  1. ONE MILLION rounds of 9mm 115gr FMJ for sale on their website.  They didn't say whether it would be their remanufactured ammo, new ammo, or a mix.  It will be available in 500 round lots.  Their pricing isn't the lowest, but certainly not the highest, either.  Current pricing for 115gr reman is $172.29/500 plus shipping.  New ammo (Starline brass) is listed at $179/500.  Price does not include shipping.  I use their product and have never had an issue with it.  Just thought I'd pass this along.

  2. There are 3 different types of reloads in IDPA and all of them can be practiced at home very easily.  There are differences between, say, IPSC and IDPA.  In the former, you're given a problem and told to solve it.  In IDPA you're told the course of fire and HOW you'll shoot it.  At my club, there is a meeting prior to every match where new shooters are given an orientation to IDPA prior to start.  As for the shooting part........practice, practice, practice.  Practice your regular two-handed, strong hand only, and weak hand only.  Normally, you won't have a target farther than about 20 yards.  Most will be closer.

  3. I think the ammo supplies are loosening up. I don't see the frenzy that I've noticed in the past. FYI - I was in Houston yesterday (still in TX) and bought 500 rounds of 40 S&W and 9mm each. I have my ammo "stash" but needed some shooting stock. This retail store (an ammo manufacturer) was crowded but I didn't see panic buying and some customers were buying several boxes vs bulk.

Were you by any chance in the Freedom Munitions store?  A friend of mine was in Texas and went there and picked me up 500 rounds of new mfg and dropped it off yesterday.  They make good stuff.

  4. I used this last week to order up some Speer Lawman 9mm.. Sportsman Guide took my $ and said it was on the way.. When it did not get here on Fri I thought it will come on Mon.. Till I got a email yesterday saying it had been back ordered for 3 more months....

Just make sure they got what you need....

Use the Sportsman's Guide website and check out the 9mm.  It's ALL out of stock and the expected in-stock dates keep getting pushed back.

  5. Checked GunBroker last week and there was 31 pages of 9mm ammo up for grabs...if you want to pay, that is.  I scored some 9mm Federal at WM last weekend, and a buddy picked me up another 500 rounds while visiting in Texas.  There's ammo out there, but you have to be constantly looking and be there online when it pops up for sale.

  6. I would never buy reloads in a baggie from anyone.  You see a lot of this at gun shows.  I shoot commercial made remans in my G19  from a company in Idaho, and thus far they're as good as factory fresh.

  7. I stopped by our WM a couple of days ago.  Bare shelves as usual.  Snotty wench behind the counter asked me what I wanted, told her 9mm.  She says "Oh we sold it already". :yuck:   I asked her how many boxes they got in, she replied THREE!  Personally, I think there's something rotten here.  I have a hard time believing that they only got three boxes total.  I'm wondering if they unpack the ammo, see what's in there, and call their buddies who come galloping in and buy it up before it hits the shelves?

  8. If my mind hasn't totally clouded over, the S&W shotguns were Japanese made and imported under the Smith brand.  Their Model 1000 was an autoloader, the Model 3000 was a pump.  I owned one of the 3000's in riot configuration and it handled better and was much smoother than my dept's issued 870's.  I had a chance to shoot the 1000 at a writer's seminar in Texas....their "Super Skeet" model that had a ported barrel.  With skeet loads the recoil was almost nil.  It was, IMO, the best skeet shotgun I ever fired.

  9. Rather than tell you what to buy, I'll tell you to find a range that rents handguns and give several a try, then buy the one you like best.  The old adage "One man's meat is another's poison" is very true.

I found out about this place via gun-deals website link I posted. Reviews I have read are very good and they still have 9 mm in stock as cheap as $0.26/round delivered. I ordered 250 rounds of 9mm and .45 ACP to try them out.

Went to their website and ordered two cases of 9mm 124gr as they were on sale.  Popped back onto their home page and read that they have enough supplies to honor all orders prior to 1/20.  After that.....it's up in the air as to shipping dates.  They show times of from 30 to 75 days.  (I ordered mine on 1/21 so have no idea when it will ship)  Unfortunately their site isn't set up to allow you to check/track your order.  FYI, Freedom Munitions is catching up on their backlog of orders and will be opening up their website to new orders shortly.  I have 500 rounds from them that runs fine in my G19.
