hiccup...except once. That occurred when I decided to see how many rounds I could run without cleaning it. Most of my shooting was done with cast round-nose slugs that I loaded myself. (Did this in spite of lead bullets not being suggested due to the polygonal rifling). At just over 3000 rounds, the slide failed to return to full battery by about a gnat's eyelash. I smacked the rear of the slide home and finished firing the magazine without problems. A check of the chamber mouth revealed a very small circle of lead that had built up there. Flicked it out with a pocket knife and went on to run another 2400 rounds before I gave up. I won a lot of "mouse gun" side matches with it. They ain't pretty, but they sure do shoot

A good .45 pistolsmith can do wonders in making a 1911 shoot tighter groups. That would be my first choice.

You may want to consider trying to "dicker" on used guns in a pawn shop. Their markup is astronomical as they usually pay about a quarter on the dollar of their value, meaning that if they're asking $200 they probably didn't give much over $75 for it in the first place. All they can do is say no, but you might get a good deal. Just sayin'......

I just priced a new S&W MP9c at Shooters in Camden...$485. Retail is $569. Owner told me that they sell all guns at 10% over their cost. I figure that was a dandy price on that piece and will definitely go back when the time comes.

Retired from the Pa State Police in '93, moved here to TN 15 years ago. Was a competitor in PPC, IPSC, and skeet. Did quite a bit of gunwriting in the late '70's thru mid-'80's. Been a LONG layoff from shooting and decided to get back into things just lately. (Also love bass fishing, BTW) Looking forward to enjoying the forum.
